Man, I'm kinda sad the ride is over.

That was the most fun I've had in the Playoffs in some time...

At least there's the Olympics.

I love Simmons, but I chuckled at this. LeBron doesn't ascend to the throne without the Celtics pushing him!

The other twist of fate: Derrick Rose wrecked his knee in Round 1, propelling the Celtics into the Conference Finals … you know, LeBron's nemesis, the bullies who beat him in 2008 and 2010, the grizzled veterans who were convinced that LeBron would always cave when it mattered most. Garnett and Pierce loved pushing his buttons more than anyone. During their final regular-season road trip to Miami, which turned out to be a surprisingly easy win for the Celtics, they spent the last two minutes busting Wade's balls about LeBron. You picked the wrong guy. You'll never win with that guy. LeBron could hear everything. They didn't care. In Game 5 of their playoff series, Garnett and Pierce pushed things a little further, believing that LeBron was ready to cave again. Down the stretch, Garnett muttered derisive obscenities under his breath anytime LeBron was in earshot, then stuffed him at the rim on a pivotal drive. A little bit later, Pierce nailed a back-breaking 3 right in LeBron's mug, then yelled, "I have the balls to take that!" as he trotted back down the floor.

In retrospect, they pushed him too far. The Celtics regarded LeBron with such disdain — that's why Rondo angrily yelped, "Let's go!" before defending LeBron's final drive of regulation in Game 2. LeBron ended up settling for a 21-footer against someone seven inches shorter than him, followed by Rondo strutting back to the huddle and probably telling his teammates, "I knew he didn't have the balls to come at me." They spent that whole series challenging his manhood; by the end of Game 5, they thought they had broken him. Was that what turned him into a serial killer in Game 6? Not entirely … but it definitely helped. I just don't think LeBron makes LeLeap without the bullies from Boston.1

There's some truth there, but knowing how homerish Simmons is made me chuckle.

That makes game 6 and 7 that more lovely. Especially Pierce being a non-factor in game 6.

lol. they dont understand the spirit of a hater.
we hate successful people.
lebron succeeded this season so therefore we hate him.

It's hard to support something when the product is actively trying to suspend your belief. Everything seemed forced last night, coupled with him embarrassing himself the game prior.

It's a problem growing throughout multiple leagues, but the NBA just makes it all the more insincere.

Well, ESPN had to wait nine years (11 actually) to have that moment, but when they finally got it they did it in there fashion. Durant was 3 years and a network too early. He will fall short the next time because Westbrook may be in every game, but plays so haphazardly its hurting Durant's chances. Harden for some reason wasnt even there.

The league is LeBron to own for years because the dude finally figured out how to post to set up offence and even if you double him - they will make enough passes to beat you. That and the fact that Rose may never be the same player, KG is over the hill (maybe)... Unless some sort of star comes to the sixers before the new TV contract comes up, who stacks up against the man who finally found his game?

I rolled my eyes during that too. It's like LeBron is awesome!!!, but you know what? He wouldn't have been awesome if the Celtics didn't push him! Lets give the Celtics some credit for the Heat's championship!

Damn, I just read that Lebron celebrated last night by drinking a 75k bottle of champagne. WTH? I'd love to be in the business of making that stuff.

The wine game is bull. Most people can't tell the difference. And I'm including the people that get paid to appraise the stuff.

For a long team Lebron was trying to appease everyone. Cleveland, family, friends, D Wade, media, fans and anyone who had something to say about him. He tried to be a villain and failed miserably, because he didn’t understand the puzzle.

Being a villain isn’t about snappy comebacks, Twitter beef or fake tough guy quotes. Being the villain is with half the world waiting for you to fail and dropping 45, 15 and 5. Being the villain is hearing the whispers……

“Kevin Durant is best player in the world and he is clutch”

And then totally outplaying him on the biggest stage and breaking his will.

Lebron never made the wrong “Decision”, he just made the unpopular one, he didn’t do what YOU wanted him to do. He didn’t announce it the way YOU wanted him to say it. He didn’t fit into what YOU thought a franchise player should be. Because YOU thought you owned him.

But, you didn’t because he was……

FREE

By doing what HE wanted to do, he has figured out puzzled, unlocked and has escaped from prison. The prison of perception. The prison of expectations. The prison of social media.

Athletes careers are like books with multiple chapters, you can never make a blanket statement until the book is closed.

Lebron’s legacy isn’t finished being written, but this chapter is closed and a new one begins and it is titled.

I know those paragraphs are colored by Simmons blatant homerism, but I think there's enough truth in that idea that I can't hold it against him. Game 6 of the ECF is going to be talked about for a long long time, especially if Lebron starts winning multiple titles from here on out.

I never really found a reason to hate Lebron. He's really really really good at basketball and despite The Decision not being the most savvy PR move to say the least, the backlash to it sounded like a lot of sour grapes. I do feel bad for Cleveland though, they didn't deserve for things to end the way it did.

Him quitting on his team and just acting like an asshole on the court kind of ruins it for me. I'm not disputing his championship this year, he is just a very unlikable athlete, which I understand having quite a few around here.

Congrats to Miami for a great season. I hope my Bulls can come together with a fully healed Rose pick and rolling with Pau (traded for Deng and Boozer) and Noah grabbing every offensive rebound in 2014 to keep Miami from a three-peat.

When other superstars got their first ring did people predict a dynasty this much?

Not really, because there was more competition and balance throughout the league when other stars have won for the first time. Bron ran to a stacked team in an era where real superstars are now old and/or on less talented teams... and the starts from eras past had to face three or four quality teams before claming their prize, it wasn't a cakewalk to the finals where the challenger was worn out from having to earn there way to the finals.

People are discounting the Thunder way too easily. Durant will be a force of nature. Their core is still good. They'll be world beaters next season.

I'm amazed at the amount of people who are buying the media's "You can't hate LeBron anymore" kool-aid. It's spectacular.

You can still hate him, but now you have to respect that he led a team to a title.

If this ends up being Lebron's only title (which I doubt, fwiw), or even the only one for the next 3 seasons and that it came in a lockout year, history will put the asterisk on it. Maybe that ain't fair, but it's the truth.

But I dunno if the real haters are going to stop, now. They'll simply ask for 3 or 4 titles first now that he got one.

Yeah, it was an Ace of Spades. A fool and their money will soon be parted I guess.

Figures.

"Jigga mentioned it in one of his videos, it's the new hotness! I drink nothing but AoS and Patron!"

Also, seeing how Jigga is part owner of AoS (he pushes it the way Diddy pushes Ciroc) and is buddies with LeBron... I doubt LeBron paid for the bottle. Not that he couldn't have, obviously. Just some free publicity for Jigga and his brand.

I'm thinking Mike Miller is probably retiring. Yes he'll walk away from like 18 million but I think he wants to be able to walk later in life...
