The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim |OT2| Team Edward's Revenge

On the downside, I finished a pretty hard quest a while back only to realize that my best weapon just disappeared from my inventory. As in, I had it an hour ago, and now I do not have it, and I don't feel like replaying an earlier save just to get the weapon back. It's stuff like this that kills my Skyrim buzz every now and then.

Use the command console to spawn another one.

As long as you keep feeding every once in awhile, people won't hate you. You have to let yourself go for days getting more and more vampirish before people attack you on sight.

If you do let youself get too far, you can do something like keep a couple invis potions around, fast travel to the mage college or somewhere out of the way of guards, then sneak into the college barracks for some feeding.

Another good spot that has people available to feed on 24/7 is the temple in Whiterun that has those couple of sick farmers always laying around. They're considered to be "sleeping" and it's easy to pop in for a feeding every once in awhile.

If you're a master illusionist, harmony works fine to make everyone calm and to turn in quests. I know of someone who wanted to challenge himself so he basically played through the game as a maxed out vampire, eating the extreme health penalties in the daylight, and using illusion to be able to start/end quests.

The game tells me I'm hated and feared but nothing happens.

Why aren't there more dungeons like Blackreach? Beth really dropped the ball no dungeon design in this one, they're so beautiful but so brainlessly linear...

I'm playing on PS3, so that's not really possible.

On a side note, how difficult is it to level up blacksmithing? I have a ton of dragon scales and want to make myself some cool dragonscale armor but since I've been playing a thief I didn't bother leveling up smithing at all.

I've heard they made leveling smithing stupidly easy. As in, you can keep creating crappy daggers and they will still level you up at the same rate until you max. I personally never touched the crafting in this game since it seems to make the content ridiculously easy.

Oh, interesting. I was initially planning to save smithing for my next playthrough (probably a warrior class), but I have sunk so much time into this game I don't know if I'm going to be willing to go through it again with another character. I'll look into this, thanks.

Unfortunately that's incredibly true. My character is an absolute beast after leveling smithing and enchanting to 100, and that's not even going hard core like some people with alchemy potions of smithing and enchanting weapons and armour.

No longer true. A patch fixed it so that the crafted item's value determines how much you gain skill. So no more spamming iron daggers.

Blackreach is one of a kind in this game. When I discovered it, it was incredible.

Saying that, Forgotten Vale, whilst not a dungeon definitely eclipsed that for me. I don't like Soul Cairn really.

Yup, pretty lame. You go straight line to your target and back... unless you do the couple of side quests, which are really annoying, used guides to find what i was looking for.

It feels a bit like they had grand ideas but ran out of time/budget/skill to make them happen. Though this is an issue with Skyrim in general, many things wouldn't need much to make them superb.
So far i've been satisfied by Dawnguard though.

Even if you level up Smithing to 100, you're stuck with Iron, Steel, and Leather. You need perks in Smithing to craft all the good armors, including Dragon which is the last one you have to unlock. You'll be making some badass basic armors, though.

Does the Forgotten Vale count as a dungeon?

Just reached that. Jesus Christ on a pogo stick, awesome.

Also not using Smithing or Enchanting with this character, except to forge basic stuff. Both are around 20, I think. Since I can now find Dragon armor and weapons in the wild (found some boots in Blackreach), I don't need to forge them anymore.

Not sure if the game counts is as one but i do count it as one, because it doesn't have any towns/villages or other non-adventure related locations.
Cool area but... gah, whoever fucktard made it impossible to summon Arvak there?

Finished Dawnguard on Vampire side. Cool reward, also more challenging boss than Skyrim's. A lot more so. Of course my Mehrune's Razor triggered on that boss too...
Overall, cool quests, too many dungeons, too short, could have been more awesome, but good anyway.

Also, i don't really like dungeons, especially if they're ruin/cave dungeons, open dungeons (limited forests etc) and "city" dungeons (think Thief) are better but don't like those much either. Especially if they're large.

Is there anything really going on outside of the main Dawnguard questline? I'm done with it, and now I'm not sure if I'm just done with the DLC or what. It feels bigger than Knights of the Nine, but way smaller than Shivering Isles, but maybe that's perception in hindsight.

Complaints/review of Dawnguard; not really spoileriffic, but tagged just in case
I sort of feel like 20 bucks was too much for it; the fact that Vampires randomly enter towns, murder quest givers alone makes it not work 20 dollars; not even considering the random wandering vampires that randomly murder your quest giving NPCs. I don't know why Bethesda thought that was a good idea; a game like Skyrim is not going to be *more* fun when all the named NPCs die. It's just lame unless you're going to go out of your way to make every single character that offers a quest essential, which isn't a great idea either.

The quest itself was fine, although I felt like very little of it was actually explained to you to the point I couldn't necessarily understand why the characters were doing things or upset at other characters without inferring it. I also don't like the fact that there's this whole "choose your side element" since I never really liked that type of thing, although it was done much better in the Civil War stuff.

It is overpriced and it was never advertised as being the size of Shivering Isles...
It is, as you say, more like Knights of the Nine though somewhat larger.
And no, there is no extra things to do outside the faction main quests and faction side quests.

Do people recommend taking Block bashing perks with Two Handed weapon?

I'm really hoping that the next expansion is something big, the size of something like the Shivering Isles.

I'm actually glad that I haven't been able to play since March (due to my laptop dying). Between the patches and the DLC, I feel like I'm going to be playing a much more finished game.

Why am i so drawn on stealth characters? My previous character was a stealth-conjurer-illusionist.

First i plan a warrior, then i plan adding stealth skills for him and then i ditch all the warrior skills...

Now my next character seems to be: Alchemy, Sneak, Pickpocket, Speech, with some Archery for enhancing crossbows, primary killing method will be giving the target poisons.

I wanted to make a warrior because i wanted to craft Dragonplate armor, enchant it with as strong Resist Fire enchant as possible, name it Dragonbone Cuirass and temper it a bit, ie replicate an artifact from Morrowind. Odd that the artifact is not in Skyrim, despite being thematically linked.

Kinda wanted Restoration as well, due to Dawnguard adding some new spells. I guess i'll make a priest (One Handed maces, Restoration, Speech, something else) some other day then.

It wasn't, but it's the same price as Shivering Isles. Knights of the Nine was $9.99 which is why I think the comparison is totally valid. In all honesty, I would say it's not really worth the money unless you *really* love Skyrim (I do) - wait for GoTY edition or the DG price drop if you just sort of like the game.

I meant Dawnguard being overpriced. Should've written "Dawnguard is overpriced..."

I fear i end up getting all DLC for 360 and then getting GOTY for PC later on...

I bought this game two days ago (360) cause I loved Oblivion.
Blood & ice quest won't start. I'll miss a long quest and will never be able to buy a house in windhelm. And I will lost 20 hours of progress if I load my earliest save
I already regret this puchase. This is total bullshit Bethesda, thanks.

How come it won't start?
Enter Windhelm or immediate area 3 times and then enter Windhelm beetween 7am-7pm (IIRC).
You do have downloaded patches?
Also, never ever keep just one save, keep multiple ones and save often, regardless of game. Doubly so for any Bethesda game.

I tried everything. I entered windhelm 30 times, nothing happens. I can't buy this house, there is no murder ( but I know who the real killer is). It simply won' t trigger. I even stole the key to " the house" and found the documents and the amulet but it doesn't help. I have 24 savegames but only one before entering windhelm for the first time...because I entered it at the beginnig (2 hours in).

I have Skyrim on PS3, platinumed it and all. I'm getting a new computer and am thinking if I should buy the PC version of Skyrim. PS3 version doesn't really hold my interest anymore, so is the PC version practically a different game? Is it on sale on Steam?

In general it performs better. With mods, yes, it's a different game and experience. After getting my new PC and upgrading it even further, I will never play a TES game on console ever again. I originally got the game on 360. As for the Steam sale, I don't think so. At least not right now. I'll have to check when I get home to give a definite answer.

Okay, so I beat the Vampire questline of Dawnguard. Loved it, and yeah I agree with others when they say it was probably their favorite questline in the game.

I have a question about it though, for anyone who has played through both the Vampire and DG questline: Are they both relatively the same with few variances? Or are they both completely different questlines?

In any case, so glad I got this DLC. It had been months since I had played Skyrim, and it felt great to be back in the world again.

Completed Dawnguard and am nearly done with the Vampire line and there is a very large amount of overlap, with only a few small differences locale and storywise.

The DLC also adds new enemy models to most of the existing enemy types, gives you the ability to change your character's appearance for 1000 gold(there's woman located in the thieves guild rataway... you can't change your appearance after you're a vampire, though). They've included several kill animations as well. I only use swords and have noticed 4 or 5 new ones. And of course Dragonbone weapons. With about half of the Vampire questline left, I already feel I've gotten my 16-hunnid points worth.

You regret your purchase over one side quest? Geesh. Are you in the right place? There should be a dead woman with several people looking at the scene. There are two guards there, try talking to both of them. The one that gave me the quest line was the one standing. Initially I couldn't do it because I had a bounty (for transforming into a werewolf in the Windhelm area), but once I paid the fine it proceeded as normal. The guard will request you talk to the witnesses, then report back to him. He'll then direct you to someone in the Jarl's place that will officially give you permission to investigate the murders.

It's a known issue, I searched google. The dead body and the people never appear. The quest just won't trigger.
Patch 1.4 should fix this ( I started the Game with all patches installed) but it does nothing

OMFG HOLY MOTHER OF MARY IN HEAVEN I CANT BELIEVE IT WTF WHERE ARE MY SEDATIVES AAAAHHH
OK I don't know if I'm imagining things, but somebody popped in one of these Skyrim threads a couple days ago, and posted a very nice list of mods he recommended for the game, complete with description of what they do, and why they're cool.

He started off his post with something along the lines of "I'm feeling like a nice guy today, so I'm gonna suggest these mods"...or something like that I don't remember. I can't remember who the poster is or which thread it was posted in(this one or the PC Performance thread) but I can't find that post arrgh!!!!

If someone can help me out here I'd appreciate it :(

Is there a real reason to craft stuff that good though? If you can reach the armor cap by crafting badass versions of lower tiered armor which all weigh less per piece, aren't you better off?

Not if you have perks in your armor skill tree. There's a perk in the heavy armor that makes heavy armor weigh nothing, making weight a thing of the past. Honestly at this point is all about what I like best aesthetically, I don't even look at my armor rating anymore.

Anybody got all the Daedric artifacts? Some of the requirements to get them are rough, morally speaking. If you're not sacrificing friends and followers, you're making priests betray their own convictions before you behead them. It's crazy. I got two more to go: Mehrune's Razor and Volendrung. That last one to get the Spellbreaker too mad long. Dwenmer ruins are long!

Also a question, how do you defeat a legendary dragon? One of the achievements lists it. I've been told you need to be level 70+, but that's crazy. I simply don't have that kind of time!

Does the Oghma Infinium glitch work anymore? The one where you gain infinitely levels by reading it again and again?
If not, you could try doing that with another character: wipe the patches, make a new character, get the book, do the glitch to hit the level cap, patch the game, (enabling Dawnguard again too), find a legendary dragon. Takes some work but probably nowhere near as much as leveling a character normally up to 72+ or whatever was the legendary dragon's minimum appereance level.

Kick Serana and it'll work fine. Odd glitch based on having her as an follower.

Really? That's such a shame, I really like her as a follower.

Or don't use Vampire Lord form while she's around. Until, if, this is patched at least.

She does seem to have more personality than other followers though, definetly the right direction for Bethesda.

If they could just first fix the follower sneaking AI... actually, give them some AI. Do not walk in front of a melee player. Do not walk in front of a mage casting AOE spells. Use the weapons given, don't switch back. Heal thyself. Etc.

Yes, the good thing about Serana is that she won't start attacking you if you accidentally hit her with drain life. Had no idea there was a bug that weakened it if she was with you though.

I agree!

It's so frustrating sneaking around, trying to snipe, when all of a sudden my follower moves in front of me, and I loose a arrow into their back. Or, when I'm sneaking around, pause to survey the scene, and my follower decides to RAGE and pull the whole area.

This is on the Xbox. i don't know if the AI can be improved with mods.

I really doubt PC people can make it much better either. With extensive scripting maybe... but that is bound to be resource intensive and probably very easily breaking. I remember companion scripts in Morrowind breaking rather easily...

Has anybody ever found a fix/mod for equipping duel-wield weapons? I've always had an issue with this, where I could never quick-switch weapons into the correct hand. If I had two of the same weapons on a hotkey, it would never equip both (just switch between the two into my right hand), and if I had two different weapons on separate hotkeys, they'd both just go into my right hand as well.

It makes duel-wielding a pain, since I'm always forced to go into 'q' and set them manually.

Advice?

How are crossbows?

I reinstalled Skyrim for PC with a bunch of new mods after hype of the Dawnguard stuff.

They're.....fine. If you have an archery based character, you'll probably enjoy them for the novelty value and then go back to your favorite bow. I haven't even enchanted the dragonbone bow I made. I just like my daedric better.

There's also a bug that you'll randomly turn into a vampire if she's a follower, even if you're 100% immune to diseases for having beast blood. It simply overrides this and turns you into a vampire, with some sneaking blessings (that look like the permanent kind) and a weakness to fire. I got tired of re-starting over and over because this bug would trigger at random during fights, I eventually figured out it's because of Serana. Ever since I parted ways with her I haven't had the issue.

She also spawns at random times during combat after you kick her out, it's weird. Sorta awesome, but weird.

One time she was attacking me for no reason. I killed her, then reloaded the save. =P Cool follower, but damn she's bugged out.

-Edit-
As for crossbows, they pack a wallop but you shoot less often. If you're not an archer, they're a better choice than regular bows, IMO. Level up your achery around 70 and you'll be doing 1HK if you sneak, something I can't quite do with bows even at level 76 currently. You really do need perks for archery to be effective.

So I finished Dawnguard and have an item question...
I've given two of the Elder Scrolls back to the moth priest, but how do I get rid of the Dragon one? I've already talked to the orc dude in the College but I never had an option to give it to him.
