Nintendo Downloads - July 2012

Missed out on VVVVVVVV sale (busy weekend and I forgot) but no way will I miss out on MSF for that price.

One question: Is Mighty Switch Force better then Mighty Milky Way? I still need to play that as well...

It is. It never becomes a game of straight trial-and-error like Mighty Milky Way. Music, graphics and mechanics are much better than their two DSiWare Mighty games.

It's a no-brainer at $3. I can't wait to blast through it again on the 3DS XL.

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
I liked MSF quite a bit. I never bothered to finish MMW. I know some people will decry that as blasphemy, but I'd put my money on Switch Force.

Well I'm picking up MSF for sure. It's $2.99 while I believe MMW is somewhere around $8.99. But the gravity/planet concept is so awesome, wish even more games would use it.

Awesomeness!

It's updated now.

Huh. Just noticed no demo this week.

Kid Icarus GB and Wario Land have been added to the "Coming Soon" section on the eShop.

Bought ace mathician, only $2!

Edit: played a chunk of levels. Pretty fun, cute. Font is ugly, and for some reason the touch screen isn't very sensitive on it on my 3ds.

So, Kirby Pinball is good and Sword of Hope 2 is bad right? Already bought Kirby.

And that MSF deal is great. Why can't any of these deals be for games I don't have? :p

That MSF discount is really decent, might bite.

Sonic Labyrinth preview doesn't look fun. I just can't get into slow moving isometric action games so don't think I'll be getting it when it's released. And Sonic Blast's rendered graphics just look ugly. Sega needs to vary their GG releases. I'm still hoping they eventually release imports like Panzer Dragoon Mini. And has there been any rumours on the status of TG-16 games?

Spectacle Hurricane is a Space Harrier clone.

I don't distinctly recognise Skull Madness but it's very obviously influenced by Gauntlet, Tower of Druaga, etc.

I guess you skipped my post but they got you covered.

Thanks guys!

Bummer that my brother hasn't written back on the points.

Looks like I won't be getting MSF, which for 3 bucks I'm willing to get burned by WayForward again.

Frogger Hyper Arcade actually looks like it could be pretty good in a PAC Man CE kinda way.

Still waiting for SNK to release Pulstar and TSS.

I'm going to bite on Sword of Hope 2, just out of curiosity really. And I'll definitely get Mighty Switch Force this weekend. Way too good of a deal. VVVVVV was freaking awesome but I finished it not too long ago. Time for another good digital deal.

Between the digital offerings, Rhythm Thief/Theathythm/Pokemon Conquest, my 3DS is getting a lot of love and attention from me lately.

Darn, I was hoping for Sparkle Snapshots 3D in North America today. :(

(Seriously, lol. It looks nifty. At least there are some not-so-girly Mario themes and such.)

Still waiting for a Theatrhythm Final Fantasy demo, too... =/

Good to have Kirby's Pinball Land, though.

Is sword of hope anything like the FF Legends games? It doesn't look half bad for $2.99, although I'd rather have FF Legends, lol

edit: nm, it's not really an RPG, it's a MUD type game =(

Anyone here from Europe get Sparkle Snapshots 3D? And if so, do you have any impressions or photos you've made that you can share? :D

This 3D version looks a lot more tolerable for guys than the DSiWare version, lol.

I've been hesitant to recommend MSF to anyone because it's fairly short on content, but at $2.99 I say buy a copy, it's well worth it at that price.

The apparent screenshot in Nintendo Power dissuaded me from ever wanting MSF HD—it looks so sterile. I'd much rather have the 3DS version.

Agreed. The 3DS version is reminiscent of Megaman X in style, while the HD visuals just look like a cartoon or flash game. (full disclosure: I have an unhealthy fondness of pixel art) It just seems like it gains more from 3D than HD IMO.

Frogger seemed alright, based on the GB QL. But it's definitely no Pac-Man CE DX. The multiplayer modes looked pretty fun.

EvilMario

Will QA for food.
They have to save those games for the incoming Wii U / 3DS 1Q 2013 drought. Too bad they didn't seem to care about the 3DS drought at the beginning of the year though..

That Ace Mathician game is out this week. Someone buy it and post your impressions.

Bossy. Can't spare $2.
It does as advertised. Oh so sweet, but oh so short (unless another round of content unlocks when you finish up what's visible, but going by this guy's other great stuff, I doubt it).

and for some reason the touch screen isn't very sensitive on it on my 3ds.

Unfortunately the game is just tuned weirdly. It's looking for a fraction of a second hold on the on-screen buttons, rather than a tap (or double-tap) that is pretty standard. I fear lots of people won't figure this out (and why should they need to, really....) and just chalk it up as a shoddily developed game. And combine that with being so short....reviewers/the public will not be kind to an experience you probably shouldn't pass up.

Don't you mean the WiiU/3DS drought of Q1 2013 AND Q1 2014? =p

So I usually haven't had the experience of old games being less fun than I remembered. Usually I still enjoy them every bit as much as I did, if not more.

Well, Kirby's Pinball Land is a game that I just don't enjoy anymore. I really liked it back in the day, but now it seems barely better than Sonic Spinball. I think my memories of the awesome Pokemon Pinball must have bled into KPL, because that game still does hold up.

Indeed. I've been a detractor, but at that price I may buy it again on the wife's DS.

EDIT: Holy crap, THAT'S Ace Mathician???? I thought I dreamed that game! So, so bought.

I'm buying every new Neo Geo release from D4 even if I don't like some games. I want them to continue releasing these titles so bad.

Them coming back for some titles makes me hope they get Windjammers here.

Did anyone else notice Planet Crashers in the "coming soon" section of the eshop? Is this a Renegade Kid game? I seem to remember them working on something similar to this. It looks kind of interesting. Some kind of rpg hack n' slash or something.

Yeah, I saw that mentioned somewhere. $9.99!

It's some sort of dungeon crawler... there's not a whole lot of info out there, which seems strange given than Jools will spruik his games to anyone who'll listen, hah. He's compared it to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Paper Mario, but as far as I know it's not a roguelike or a turn-based game, so...?

whew, thought it was just me! yeah, I have to hold down on whatever icon for a moment to get it to register. I was afraid my touch screen was screwed up.

Does anyone really expect a $2 game to have a ton of content?

Sounds like something to pick up when I have some spare change in my eShop wallet.

Going to buy Kirby Pinball. Already have MSF.

And if still don't have Mighty Switch Force yet, there is really no excuse not to get it at this price. Great game.

Here are a couple previews from Destructoid and GamesRadar. Like Order Up! and Fractured Soul, it was originally intended to be a retail title until Ignition decided to abandon retail publishing.

These games must be selling decently right? I mean they've been kinda pumping these out as of late.

That or maybe they're just trying to get them on the shop before Wii U hits, and then go "hey look at all the stuff we have here!"

Since wii to wii u transfers are possible it stand to assume most if not all of the current Wii Shop catalog will be on the Wii U eShop, right?

3588 reviews when I downloaded MSF a short while ago. Can check in a week or two to see the minimum increase, probably from this weekend's sale.
