The pic has been posted a million times, but I'd so buy a wood grain PS3 slim. I'd really love if consoles looked like respectable upscale audio-visual devices you could put under your tv instead of large platic toy-looking boxes. I'd really love if wood came back. There's already bamboo laptops on the market. Why not.
So many of the limited edition PS3s and 360s look either like gaudy Hot Topic branded crap or paint decals you'd see on a 17-year-old's first Mazda.

I think ribbed top looks OK, but the glossy plastic on the edges looks really cheap and ugly. What it really needs is some woodgrain.
Now that's a sexy console.

Still the top selling consoles WW and doing better then other consoles. Doing well in europe

To be fair they had more room to drop
Will be interesting to see how this new version will be priced in different territories... Here in the Netherlands 360's are priced lower than PS3's (in general), while it seems to be the other way around in The States...

Jesus, that has to be one of the ugliest consoles ever. And the PS3 wasn't very pretty to begin with.

That looks tacky as hell. Especially the controller. When I was 12 I actually spray-painted one of my PS1 and a pad in gold. Wasn't a very good idea.

Regardless of appearance, I expect this new look PS3 to be the one that has sold the most units over the Slim 1 and the Fat by the time PS3s are no longer being sold.
The masses care about the cost, not the looks.
And I'll wait for actual shots before declaring it an abomination.

Take a look at the most beautiful console thread or whatever. Tastes are astoundingly different.
There is something about it. It just looks like a games console, as the N64 did. Now there are home entertainment hubs and should look accordingly. The PS2 looks like an nice piece of Sony home entertainment equipment. Which helped it's popularity, but lost a little charm in doing so.
The GCN was a silly design, a top loading cube should never have got the green light. It was adorable though, but functionally flawed.

They just used an old pic not to unveal their plans.
Current model is being discontinued right now, new models in September (or last week of Aug).
But you can pre-order that and the Madden one for $299. Is there any proof the current models are now inactive SKUs already?

I don't think there's a definitive proof at this point.
Point is that Sony's pattern is the same every year, old models are secretly (not so much
) discontinued every year during summer to make place for new SKUs in early September.For the Madden bundle there's a chance that it could be the last bundle with the current Slim.
For Assassin's Creed the bundle will be upgraded/changed from a Slim 320GB to a Slim+ 500GB at the same price.
PS: Btw I will try to ask to my friends at retail about the expected relase date for this.

Thats supper sexy minus the ugly Sega sammy logo. I love the blue leds like on the Wii, hope next gen consoles have leds too.

Why do these things never happen? I say we start a petition to get this classy stylish triple in store, and I would happily pay for it!
The one thing I did not understand with the PS3 is why they did not allow for custom covers. The fat PS3 had a nicely and easily removable top cover. They should have made it easier to interchange and sold game themed ones or at least allow third party ones.
