That episode was famous on here for being a complete clusterfuck.

Hmm, I don't think I'd go quite that far. For me a 'complete clusterfuck' would be a completely unwathchable episode either because it's extremely boring or terribly composed or edited badly.

Despite the episodes terrible art it still manages to just about hold it together in terms of direction. That's not to say that it doesn't have a lot of problems, because it does, but it's not completely worthless of every conceivable metric.

Mawaru-Penguindrum 11:

Threads are coalescing once again. This must be what the anidb.net tag "coincidentally everyone is somehow related" was referring to. The resolution of Ringo and Keiju's story arc leads into the next story arc, the one were Ringo becomes Shouma's tsundere lover. They seem to fit each other perfectly. Ringo is abusive and violent and blames Shouma for everything, and Shouma is a total doormat who blames himself for everything. I predict some seriously hot hate-sex coming right up. It's funny to think that if Ringo weren't such an occult-magic-stalker-psycho-bitch she would actually make a pretty decent waifu, what with being able to cook and also being kind of cute. Oh well.

Ringo is very very cute, but she's also batshit fucking crazy.

I really regret being such a lazy fuck about registering for an account for so long because I was honestly captivated by AnimeGAF's Penguindrum discussions and really wanted to jump in. It's what got me reading the thread on a regular basis.
I was originally attracted because I wanted to take part in the gaming discussion because I was getting sick of certain gaming blogs.

A little while later I found the 'Everyone Vote For Their Favourite Anime' thread and used it as a guide to help me get into anime for the first time. Once I'd tackled a number of titles in that threads 'top twenty' I really wanted to write some impressions of what I'd seen so that I could encourage others to experience those titles for themselves.

I briefly considered, and actually executed, a scheme to simply create a new thread for every anime I had watched and place "LTTP" in the title. As you might imagine these threads had limited success and extremely low post counts.

It was around that time that I noticed that GAF had a seasonal anime thread, see here. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=383521&highlight=anime+spring+2010
Of course, at that point seasonal anime threads would only reach a few thousand posts at max. For example, that thread only reached 1000 posts. I wasn't sure if talking about older anime was acceptable in a seasonal anime thread, because I imagined that such discussion would technically be 'off-topic' but I did it anyway.

That 2009 picture reminded me about Kaito Reinya. A show I would have strongly considered for the hnnngh but it seemed to be about the exact same thing as Saint Tail, which is done a million times better (and which was one of my holy grails of Cute that I now finally own)

Count me in as another one who came for Gaming and stayed for OT. And then quit OT to hang out with you guys.

I remember I started lurking back when the infamous Backstabbo at the Cabo incident was still developing. Boy that takes me back.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

And several people attribute the explosion in AnimeGAF activity to your arrival. Are you proud, or do you feel like you've created a monster?

It's sad, but at least we'll have Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun.

Maybe, I guess.

I'm glad Jex pulled a Sulla and retired to let Cajun take the seat. Always a classy way to go.

Meanwhile Cajun is going to eat some poisoned figs soon. :(

Oh god I remember that thread. Amazing.

poisoned figs? Is that a reference to something?

Huh. A comment on anidb.net led me to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarin_gas_attack_on_the_Tokyo_subway

This explains why the scene at the end of episode 11 occurs on a subway train plastered with the number 95, a motif which recurs throughout the series. It's also I guess why riding the subway is such a prominent and recurring event in all the episodes so far. It's kind of interesting to realize that the sarin gas attacks were still to this day the worst incident of domestic terrorism to occur on Japanese soil since World War II.

I joined GAF because the previous gaming forum I was on turned to crap.

Didn't post much in the anime thread until the infamous summer of 2010.

Wow, looking back, that was a pretty damn horrendous line-up.

Apparently, the only show from that season that I followed while it was airing and managed to finish was Durarara!.

That's even worse than the Summer '09 season that several people here refer to as the supposed worst season ever.

The summer of 2010 was when I first started posting too. I don't think I've made it into the Top 5 on the Wall of Shame after that first summer.

Eureka Seven 1-10

Sometimes I wonder to myself why these episodes exist. It isn't until after I watch them they introduce the characters and create a proper exposition for the members of Gekkostate. Still sort of meh but this first season isn't a bad starter for a show that ends in greatness.

easily the wisest choice to make

The name of this episode pretty much perfectly sums it up.
I didn't expect the Kaiser to die like that but it'll certainly act as a great catalyst to some serious backhanded political shit going down. It's nice to see Reinhard get even closer to the throne and Yang and co's promotion was pretty awesome too, especially with Julian starting! The scene at the end with Reinhard and a free Annerose was pretty touching.
I can't wait to see what happens next!

The stuff with Phezzan and the "Earth Cult" sounds really dumb though and damn this show for Truniht's increasing rise to power!!!!
