I am not sure what series of bizzare conversations took place for one to get to such a conversation like comparing one piece to sailor moon to happen??

Even at it's lowest one piece never reaches to the levels of sailor moon, am not saying this cause it's a shoujo or the characters are girls or piratez >magic girlz.

Sailor moon is one of the first animes I watched when I was kid in the early 90s, it aired right before saint seiya and after dr slump, so I do have strong nostalgic feelings towards it but it doesn't stop me from seeing it is what it is and that it is an extremely formalic monster of the the week show that continuously spams old footage at you advertising there merchandise.

One piece > any anime that prioritizes merchandise whoring over narrative

I wouldn't even give it apis and no way in hell davy back fight arc that arc had it's hilarious, incredible(sanji and zoro team up) and tons of wairo worthy troll moments.

I can't believe my MAL compatibility is highest with yours. It must be fraudulent.

That was pretty bad. Dumb cop out twist cliffhanger nonsense. The fight itself wasn't very exciting either. I also had to skip some awful looking swimsuit humor exposition shit. Maybe it's time to skip a few episodes of this again until it's back on form with the action. :/

But Sailor Moon was based on a Manga. It's not a Toy Selling show. That's Precure and even that is fairly good!

I'm wondering why you think One Piece is exempt from this.
Or how spending 3 minutes in OP and 5 minutes in recap doesn't constitute spamming old footage. At least it doesn't spam flashbacks as badly as Naruto did. Or how, instead of having individual plots in every ep filled with whatever they feel like, it spreads things out over 50+ eps so it doesn't overtake the manga.

Ever episode of One piece isn't interrupted by stock animation intended to advertise a bunch of toys and accessories.

One piece does have it's merchandize in stores thankfully it doesn't blatantly advertise them all up in your face and hurt the narrative or put the story on hold.

Not so sure about the manga since I have only read like 1 chapter, but This is the anime thread so I would imagine we would be talking about the anime, then sailor moon is on the same boat.

I don't really know how I feel about this movie. There are interesting things about it, like the consistently good use of quotations and an excellent visual style, but I found it very difficult to engage with events as they transpired. It bluntly presents its themes, offering little room for interpretation while failing to explore the themes it lays out. The sensation of time and place are loosely played with to the detriment of the movie's consistency/pacing, and an otherwise simple plot becomes complex primarily through obfuscation.

Probably the biggest difficulty I had was that I felt unable to really latch on to any of the characters, so rather than ever really connecting to the film I felt like a bystander the whole time. I'm glad I watched the movie, but the unrealized potential stands out more to me than the things that went right.

I wish the show in your avatar had been marketed better. Or even better, actually released here so people could buy it.

Wasn't it released here? there is a version dub on youtube.

No. 4Kids licensed it and showed it on TV. No subs, no dub DVD, no nothing for people to purchase. Not even merchandise. Plus they called it Hollywood mew mew or some shit.

I looked it up. They called it Mew Mew Power and only aired half of it.

fuck fuck fuck

I really thought they might go through with it. It's so weird having a character be such an impetus in pushing lessons in experience and morality ike the Heartseed guy does.
It gives everything a weird manufactured feel although not in a bad way. It's just more I expect natural courses of events to impart this stuff.

What I wouldn't give for a buddy cop show starring Bobby and Momou. Those two have chemistry.

Revisiting whatshisface's house to work on that whole selfish morality lesson certainly isn't this episode's (maybe show's?) strong point either. Didnt' even care about that cliffhanger.

Back when I thought that it was actual Dr. Pepper in Steins;Gate, I intentionally bought a few times to "support the industry", hahahah.

What is stock animation?

I used to order Pizza Hut every Sunday. I couldn't actually watch Geass without munching on some Pizza Hut.

I blame CC.

I also really like both Strawberry and Rum Raisin Haagen Dazs :(

On the plus side, the recaps make it much easier to get caught up since each episode ends up being like 14 minutes.

I dont think theres nothing wrong with stock animation, I never get tired of seeing them Kougas or Soumas or any of the rest in Saint Seiya Omega, or Natsu's attacks in Fairy Tail, or Takuto's in Star Driver or the Electric Brier.

I'd even patronize brands advertised in "this show is brought to you by the following sponsors" bits if any of them actually existed over here. The only international brands that I ever see advertised are McDonald's and Square-Enix, which I think is a sign that anime is trying to kill me.

FT is actually really good on not resorting to stock animation past the first 30ish episodes or so. Yeah, Natsu is using the same attacks a lot, but it rarely does the "stock background/movement" thing anymore.

there we go.

Proof, if proof were needed, that Super Robot shows and Magical Girl shows are one and the same.

I can get behind this comparison.

Strawberry Haagen Dazs is kinda lame. Strawberry Cheesecake is where it's at.

Well both are typically where the toy selling anime get slotted in... We may be on to something here!

Application is everything. There's a difference between using your flaming punch to hit someone and using your flaming punch as a thruster to propel yourself through a strong barrier. This is also something FT is good at.

It would probably depend on the stock animation itself and how they use it.

If it is used the same way every time, takes too long and can probably be seen as time filler, that's bad.

If it is lively, kinda makes the show, sometimes changes in length, then sure, spam me that animation.

If that was Strawberry Cheesecake instead I would have had a month long craving for Strawberry Cheesecake.

Good thing it wasn't because that shit is gross.
