Gotta admit that this played a role when I started using an avatar of Twilight Sparkle.

It was NeoGaf that got me interested in MLP:FIM. Seeing all of the out of context MLP gifs and screenshots all over NeoGaf was pretty entertaining so I decided to take a look at what the actual show was like.

Aniplex is now ready to make tons of money from people at C82.

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate set (4000 yen)
- pink Chisato and blue Satsuki t-shirts, with illustrations by Hiroaki Gohda
- talk CD with Eriko Nakamura and Asami Imai (Haruka and Chihaya Chisato and Michiru)

Asami Imai is in this show!? I first heard her as Kurisu in Steins;Gate and loved her voice. During the second half or just after S;G The Idolm@ster aired where she voiced Chihaya and I thought she had a very nice singing voice as well. I was hoping to hear her in more shows but she doesn't seem to appear in very many.

still waiting for Chitanda X Irisu

I wouldn't mind seeing that. I kind of like the following Irisu X Oreki fanart, Potentially NSFW, here http://i.imgur.com/y5kid.png

I actually considered this as my Irisu avatar but I thought it might have been enough to be NSFW

How do you feel about Sailor Moon's various transformation themes? They use a combination of orchestral and electric/synthesized music (though mostly orchestral) and I personally believe to pretty great effect.

Personally my favorite transformation song Is that of the outer senshi.

This is one of my favorite songs in general. I like the Starlights transformation song as well but won't link any videos because the related ones seem to contain major series spoilers just in their titles.

I'm more of a Baroque man myself.

I too enjoy Baroque pieces of music. An Hatsune Miku song with Baroque style music could make for...an interesting combination.

You guys weren't kidding about Accel World 17 hahah.

First time posting here, please treat me nice :)

Hello, Welcome to NeoGaf. :)

You joined :D

I saw that lovely Sawa avatar and just had to get you over here.
And no worries, you're among friends.

Oh? Friend of yours?

Yes, hypocrites are shitty. I guess that means everybody is shitty because we are all hypocrites but thats a technicality. I grew a thick skin over time about many things, so not much gets to me, but I hate dealing with people who say one thing and do another.

It's true that everyone has been a hypocrite at some point just like lying or being rude but it's when people do it very regularly over a variety of subjects when it gets pretty annoying.

As for your gender, animeGAF has all kinds, and I do means all kinds. We dont discriminate.

I blame Hitokage Haha. I think we've become friends, as much as you can through NeoGaf anyway, and his "Nafe forever anonymous :(" post made me kind of feel bad. Combine that with his avatar where it seemed to be giving off a puppy dog eyes type look, Haha

That's where I made the vague being :Chet comment and switching avatars to pretend to give it away but in the end I didn't want to. I'm sure we can still be friends though, I think we hit it off pretty well.

Shaft does need to make a short series. I haven't heard an announcement though. Where did you hear of this?

I'm pretty sure it was from here in the Anime OT. I can't remember specifically who or when though, sorry.

I remember hearing that reported, but I think it was just a misinterpretation of Nintendo rerunning the shorts on their video service.

Was that what it was? Aw, that's really too bad then. :(

I love this gif. One of the best parts and one of the best Shaft head tilts I've seen.

SHAFTed Palutena is a miracle of the universe.

Isn't she? I thought about having her as my avatar when I was joining but went with Minako instead.

I'm on team hinagiku

Hinagiku > maria >
Athena
> Isumi >>>> the rest

This is exactly the correct order!

Nagi is last out of the rest too.

I've heard things about Hinagiku in season 2, but I haven't entirely gotten there yet.

I will make my official rankings after I finish that, but as far as up to Ep. 48 in season 1, I am in Team Maria right now.

Nagi deserves Wataru only to get her out of Hayate's quasi-harem that doesn't technically exist.

Things got out of hand near in the sconde part of the first season ...
S2 will rewind the clock and use real manga events and then ..you'll see ..

I'm glad the anime-original material didn't start till like the last two episodes. I mean, that entire end event still happens in the manga too, just the outcome of it and how it gets resolved is different is all.

I've never touched the Soul Eater manga, so I was never really aware of when exactly the anime-original material begins. That's later than I assumed.
MAKA IS ALSO A WEAPON
initially pissed me off just for being such a deus ex machina, and only later did I realize that it was at least partially non-canonical.

Yeah, also very good. It has a power and elegance to it that's starkly different from the arguably campier Inner Senshi themes, which is entirely character-appropriate.

My personal favorite is this modified vocal version of the Sailor Moon R transformation theme that was only used in the Sailor Moon R movie. It's a shame that a longer version doesn't exist.

that I actually decided to read the manga to see what the hell actually happened, but after I had watched the series.

I seriously thought I was being trolled.

Just as a bit of mental exercise, and in wake of the twist and turns in Eureka Seven AO's plot I've started compiling a list of BONES titles with needlessly convoluted plots that may or may not resolve into cluster-fuck endings. I really don't know why this problem afflicts BONES and it's writers but really, it must be stopped. Piling ridiculous sub-plots and bizarre story devices on top of your core narratives rarely strengthens the characters or the emotional bond that you want the audience to have with them. It just makes a mess.

Here's my list of examples:

- Rahxephon, to a certain extent
- Darker Than Black, towards the ending but especially
- Darker Than Black S2 because of obvious reasons
- X'amd was clearly made up as they went along
- Un-Go, while being an extremely confusing mess feels extremely deliberate in the way it obfuscates everything.
- Eureka Seven AO - I don't even know where to begin

Is this just a natural consequence of creating an anime from scratch, rather than basing it off of a manga or is it simply to do with the writers at BONES? Oh, and yes, I am aware that not all those titles I listed are wholly original in nature.

I think it has to do with the writers at BONES, however you could make a good argument for a large amount of anime writers in general. Although clearly they aren't the same for all these productions, something about the studio makes people lose their mind near the end. Even Eureka 7's(OG series) original ending was completely off the fucking wall and would have introduced a lot of shit in the end. Hell you forgot the original FMA, Soul Eater, and Wolf's Rain. All of them kinda go off the rails near the end.

That happened in the anime? lol

Also the Soul Eater manga kinda went into convoluted clusterfuck territories but not too deep to make it too confusing

Kuroko no Basket 18

Aomine(damn Kobe!) & team kicked their assess all over the court. The kid's ball handling skills are ridiculous. the final score of 112 to 55! Anyway things get better next ep with the appearance of a new guy! Team is at a cross roads at this point and this is when the manga got better. Yep that's right people it's going to get better!

I am pretty excited after just reading through the list of anime available on Crunchyroll on my PS3. I have never seen the original Galaxy Express 999 series beyond the first two, and there's also Captain Harlock as well. This really made my day as these two are ones that I have been meaning to see for years, but never got the chance.

The amazing thing about the Soul Eater anime finale is that it actually makes perfect sense when you think about it. It doesn't make it any less horrible, but when you consider the fact that
Maka's mom and dad were a Master and Weapon
, it suddenly seems plainly obvious. LOL

Really boring episode. I mean, the best part was just watching Kirito napping, which was nice. I wish they would throw in way more action, thats what made many of the previous episodes compelling. Asuna is really dull too, Yoruko as well. The plot this episode was also lacking any sort of feeling or interest, being on the predictable end with its conclusion didnt help either
I mean even I could tell she was going to fall out that window that was open in that room
.

I hope Grimrock gets screen time. The fandom is also pretty funny, I dont know why anyone would wish to live in the Sword Art Online world, being in a place where sleep pk's is possible even in safe zones is just a baffling consequence to accept.

Now and Then, Here and There - 08

Ok, after eight episodes, i think i can pinpoint what problem i have with this anime: The way the characters act doesn't make any freaking sense!

First, we have Hamdo. He's an insane dictator. That's ok. Our history had its share of insane dictators too. The problem is, Hamdo is just insane. Hitler was out of mind too, but he also was a capable orator and strategist. Hamdo is crazy and incompetent, how the hell did he rise to power? Also, his plot armor is fucking ridiculous, what was the point of that stupid
assassination attempt? Jeez.

Then, we have Abelia. Why is she so devoted to Hamdo? Certainly, her character type isn't rare, but they usually have strong reasons to be so attached to the evil dude. Abelia shows no sign of them, she just is.

Sara character is fine, but she seems to exist only for drama.

The only character i can relate is Nabuca, his internal conflict makes sense and it's well constructed.

Also, they have
machines that can traveler thorough time-space and they can't think of a way to use them to gather resources!? Just blow a wormhole through Lake Michigan or something, dude.

From what I remember about that show, the only one I disliked was the main character. He was such an annoying, one-note, endless spring of optimism. A character like that might work in something light-hearted like One Piece, but not the kind of world he was thrown into.

There was one scene where *vague spoiler*
he talks to one of the girls after something bad happens to her
, and I don't think I've ever wanted to punch an anime character more.

Kuroko no Basket 18

zzzz.

Man, this match is took way too long. Not to mention that they showed that they blew through their budget near the end. Man, I'm glad that finally finished this match and moving on.

Unfortunately the app is only in 480p.

Such an awful, awful decision. I really don't get how they can justify that or how Sony can even allow it to be released like that in the first place.

That's not really true. After the Kishin revival, they still attempted to follow the manga, but stuff got shifted around, important events were changed entirely, and even character relationships were altered. For example, Marie's ex-boyfriend in the anime was Stein, but it was Joe Buttataki in the manga.

IIRC, the Arachne arc was still going on when the anime got there, so they both had completely different conclusions and follow-ups.

Sounds kinky.

Everyone has fun in the Dog days universe ...

-----kokoro connect 05 -------

Very good episode ... very strong .. quite emotionnal
This show is quite the best of the season easily ..

Everything just work ..the chemestry between the cast is admirable AND the voice actors are making a well excellent job using every personnality in each voice ...

Excellent episode

Kirito is a brilliant detective.
"So this sword managed to kill somebody in a safe area, and we don't know anything about it except for its name and the name of the guy who made it. Guess I'll stab myself in the hand with it and see what happens next!"

Anyway, alright episode as the first multi-part story. Looking forward to next week.

Yeah, I was only talking about the Arachne arc. I had watched the show roughly 1 year after it came out. I should have used the word "some".

Pretty much every mecha show is going to have it's roots in some other mecha show which in turn was inspired by some other mecha show. At least, that's the impression that I've gotten based on my fairly limited experience with the genre.

The genealogy of a particular title might be quite interesting if you're happy enough to be an 'anime historian' as it were. However I've often found that some of the shows that I've watched as a part of that process have been quite...bad. Which isn't to say that 'all old anime', by which I mean 70's era stuff, is bad. It's just that I've had some less than stellar experience. In particular, the original Space Battleship Yamato was quite a chore to sit through. On that note, how are you finding Daitam 3?

Their basic premise is rather similar with the wealthy well-to-do playboy running around in the titular giant robot serviced by his skilled butler and the two women vying for his attention. It diverges from there although The Big O episode titled 'The Villain' reminds me of this and other older show due to just how silly it is. Even though I really liked Beck, it never set well with me in that series but at least I can better understand where it comes from although I suppose Beck's machine made it pretty clear.

As for Daitarn 3,it's really inconsistent. There's a level of humor that the show opens with and I think set the tone so when I get the show playing the super robot thing straight, it's not too enjoyable. When it's silly, crazy, and feeling like a parody of the genre, it's pretty great.

Sword Art Online Episode 05

Pretty boring episode.

Fitting that the most boring girl is featured in a boring episode! Where's Silica?

(Yes I'm being facetious. Mostly.)

Anyhow the episode was pretty a'ight. Pretty slow but also fairly relaxing in a weird way. More MMO things introduced such as 'Sleep PKing' and what-not. Not gonna lie I'm not too interested in the mystery itself. I don't feel invested enough in the involved characters to really care about what happens to them but hopefully the culprit proves to be interesting.

Also,
why do all the nice girls have to die? ;_;

I find myself thinking I should be paying better attention to the dates. That was a surprisingly well done episode for the whole mystery bent but unfortunately boring as I saw the ending coming. The tale of a spreading exploit was pretty neat though.

This is a good way to undermine the drama surrounding the murder.

So is the Saki thing just an attempt by trolls to ruin the competition?

I don't think it's trolls, I think it's uber-fans - I think Saki did scarily well back when the first season aired as well.

I have only watched one of the series listed in those preliminaries to completion (PingDrum), and the vast majority of them I haven't seen a single episode of. Are there plain old "best character" polls out there, or is it always just moe rankings? I guess they're synonymous for many fans but it would be interesting to know - I know there's SaiMecha but I don't really care about mecha either.

I can't take polls seriously when you have characters from shows like Highschool DxD making the top 5. :lol
