Lol! Don't start!

*flips hair*
Too cool for yuri school.

The original Yamato TV show is only worthwhile if you want to see some good old mechanical animation; otherwise it hasn't aged well.
That seems unfortunate. Although if 2199 is supposed to be a remake, maybe they're at least similar enough to be worth watching for me.

Ah someone else is finally watching it. Episode 3 was my favorite so far, so flashy and the glasses when the Wave Motion Cannon was fired! Cool.!

I think I just realized that Kodai seems to bevoiced by Top Gun, Yuuya Bridges (muv luv alternative) va so even better, hope he gets way more screentime in yamato.
Kodai seems to be the main character, so I don't think that'll be a problem. :p
Speaking of the gun, I love that this is a show with countdowns and massive technobabble. It's so ridiculously retro. lol

That's without any question the best song of the Sailor Moon soundtrack.

And the main reason why the the outer senshi (with Saturn) are better than the other girls.

Another one of my complaints, personal anyway, with Sailor Moon was that Sailor Saturn didn't have as much screen time as I would have liked. I wanted to see a lot more of her. Maybe we'll get to see more of her in the new show, however it will work out.

Really boring episode. I mean, the best part was just watching Kirito napping, which was nice.
Haha, I'm not watching Sword Art Online, I'll probably pick the show up later, but if the most interesting thing that happened this episode was watching someone take a nap, then that does sound like a pretty boring episode.
Damn, I last posted ITT almost forty pages ago. Keeping up with this thread is like a full time job.
Haha, I mentioned that too when I first joined. Looks like we need more Ikuhara and Oshii talk to motivate you. I was actually thinking of re-watching Innocence sometime as I haven't seen it for a few years. Dance in my Blood actually just gave some thoughts on it back on page 114 I think it was.
Well Ive been slowly getting conditioned to embracing slice of life. However, I think in shows that are focused on action, slice of life moments just really have no place in them, just distracts from the main attraction, really.
Ah, Ok. I wasn't sure if you meant in general or how it was used more specifically in the show itself.
I dont see how I could really relate to her or to them, just design and apperance wise really hold them back from being embraceable. I dont get the same excitement and desire to want to see them succeed as I do when I look at Saint Seiya Omega. I can always rally behind Kouga or Souma, but not with those of SM.
Ok, I got my answer, I'll leave things at that then.
The outer senshi transformation theme certainly is nice. I'm not sure if it's my favourite though. I guess the vocal themes for the other senshi edge ever so slightly if not only on the cheese factor they have. ("Saaaaaalah Viiiiiiinaaaass!" etc)
In general, I'm actually not sure if I have one favorite song above all the others. I'm not really a favorites type of person.
Well you got your answer in the end. And yes please do watch the K-ON! movie.
I did maybe get more out of it than you might think.
As for the movie I'm going to try and watch it soon. I was actually going to earlier but then things came up and I was busy.
You are underestimating the value of the collective effort of fans myself. I mean I posted a wiki dedicated to collecting bath/shower scenes in anime a few pages back. In comparison, the infamous Sailor Moon pantyshot pdf is nothing. And yeah a lot of them are related to a few specific outfits though a lot of them are indeed very dubious, not that they detract from the show either way as they are never quite "in your face"
Yeah, I've seen that bath wiki posted in the thread before. While it has its moments I also like how the "panty shots" in Sailor Moon just happen along with the events unfolding rather than being a focus like in many anime today.

I suppose it was more the content I found odd because I actually like these wikis that tell you all the real world weapons used or maybe the reference to other shows type wikis.

Also, quick question, what's your avatar from? Something like Upotte! or maybe Sora no Woto?
That's all I ever saw of Glass Fleet too! Then I came on and ranted about it and then these masochists here all picked it up and never stopped talking about it for six months.
Haha, yeah that sounds like AnimeGaf.
If that S and M guy from InuxBoku SS were to categorize the posters here, he'd be throwing around a lot of M's.

Who knew something as minor as making Udon could be so emotional and awe inspiring. Fantastic episode.

Crest and Banner look way too anime and as for LOGH, I already sat through Tytania. :p
I haven't seen Tytania or Crest/Banner of the Stars but the first 16 episodes I've seen of LOGH have been absolutely incredible.

LOGH is actually good though.
I have no idea how similar the two are, since the only thing I know about LOGH are the costumes, but I don't think I can take another series that is basically Game of Thrones in space. Making everyone royalty or at least the type of people who would wear fabulous costumes and accessories is a bit beyond the pale for me I think.

Of course, maybe it's nothing like that and the characters are normal Naval officers who are camping it up for some reason. I'm sure there are some Admirals in the US Navy who wear capes, right? lol

Are they out of the capsule yet? Because holy fuck. lol

If you've seen Tytania, maybe you'd understand my reluctance. lol

trappings of da setting, man.

Besides only one side goes for capes and shit, the other side is comfortably shabby.

So it's not a bunch of space royals having a pissing match about territory and trying to win the Game of Thrones become the Master of Orion/Emperor of the Galactic Empire?

That was the show I watched the same night as Glass Fleet. First episode had, what, some kind of matchlock spaceship guns disguised as some other ship to trick the enemy right? God that shit was stupid.

It's really only the Galactic Empire (think space Prussia) with the rather fabulously outlandish clothing while the Free Planets Alliance and the Phezzan Dominion are far more down to earth in their attire.

Haha, nope! It hasn't really stopped this show from being any less amazing and it looks like they'll be leaving the capsule in an ep or two anyway!

Yep. lol

I mean, I guess it was charming because it came off as Japanese Firefly/Serenity (rogue with a heart of gold getting up into space hijinks with space royals) but it just got tedious by the end. And heck, it didn't even end properly. lol

Look, you're all great people here, and I have the utmost respect for you all, but this fallacious bullshit needs to end. I've run the numbers, I've thoroughly examined the facts, and it all points to one unwavering, objective truth: Asuna is best girl.

Owned. Get dunked, nooblord.

Also, I still don't understand. Do they feel things or do they not? You can kill someone in their sleep without them noticing, but then that dude was like spazzing out trying to take the spear out.

What if I told you that the best guy was Egil and the best girl was actually Kirito. Lolz.

While there is political intrigue among the royals and Reinhards accent to the throne in the Galactic Empire, the show equally focuses on the turmoil within the democratic Free Planets Alliance and Yang trying to make the best of an incredibly corrupt and poorly governed democracy.

Jeeeeeesus.

I really, really, really
hope that they're doing "bottle" episodes because of some amazing animation/sakuga thing coming up soon. Or maybe this is their way for paying for the Houston arc from awhile ago.
I'd say it's the later but them being stuck in a capsule really hasn't stopped this show from being any less incredibly well written and full of truly fantastic and evocative scenes.
Thanks. I'm waiting to catch up until they're out.
I'll give y'all the heads-up when they're finally out but I'd still recommend on catching up with it instead of waiting anyway as you'd be surprised with just how much mileage they can get out of a rather limited space.

Man, that second half of the episode really struck a chord; I'm sure everyone knows what it feels like to finally find a group of peers that share a otherwise unloved hobby/passion of yours. Excellent stuff.

"way to anime" doesn't that describe the majority of what you watch? :/
crest / banner is pretty naturalistic in terms of dialogue and atmosphere, it's definitely not "way to anime" lol.

Gintama 21 -sleeping with fan on will give a stomach ache? is that how you die from fan death?

I like this two storys an ep format better, episode was pretty good, the reactions shots to fan breaking and gin making a random man cry was pretty cool.

but 21 eps on am still baffled how Mad Pierrot and wonzo would claim this as being the best shounen, I haven't seen anything above just being good yet, I wouldn't but it above the first 21 eps of naruto or even bleach really.

Mawaru-Penguindrum 12:

And now, phase 2 of the show begins. It seems this show is split into two parts in much the same way Steins;Gate was. The first part was just setting up characters and unloading enormous amounts of backstory and exposition on us. The second part is about to begin and it concerns Hououin Kyouma's Kanba, Shouma, and Ringo's desperate race through time and space to save Mayushii Himari from her eternally fated tragic death. Tutturu~ SEIZON SENRYAKU!

I'm still not sure if this whole story actually counts as a retcon of the real 1995 Tokyo sarin gas attacks. They talk about explosions and a lot of smoke, making the whole thing seem like a much bigger terrorist incident with bombings than the sarin gas attacks actually were. In that sense it could be thought of as metaphorical, the emotional and cultural impact of the attacks was much larger than the actual toll in human lives, which it was. America has had large buildings destroyed twice by terrorists with many thousands of innocent lives lost, Europe has had huge subway bombings with hundreds of lives lost. The actual number of lives lost on March 20, 1995 in Tokyo was 13.

From what I remember about that show, the only one I disliked was the main character. He was such an annoying, one-note, endless spring of optimism. A character like that might work in something light-hearted like One Piece, but not the kind of world he was thrown into.

There was one scene where *vague spoiler*
he talks to one of the girls after something bad happens to her
, and I don't think I've ever wanted to punch an anime character more.

Him being an hot-blooded pollyanna is kind of the point.

God damnit. That's the post-anime crap you were talking about I presume?

While there is political intrigue among the royals and Reinhards accent to the throne in the Galactic Empire, the show equally focuses on the turmoil within the democratic Free Planets Alliance and Yang trying to make the best of an incredibly corrupt and poorly governed democracy.
It sounds way more politics-focused than I'd probably be ready for. Tytania was the same way, with guys in capes blahblahblah'ing about their positions and the state of the universe rather than focusing on the people who run and fly the ships. But we'll see.

I'd say it's the later but them being stuck in a capsule really hasn't stopped this show from being any less incredibly well written and full of truly fantastic and evocative scenes.
It's getting really samey, especially since they're necessarily limited to the same two sets of five characters. What's even worse is that they're not even bothering to show what's going on in the third capsule because there's no one we care about in it (which makes me wonder why they even had those characters in the first place). It's still fun to see Nanba I suppose, but I'm also ready to move on with the next step of the process, since it's pretty easy to see where it's going.

Yeah, it's all pretty bad. Certainly nothing they'll ever cover with this first series, but with a sequel, who knows.
M-moe~

So, does Asuna dress up as male now that Kirito plays a female? Can I really have Asuna as Mai Wonderful Husbando?

He's
not actually a girl, just a girly boy.

Anyways Asuna turns into this as per (minor spoilers) a picture of Kirito's harem post-SAO http://i.imgur.com/40p5E.jpg

All must go through the trial that is Guilty Crown.

Yeah, it's all pretty bad. Certainly nothing they'll ever cover with this first series, but with a sequel, who knows.

This was so fucking terrible I can truthfully say Eiken is better. This was so bad I bumped up all my lower scores on MAL so this could reign over the rest of my list alongside the Gundam 00 movie as the only 1 ratings.

Aw, I liked it (in a shock value kind of way). Best part is it's considered shounen.

so many facial expressions, I like the focus on them in the episode. watching this so early in the morning and being sleepy wasn't a good idea xD
I jumped back when that girl went all crazy near the end
. As someone who prefers talk and mystery over action, this episode was pretty good.
