Final Fantasy Versus without the 13 would be just fine. It could be a special case, like Final Fantasy Tactics.
And if it's great then Final Fantasy Versus 2 could come, as long as they still do FF15 in due time.

Yeah! Just like I said, it can be like the SMT series. There's the SMT games and the seperate Persona series
So we can have the numbered FF series and also a Versus series.
OK I'm losing control of my thoughts here lol.
Why do you care about that happening though?
I would say that technologically, we have actually, but even if that's not the case, developers could spend a fortune, and years, squeezing a tiny bit more performance from these consoles, or we could all just get massively better consoles, and developers could run wild.

Games coming out still look great. Why is that not good enough?
Call me old fashioned, but I think gameplay is sliiightly more important.
And cheaper.
So this is the point where games look great? Not two years ago? Not the end of the last generation? This is the point where we should stop progressing? Why?
And it's nothing to do with being old fashioned, gameplay is not inherently related to visual fidelity. Making a game look prettier, does not make it play worse.

I still think some PS1 games look great. I think people are in too much of a rush to make games look better instead of having them play better.
FFVIII and IX especially.
Yeah nice looking games for PS1, MGS was good too, mostly because of design rather than graphics.
I think it's design rather than graphics that makes a game look great after all the years. e.g Zelda Windwaker.

I remember Parasite Eve 2's visuals blowing me away when I first played it. Looks pretty great on PSP, too.
I completely agree, Vagrant Story still looks awesome and I would say the same about FF IX, there are not many PS1 games that look like these two IMO.
Type-0's association with Final Fantasy XIII's world didn't hurt it. If anything, it made XIII look better.

Type-0? Sure it did. The tie-in to the mythology at least made it seem like something important and over-arching was going on between XIII and XIII-2, rather than the flurried mess of craptasm that is Toriyama's writing.

It's not like Nojima has written anything good since the nineties.
The PS2 probably didn't hit its potential until the PS3 had been out for more than a year.
That said, neither of the HD consoles this gen has been as dominant as the PS2, so development on them probably won't last as long after next gen launch.
I hope the itou project will be their most secretive project.
I would argue some of his novels have been very good.
Wasn't that the teaser for their Unreal Engine 3 mobile project that turned out to be Demon's Score?
No, there's a separate UE3 action game they have in development. Demon's Score developer is iNiS.

He's probably working on FFXV. Won't be thaaaat secretive once we get there. They'll announce it farily close to the release date, after learning their lesson with Versus.
