If I had to bet, I'd say Army of Two coming to Wii U. Either that or Ubisoft hired them for the rumored Splinter Cell port. Not too many other "well-known" franchises coming in 2013.

Or it could come to be a new game, yet to be announced for all consoles.

Come on EA give me Mirror's Edge 2!!!!!

Other thread died so I'll just repost my crazy ramblings here:

Make it a 1080p 60fps standard or no go, for 3rd parties on the system (1st party as well).

Multi console support is going to likely be shit anyway (especially once the competition releases their almost assuredly overpriced fun boxes), so why not have something you can claim the others can't. Plus, imagine the ninty titles and their art style being displayed with that kind of performance/image quality? Developers couldn't shoehorn games at that res, and will either be forced to be artistically creative or gtfo. Kinda like gfx equivalent of the wiimote.

Its a stupid wish, I know. Most folks will probably still be using composite cables to go along with their shiny new LED TV they over paid for

Waddaya guys think?

I fully back 1080p at 60 fps as standard, even if it means the complexity of models and environments have to be toned down.

Mass Effect 3 Wii U developer "very conscious of not wanting to mess up"

Thanks for the info! Straight Right sound like the right people for the job. Although, I'm honestly hoping they beef up the multiplayer for the Wii U release. It's probably the best part of the overall package (on the other formats).

No chance (this gen; WiiU/PS4/720). And I wager you'd be in the minority on that one.

Eh, to me it's more of a tacked-on extra, and not a particularly engaging one. But that's just my opinion.

Do any 1080p/30fps games even exist? Kinda weird to bring up 720p/60fps and that in the first place.
I like 60 fps :)

I posted this in the Bethesda thread, but one of the main problems Nintendo is facing here in terms of 3rd party support is that they basically have to deal with a whole new environment of developers. Nintendo likely didn't anticipate the rise of the western PC devs in the console space and so didn't really make the Wii to attract them at all. It ended up attracting the usual western publishers: Ubisoft, EA, THQ, etc.

The problem they have here is that many of the most important 3rd party console games are coming from companies that have no previous working relationship with Nintendo. Bethesda, id, BioWare, Arkane, and Irrational have all basically never shipped a game for Nintendo hardware (there might be a couple in there and a few ports they oversaw). They probably don't feel comfortable in Nintendo's environment at all right now.

Here is a question that probably nobody knows and has probably been asked a million times, and I'm sure that everybody who frequents this thread is tired of it:

What can be expected from the September 13 conference?

Price
Launch-Date
More and New Footage of already existing games.
Demonstration of the new features of Wii U.
Maybe the announcement of 1 or 2 games (may happen, may not).
New demos, therefore we are getting impressions of almost-finished games.
Perhaps, information of something else.

I think that, all of that is the basic stuff that we can hope to get. Don't get too hyped xD.

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
I've already said my opinion: don't know about the original title, but the known franchise should be NfS Most wanted.

You can't honestly believe that. It'll be some shit like Army of Two.

It's the only console where it would work well, and EA isn't in the business of ANYTHING being exclusive if they can help it.

and Nintendo and SimCity do have history(even if some of it's not so great)

A lot of good stuff.

Hardware:
- Launch Date
- Price of SKU(s)
- What colors will be available
- What is included in the box
- Amount of internal flash memory
- Price of the WiiU Pro Controller
- (Maybe) Hard Drive options/prices

Software Installed on WiiU:
- More about the OS
- More about MiiVerse (including Accomplishments?)
- Details about account system/friends list/online (some, at least)
- Details about included software (games & applications)

eShop:
- (Maybe) see the interface
- List of titles at launch and launch period
- Updated Demos
- (Maybe) news about eShop and retail demos for the consumer

Retail Software:
- Titles at launch
- Dates for key software not at launch (P-100, etc.)
- Announcement of Unconfirmed 3rd party ports:
> BLOPS 2
> (Maybe) 007 Legends
> (Maybe) Need for Speed: Most Wanted
> Something on the Japanese developed side
- Nintendo Land blowout:
> What the other 7 attractions are (not just what IP)
> What the hub is for (if anything)
> How accomplishments work and potential friend list integration
- Updated Demos
- (Maybe) some title being packaging with peripherals (wii-mote +, WiiU Pro Controller)

And maybe, a tease or two regarding 2013 software outside the the launch window.

Important: What we won't see:

- Specs released or discussed by Nintendo
- Spoiling all the big guns they have slated for E3 2013

He has two issues. The first is a technical issue, yet they had no problem releasing Oblivion shortly after the launch of the 360. Also we're not even necessarily talking about games during launch window, but also a late port of their games, maybe in 2013 (or when an inevitable "GotY" edition comes out). Even then we talk about the same company that doesn't seem to have any problem releasing extremely buggy or even (at times) unplayable versions of their games, see the PS3 version of Skyrim. So suddenly the explanation seems a lot less reasonable by itself.

The other issue is a weird one, it's...not really an issue actually. He talks about how they can't know when their audiences moves over to next gen, but doesn't bring up anything as to why they couldn't support both gens in this case or why it's a reason for ignoring Wii U. He says that "your install base always starts at zero", but given that most publishers - in Bethesda's case Oblivion for the 360 - tend to support some consoles from the very beginning it seems some zeros are bigger than others. No one is expecting them to release an exclusive game for Wii U - in which case development costs and install base would be an issue - but rather porting already existing games.
Everything costs money. Dealing with technical issues with early hardware/software adds dev time and cost, porting and supporting another platform does too. As for Oblivion, did MS pay anything for that? (...that'd probably be the best way to convince a dev, pay to compensate for the extra costs.)
He doesn't give any valid reason, but (bad) excuses. He doesn't bring up any reason, other than vague technical issues, which - I suppose - could be valid, given how bad the PS3 version of Skyrim is. That's hardly a reasonable justification for ignoring a platform, given the tremendous possible implications this bet could have. It's almost insane to call it too risky to support Wii U early on, either with old ports or promises, when you look at the industry as a whole or Bethesda's business practice in particular, such as the Prey 2 debacle or WET. He's essentially saying that they're betting against the successor of the most successful console this gen, which has a head start (of maybe a year) with no backup plan.

You know what would've been a valid explanation ? We're too fucking incompetent to program for Wii U or PS3.
You know what would've been an honest excuse ? We don't give a shit about Wii U and if it succeeds we don't give a shit about the money.
You know when I believe this shit ? When they say that they're not supporting the 720/PS4 due to those reasons.

Edit:
I wish they were honest, instead of coming up with embarassingly stupid excuses. Just say that you expect Wii U to bomb. Either you're right, or you're wrong and we can laugh at you.
You're sort of devolving into crazy fanboy mode towards the end here. Anyway you say it right there, it's a bet, they're just betting differently from how you would bet. And the part I quoted wasn't about Wii U specifically, he just said "new consoles" and everything he said applies to all of them.

I'd just put a question mark next to everything but price and launch date. Don't let the hype train leave the station just yet, you'll have another two months for hype if the Nov 18 date is true.

So these games have a slim to no chance of coming to the WiiU. When PS4/720 release, I wonder what the WiiU landscape is going to look like in terms of games.

Pretty much the same as the Wii? Great first party games, exclusive third party games, and pretty much no major third party games like the list above?

After other publishers see Ubisoft swimming in cash even a couple of months after launch you'll see two things:

1) Executives from other publishers kicking themselves that they weren't intelligent enough to realise that a Nintendo console launching (either day one or during the launch window) with a 2D Mario, Pikmin 3, Wii U Fit, Just Dance 4, Sing, Lego City Undercover, ZombiU, Rayman Legends and Aliens Colonial Marines was going to sell a shitload to both hardcore and casual demographics

2) The same publishers scrabbling to support the platform

Some of the decision making by these people is unbelievably bad, although going by my personal experience in the industry it really isn't a surprise tbh. If the decisions were made by a panel of QA staff - you know, people that actuallyplay video games and know a good one (or idea) from a bad one - rather than suits that are completely out of touch with gaming in general then you'd have a much healthier industry.

A prime example is Ian Livingstone at Eidos. He headed (heads?) the Acquisitions Department at Eidos, he's earning a 7 figure salary, the other three idiots were/are earning 6 figure salaries. They decided to turn their noses up at Fallout 3 and Bioshock, and decided that Escape From Bug Island was a great idea. A few years after that my entire department (the QA Department, ironically the people that could have brought millions in revenue with a panel on the Acquisitions Department instead of those 4 twats) was made redundant along with 25% of the rest of the company employees. And yes, I Am still bitter lololol

How bout, blind circle jerking..with knives

Too many sensations at once to do it properly.

We could throw them at Spieler Eins. Seems like he wouldn't mind. Blindfold the guy and you're ready to go!

As long as he has teeth, I'm fine.

How about this?

Sure if you're five. Tis' just a baby's game.

It seems we have enough confirmation of 1.5 GB total in recent days to go with that safely for the time being.

No.

I have a question.

Is Pikmin 3 only playable with a wiimote+? At e3 it seemed like you could do that or use the tablet, but i've read some previews that made it seem like wiimote+ and nunchuk is the only way

I don't know about Pikmin 3 but Pikmin 1 and 2 Wii versions are certainly playable with vanilla Wiimote + nunchuck. I'd see no reason for Nintendo to make Pikmin 3 Wiimote+ only or GamePad.

It seemed like it relied on the Motion+ for the pointing though instead of the IR which would make it incompatible with the older Wii remote.

Do you guys think Nintendo will have a megaton for Wii U the 13th? I just can't imagine that they think they can get the 'core' gamers with just Zombi U. What are the chances of seeing Retro's game?

I'd say about a 30% chance and the only reason I put it that high is because they almost showed it off at E3 but pulled it because it wasn't quite ready. It should be ready to be shown off by now, but whether or not now is the right time is questionable.

chances exist, but it depends on nintendo... never say never but don´t say it will happen

Only possible megaton I see would come from Japan.

Nope I just hope the price is a 'nice surprise'. Also zombiu looks great.

This is Monolith Soft's Wii U game?

Would be awesome if that was a new Mother.

Not possible, I guess, but awesome.

I expect zero megatons of any description.

Look at the Wii September conference; it had release date, price, launch titles, new Wii Sports demoes and UI features. Expect that, with Nintendoland subbed in for Wii Sports. Everything else is a bonus.

I don't think so. They may announce additional titles for the West from the likes of Capcom, Konami, Square-Enix, etc. But no sneak peaks at a new Mario, Zelda, Retro project.

I have it on good authority that it's an alien swimming RPG. That, or a ren'ai set on a Navy ship during an alien invasion.

Yup. Expect nothing; get nothing; no disappointment. You would all be wise to subscribe to that mantra.

A brand new console and people are advising we keep our expectations in check. *Sigh*, gone are the days where we can actually treat ourselves to a little hype.

We knew about Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 Smash Bros and more all within the time frame we've had knowing about the Wii U. Pathetic.

We have to see RETRO'S new game, and I WILL expect it. Someone has to keep the faith.
