People anticipating this should hope it's a true exclusive, not timed, so they can implement gamepad features from the ground-up instead of tacked on ones.

I think it'll be a real exclusive. How often do AAA "published by Nintendo/MS/Sony" games go over to other consoles? It can't be that often at all.

The only game I can think of are Ninja Gaiden 2 and Samurai Warriors 3, which managed to go multiplat by getting renamed and modified enough to sidestep the exclusivity contract. It's worth pointing out, though, that they're both Tecmo Koei games so there's a common link there that doesn't apply to Bayonetta 2.

Wow, the metldowns in here. FUNDED BY NINTENDO PEOPLE - EXCLUSIVE OR NOTHING. This thing was CANCELLED before now! Diehard fans of the series should be happy it even exists!
Yeah, I don't get it. People just need shit to complain about. Between this, and the Carnival of Stupid that was the response to the Apple conference yesterday, it's just crazy people 24/7.

Love it. This is one of those games that will force some in the enthusiast market to ask themselves whether they play games, or hardware. Bravo Nintendo you cunning bastards. Lol.

I apologize for not blowing multiple loads and saying I'd trade Halo, MGS, God of War, Gran Turismo, Forza, Final Fantasy, Shenmue III, Grand Theft Auto 5, all just to play this game, accompanied by an angry animated gif. Great pick-up for the library, I hope we get more true exclusives so that the games can be created for the gamepad from the ground-up.

I have no idea what you are responding to, but you called Bayonetta and DMC4 button mashers. If they are button mashers then there are no action games in existence that aren't button mashers. It is quite obvious from your statement that you have no experience playing these games other than on the easiest difficulties, which begs the question as to why you would bother posting about them being button mashers at all.

Damn, aren't exclusives a good thing? Don't you guys want more great games that give you a reason to own each console? Nintendo trying to show they actually want to win those of us back who want something beyond games like Wii-Fit and Mario is great news for gaming on the whole. It baffles me how people who love gaming can hate on news like this, but oh well.

I am annoyed because I had no intentions to buy a WiiU >.>

My wallet aches in pain.

It's not like Bayonetta 2 is coming out on November 18th. Shit, it wasn't even announced for the launch window. Who the hell knows how far along this game is. People are throwing fits about not being able to afford the system for a game that doesn't even have a release date. Christ, if you really want to play a game I'm sure you can afford investing $250-350 in a system & game when the time comes.

I'm fucking broke as shit right now and I've been looking for a new job too. Just because a game I was looking forward to is coming out on a system that I can't afford at the moment doesn't mean I have to like the game/announcement/news less. Jesus Christ, this should be a joyous occasion for true, old school gamers. We're talking about BAYONETTA 2 here, like, it's a real game! Published by Nintendo! Do you have any idea what this could mean for future publishing partner/collaborations!?

Yes, exactly this, I will buy the WII U when this comes out and if that is around mid year 2013 better for me since I get to save some money to actually buy it.

I don't mean it'll be bad. Probably it's going to be fun.

But it wont bring any genius gameplay. 6.5/10

I am curious why Nintendo funded and is publishing this. They can't think that its going to be a huge seller.

I don't think Nintendo did this thinking it would win them millions of sales. This game will not be a huge seller.

However, they saw a game that was already into development and they could pick up and pay to finish up for a decent price and market as an exclusive, which looks good on paper at launch. Thankfully, that game happened to be the cancelled Bayonetta 2. :)

I'm not going to read this thread because I just know it's full of idiocy and pathetic moaning.

I just wanted to say I'm so happy Bayonetta 2 is actually happening. This is the best news ever.
Yup, Bayonetta 2 probably would've never happened if Nintendo didn't step in. I loved the original and I'm so pumped to just be getting a sequel.

I'm also kind of hoping Nintendo buys Platinum Games just so I can see the meltdowns.

Because it says to the public "we are willing to stick our neck out for hardcore gamers this time". Its more of a message than a moneymaking venture. but its an important step.
It also gains third party confidence that Nintendo wont leave them out to dry as much anymore. This is exactly the kind of thing Nintendo needed to do. Its a very intelligent business move. They have to repair a lot of damaged relations, but partnerships like this surely cannot hurt.

Monster Hunter Ultimate, The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, and NSMBU basically sealed the deal for me.

Take my $350 already, Nintendo. I hope there's a trade in program for a Wii > Wii U at GameStop.

I didn't call them button mashers. Maybe you should read that post again.

Having to buy an overpriced(debatable) system to play a game that you love is pretty much the definition of bittersweet for me. Honestly, it seems like there's way more hype than salt in this thread....so far....

Hahaha, I saw it on Nintendo Direct and I knew today's a funny day on GAF.

I'm glad I've seen so many GAF meltdowns related to Nintendo:

- The Smash Brothers Brawl announcement featuring Snake
- The Monster Hunter 3 exclusive
- The Dragon Quest IX exclusive
- The Dragon Quest X exclusive (less impactful than IX though, people expected it)

And now this. Makes me wonder if Sakurai was responsible for the networking:

Sakurai: Osu Bossu.
Iwata: *laughs*
Sakurai: Yesterday I went to Kamiya-san and his team was sooo sad that bayonetta 2 is cancelled. Would you publish it? It only costs a Zelda fairy.
Iwata: *laughs*

So you're not going to buy a system with the games you want... because?

Because of this:

Of course, because for most people here it wouldn't require a new hardware purchase.

I hate that it's exclusive for a platform I don't plan to buy, but I agree it probably wouldn't exist otherwise, sadly.

Not that hard a concept to grasp. That said, damn... looks like the WiiU has skyrocketed to a must-buy for me! :D
