Reading this whole thread again, I fully believe that if we had a one console future and it was run by Nintendo, had all the core games and top features, people will still avoid them.

It is like a forbidden fruit that I cannot eat, yet it is dangling right in front of me and its scent is making me hungry. Yes, I am glad that a sequel to a game that I liked is being made, but the annoyance of not being able to play it (or that it would be very inconvenient and possibly expensive) outweighs this and causes me frustration and anger.

Either all games are multiplatform, in which case I can buy one console and pick and choose what software I want, or the exclusives are nicely fit per console. Say Nintendo has their franchises, Microsoft's Xbox has all Western-developed blockbusters and shooters, and Sony's PlayStation has a lot of Japanese action games and RPGs. Hypothetically, I would then prefer to buy a PlayStation as it would cater to my tastes the closest. The point is that I like convenience and predictability. I do not mind a game from console A (that I own) also getting a port on console B (that I do not own), as long as I can get everything I want on the console that I own. Exclusive or multiplatform, I do not care, as long as I can get my one-stop-shop.

As an individual consumer pursuing a mostly adolescent hobby, I am far more concerned about getting the games I want to play on a short-term basis, than any potential mid-term or long-term repercussions.

What if there are more games for the Wii U in the future that you want to play? Would you be willing to buy one?

I can understand not buying one now, because it only has one game that you really want. But it can't really hurt to sit back, keep an eye out for other things you want, and jump on it then, aye?

It's what I'm doing with the PSVita right now.

I love this man. Appropriately, looking more and more like a modern Miyamoto every day. Look how happy he is!

Or, you can cut the melodrama and, like, buy a Wii U. It's going to have some great games.

Going with some of Opiate's remarks, one further thought:

With PS4 and 720 still unknowns, unrevealed, and a year or more away, I would think more people would be mindful of what happened last generation. It was a given that Playstation 2 would roll right on in to Playstation 3 and the gaming world would barely hiccup at the turnover.

That didn't work out quite as expected.

Based on lessons learned, it would seem the prudent thing would be to not assume 'destiny' is written out and that one will be rolling right in to the next Playstation or Xbox on launch day, or as one's only console. These things cannot be taken for granted.

Even if Bayonetta 2 ends up the only game I own and play on the Wii U (doubtful but not impossible), I'll be perfectly happy.

And Bayonetta 2 won't be out until some time in 2013, maybe even 2014. So everyone who is upset about having to buy a Wii U to play it still has a year or more to see what other games will be released on the system.

This is, of course, irrational. People believe lots of irrational things (and you're playing devil's advocate anyway), I'm just saying that it doesn't make for a very reasonable argument.
True, but emotions like anger and happiness are often not very rational. Especially on an internet message board where it is very easy to vent your anger in public, without really stopping and thinking about it.

Well, nothing is more convenient than and simple than a market with clear, delineated monopolies, which is again largely what you are advocating.
It is convenient, dangerously so. I'm a big fan of PC gaming and Steam, and have often found myself wishing for more games to appear on Steam. Yet at the same time, and recently increasingly so, I've become aware that focusing on just one digital distribution platform is actually not all that great, especially for developers. Something like Greenlight is opening it up and improving the situation, but it is a situation that shouldn't have existed in the first place. Indie games not on Steam have incredible difficulties with getting exposure and the growing popularity of Steam is making this situation only worse for them.

Doubt it. The name is pretty silly, you know.

This situation reminds me of Fatal Frame. Would be nice if this Bayonetta deal will follow Fatal Frames lead (more Bayonetta games).

Being upset the option is there rather than not at all does not seem rational, but surely though you can understand a small element of bittersweetness to this news if you weren't prepared to shell out the extra cash if nothing else in the foreseeable future on the system is appealing. Early on there was a lot of mocking of even the sentiment of "aw man, looks like I need to buy a Wii U. Wasn't expecting to do that just yet."

Oh absolutely, I'm not suggesting I don't understand it, just that it doesn't make for a very good argument.

It's sort of like saying that I understand why people get angry when you find out your ex girlfriend is dating a new man. It is a natural, human impulse, and I absolutely see where the feeling comes from. But that doesn't make a good argument for it -- it just says that the feeling exists, whether it's irrational or not.

So if someone said, "My ex is dating a new guy. I know it's silly and unreasonable, but I'm angry about it," I'd understand. We're all human, and these sorts of emotional impulses hit us on occasion.

However, if someone tried to make a real argument that they deserve to be upset because their ex girlfriend is behaving unfairly and how-could-she-possibly-dare-to-find-a-new-person, I would call them silly and unreasonable.

People need to expand their horizons a little. The sole reason I bought a PS3 this generation was for MGS4 and even though I got burnt on that a bit, it allowed me to play games I wouldn't have been to able to play otherwise like Little Big Planet and Valkyria Chronicles. I spent 500 dollars on that god damned system too. 300 is not too much to pay for a new system and by the time Bayonetta 2 rolls around there will most likely be a price cut or retailer deals to soften the blow a bit. Comparing B2 releasing on the Wii U to a niche RPG releasing on mobile phones in Japan is a fucking absurdly wrong comparison.

I'm sick of the whining talk, can we actually start discussing features we'd like to see and things that we hope make it into the game? Or how they might evolve witch time, dodge offset, or combat??Or what new crazy weapons they might introduce or combinations thereof??? Anything but complaining please. I hear my children cry all day and fight, can we talk like adults about the actual game instead, of pout about it not being on our desired platform????

Thanks.

Okay can you tell us what this is relevant to the thread or how your post contributes to the discussion of Bayonetta 2 on NeoGAF? Thanks.

Perhaps it was not necessary, but I saw other people posting meltdowns, so I thought "Why not?"

If it's a problem, I'll remove it.

I hope the game only has two difficulty levels, equivalent to Hard and NSIC in the first game. Or at least makes hard a selectable choice out of the gate.

I'm not a mod, but bringing in outside stuff from posters that really has nothing to do with the thread is probably not a good idea.

Yup. Fair enough. I actually agree. On the other hand, in that example lumping said person in with those ranting about how they're gonna go after this new guy is a bit remiss though. There's was a fair amount of that sort of thing here.

I just don't think that continuing to draw attention to and to give a platform for such opinions on this forum is beneficial to proper discussion. If people are out of line here, the mods will take care of it. Beyond that we don't really need to continue repeating the same shit over and over especially when it's off-forum.

Understood. I'll edit it out. :p

You know what I do when a system I did not intend to buy gets software I would like to buy?

I buy that system to play the software I would like.

Lies! It cannot be that easy! One needs to relinquish themselves of all other means of digital entertainment first as the new system would invalidate everything else I possess.

But for real, I can't understand why this is such a hard concept to grasp.

The dude that's saying the twitter stuff was exposed in a NPD thread when he was talking about how handhelds would die because of iOS or something. People went to his twitter and saw a post like "I trolled those Neogaf assholes", he also had a lot of racist and angry posts over videogame stuff.

I don't really know why he was brought up in here, but the above is how he got banned.

Maybe we'll be seeing Bayonetta open up into an Lumen Sage based move set (since her father is a Sage, she should have the ability to use their skills too). The blue and silver added to the color scheme, along with the silver angel heels, makes me think that she'll be jumping into more of that angelic side of herself (lol).

omg could you imagine if we could switch between witch and sage move sets on the fly

omg

i would cry

Trying to switch the focus a bit, since saw this in another thread.

Does partnering with Nintendo for this game give it better, worse or the same amount of chance to succeed?

Love reading the comments in this thread.

I think this game becoming multi-platform would be convenient for everyone, but let's not forget that Nintendo is launching a new system here. They need games exclusive to the console so that people will have a reason to buy it. If they just released games that can be found on other consoles, then what would be the point of buying a Wii U? I think part of the problem is that some people are comparing Wii U to the Xbox/PS3 too much, but I don't blame them. Nintendo needs to make more convincing reasons that their console is not another PS3/360.

And some people don't seem to get that Bayonetta 2 would not exist if it weren't for Nintendo. If they haven't picked up the game's development, it will NEVER come out on ANY console. You guys should really be grateful that this game is being made at all.

Personally, I don't care about Bayonetta at all. Something about her character rubs me the wrong way. If the game turns out good though, then I may give it a shot. We'll see. I was seriously surprised that Nintendo even bothered to publish this.
