Back from the game. My first international game and i loved it. For a second I thought about recording the free kick goal on my phone but changed my mind. Bummer because my seat was sort of behind the goal.

This is probably the best article I've ever read about US Soccer. Seriously, read it.

http://whatahowler.tumblr.com/post/31313126129/what-is-american-soccer

For Howler’s debut issue, Matthew Doyle (MLSsoccer.com’s Armchair Analyst) watched more than 50 hours of USMNT tape (going all the way back to Italia ‘90) to discern what—if anything—characterizes the American style of play. With tomorrow night’s WCQ against Jamaica looming, we thought we’d share it early, especially because his analysis has a lot to say about what went wrong in Friday’s loss to Jamaica.

I was watching Conan last night and during his monologue he mentioned the team's 1-0 win vs Jamaica.

EXCEPT he said "the USA qualified for the 2014 World Cup with a win against Jamaica last night!"

no one corrected him!

It's not a huge deal but who would have guessed we would have a #1 NFL draft pick whose favorite sports hero is a US soccer player...

ANSWER: @nflcolts QB Andrew Luck’s favorite sports hero is Clint Dempsey! Get MORE exclusives in Everything2Prove: bit.ly/ShEXSa

Andrew Luck Q & A: He Excels at Ping Pong, He’s a Clint Dempsey Fan & the Most Famous Person in His Cell Phone is …
Anyway, part of your upbringing was over in Europe, and I’ve had some of our readers ask, were you a fan of European Soccer, and have you followed the MLS since your dad worked with the Houston Dynamo?

Andrew Luck: Yes, I was a fan of soccer, and I do follow soccer still. My favorite app on the iPad is the MLS app. It’s got a great layout of everything and the Dynamo are my favorite team. I try to follow all the American guys who are playing overseas like Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Tim Howard, all those guys.

Q: So you kept up with Clint Dempsey’s drama in moving over to Tottenham?

Andrew Luck: And I’m glad he finally landed somewhere, hopefully playing again.

And of course RG3
