Halo 4 - Valhalla reborn as Ragnarok

The mech looks so boss, hope it's not too much boss compared to other vehicles XD

And the water looks great! Except for when the mech walks over it, the water interaction effects seems completely gone :(
 
That new Dominion gametype with the mechs, that would be just amazing.

If they have a Dominion playlist, ill be playing that shit 24/7

You're nuts. When I walk through water, I want a 3 feet high wave that propagates 7 feet. When I shoot bullets, I want a giant splash. Armour needs to be buoyant instead of acting like a suit that's a metric ton with low surface area.

Then again, I also want to move as fast through water as I can in air.

The new Halo on the horizon makes me sad I never really did much playing on my Reach forge creations... I've got some I'm pretty proud of. Hope the forge mode in H4 is just as fun.

The whole forge is a great idea, but its just poorly implemented. If you could create a custom server and have random people join, it would be perfect. But this is Halo so matchmaking only allowed!!

yeah i love mm and all but custom game browsing like halo ce pc would be awesome.

The fact that they've barely talked about Forge to me means that they've probably made little to no changes to it whatsoever. Im expecting most of the same problems Reach had with Forge.

We are getting Forge info soon. Also remember its not 343 that is doing Forge for Halo 4, it is Certain Affinity and they showed us a lot of it at RTX

Well, Halo did die, but then Uncharted found the suit and now he teamed up with Skyrim to fight Vanquish.

That's what Halo 4 is about.

That actually sounds a lot more interesting than what Halo 4 will actually be. :(

I will definitely play this, but my expectations have remained a little above tempered.

BTW, Blood Gulch or nothing for multiplayer. I am aware of some of the small problems with the map, but it is sooooo good still.

I think Blood Gulch has been remade enough. It wasn't good in Reach. Poorly balanced.

I'd go for some more BTB remakes though. Sidewinder, Waterworks, etc.

It's weird reading the observations of people who haven't played Halo in a long time, they're easy to spot.

Bring back Coagulation? People must love spawn killing.

Spartan laser overpowered? Balances dominant vehicular map control.

Mechs don't belong in Halo? Master Chief

Valhalla is a classic example of a two base relieved symmetry map. The flow of battle is always pushed towards the center which is the known location of the weapon of control, the spartan laser. Once in control of the middle the centric flow is continued as teams can attempt flanking, sniping, or be risky and attempt to down the laser and attempt a vehicle rush. Caves and narrow canyons encrust the sides as deturant to those in control of the top. The mantis (mech) should help increase the frequency in which the middle is contested causing an increase in the pace of battle. When. Being held hostage at spawn by the enemy team, sub bases and big base help spreading the heard, no killing fields like in Coagulation.

In all honesty Valhalla isn't my personal favorite big team map, lightly touches a picture of Terminal, but it sure as hell makes BTB 2 Flag a blast to play.

Have you seen the demonstration given at pax looked really good with the player zones where you can adjust gravity,walking speed,Jump height etc.

From what they have shown so far, quite a few improvements if you are into your forging.

For everyone else, the ability that the engine has to render static lighting on objects will immediately help to alleviate the silver lego brick look of most forge maps.

They've also introduced magnets onto objects so you can snap objects together easily for speedier building.

They've also introduced zonal player traits, so you can make a particular area low gravity for example.

They showed an example of a man cannon which would of normally killed the player as they landed, but they made the landing area so that there was no fall damage within it. Using the new player trait zones.

Blood Gulch and Coagulation are poop from a butt, especially with hitscan weapons and good netcode. I don't ever want to see them back again.

Is there a Forge in this game? If so curious to see the cost of a Mech and what people do with them with custom game modes.

Forge is in but they have been pretty quite about it. Only a few videos appeared. Would be nie to get a fancy Vidoc on it before launch, or at least throw a frikken bone to the ForgeGAF community. :p

Sure it kinda broke the game, but armor locking oncoming vehicles was like the most fun ever.

Could have maybe balanced it by having energy weapons go through the shield or something IDK. If I played more of Reach I probably would have hated it just as much as the rest of you.

It's kinda funny they've even programmed in a crouch animation. It must of been specifically for teabagging purposes.

I dunno, m0nkey showed me a new Forge video where they had item snapping, quick copy+paste, dynamic object lighting/baking, adjustable player zones where you can selectively change player power, gravity, etc within the field, and so on.

I want more info but so far it's looking really good.

Still no environment creation from scratch though? Have they announced all the Forge environments yet?

Elephant in the room for many, many years now. Just give us a truly blank canvas to work on with a choice of skyboxes and environmental items. Doesn't seem difficult to me considering how far they've taken Forge already. I feel like Forge should've made that transition to a full on map editor by now.

Also I hope coloration of items and the variety of items is better this time around. Poor colorization options limit creativity heavily.

Ya theyve tweeked it for sure, but still, the problem will still be that most users will never know about those maps unless 343 themselves put them in a playlist.

Yeah, so far thy've only shown a Forerunner environment that's maybe a quarter to a third the size of Forge World, and a Grifball court that's supposed to be set in a human forge environment. No word on the third yet but it'd presumably be Covenant themed.

Hopefully new hardware will allow Halo 5's forge to finally befcome a map creator rather than just an object editor. I'm tired of map possibilities being predetermined by the shape of the terrain we're given
