A-tier trolling on the very first episode back. Amazing. Can't believe they edited the OP and ED BEFORE we even got to see how they normally look.

Also, Blue Exorcist reference!

This is going to be a good season.

Hiyokoi OVA

That was cute. And sweet. Very nicely done.

Basically a short and very shy girl returns back to class after being in the hospital and learns how to overcome her shyness and possibly discover love.

It's your average shojo but it doesn't drag out the drama, the whole "problem" gets resolved pretty quickly but that's probably due to being an OVA. But it works and leaves me with a smile in my heart.

Also, I think the class is basically a class full of cajunators as they all can't help but find the title girl adorable and cute. Not to mention this is a class that runs out to play in the snow in the middle of class.

You win firehawk, this was a very nice show. I now wish there is more of this. And, fine! I'll probably put Amagami in my backlog!

Wow and here I thought those color filters for K were only for the PV's and not the entire show.

That's a... strange decision.

You know what's sad is those shots would probably look pretty nice minus the filters.

There's this pretty decently animated skateboarding scene later in the episode, where not only did they apply the same filters on it, but it had a moving tracking digital camera with a distorted fisheye lens of sorts warping the entire background as it tracked the character skateboarding, and then randomly during the sequence they would edit in a sudden noise distortion filter which turns the entire scene brown/static for 0.3 seconds, and they did that like 3 times while he was skateboarding.

They probably think it was cool or something. It just gave me a headache.

No. The primary studio being used is Studio Kanon, who worked with Brains Base on Hotarubi no Mori e and Natsume S3, with contributions by Studio Forest, who most recently worked with Kanon and the same art director on Uta Koi.

If you want to see what Studio Pablo is working on, they actually have a schedule up on their website. Assuming each column corresponds to a particular team there, the team working on Sengoku Collection has transitioned to preparing for a 1-cour show in the spring, the team working on Saint Seiya Omega will, after the show ends in March, begin preparing for a 1-cour show in the summer, and a third team that's been working on a game will begin working on a 5 minute show starting January.
Oh, shoot! Now I see you already replied to Branduil's post, and said it all better yet. Sorry!

You mean you don't like stuff like this?! Seriously, the ENTIRE show looks like this! Isn't it AWESOME?!?!?!
Maybe some "hacker" can remove those filters later, BF3 style!

Ha, all the Chuuni summaries are so vague...looks like I'm checking that out too out of curiosity.

Did JoJo air in Japan yet?

That sounds rather unwatchable. Guess I'll avoid.

Well the general story of this episode seems awfully similar to the last one. Guy messes up and has to apologise and then they finish with a kiss.

Meanwhile I'm questioning Japan's employment laws because "best" girl seems to be working at a late night bar while in secondary school. And not only that, she is wearing a very skimpy outfit. Oh Japan indeed.

That free market entrepreneur mindset! Sekai is indeed the best girl.

For reference, this first scene that ponpo posted is the one you are referring to here, right?

Too much green. Not enough blue.

Yeah. The green needs to be more subdued and appeared on the edges of just one side of the screen. Then the opposite side has to be BLASTED with deep blue, with a gradient of blue forming across the screen.

This first image that ponpo posted is the one you are referring to, right?

Nope. That's the second skateboarding scene in the episode. The first one was much worse.

Best Student Council - 26 [END]

Oh my god was this unbearable. And whoever marked this as yuri needs to be punched in the throat! The main character (Rando Rino) was annoying as hell and had no development to her character at all, the side characters were just as boring if not more so, and the story (a laughable one at that) tried so hard to establish connections with so many characters and their relationships that when they tried to piece everything together it turned into a clusterfuck of a mess. They made such an effort to hype up this "power" that
Kanade and Rino possess, only for it be some D-Tier telepathy
. Seriously? A major conglomerate is going batshit crazy over this?

Best Student Council is something we should be recommending juniors for their initiation, nothing else.

Uta Kata was next on my list, but due to someone's "persuasive" methods *cough* Envelope *cough* I'll be watching this instead:

I heard this was terrible, but maybe the guarantee of yuri will save me.

Halcyon Realms – Animation.Film.Photography and Art Book Reviews » » The Borrowers + Yohei Taneda Exhibition Book Review
http://cdn.halcyonrealms.com/japan/the-borrowers-yohei-taneda-exhibition-book-review/

What a good coincidence that Vong Yonghow (blaureiter) found casually and reviewed recently that book presented above while this next week will be ending one of the last opportunities to see live such pieces of Yohei Taneda's works it features (http://pier-2.khcc.gov.tw/e_content/event/event01in.aspx?sid=9). Watching photographs of the guide/catalog is cool, but that 'little world' to explore is one of the things you must see in person to fully appreciate. To those fortunate Taiwanese people that can see it right now, know this... I have no envy at all... you hear me? At all...

That Blasty Tempest - Episode the Primary

As is probably to be expected from the staff, the show featured a nicely animated and staged fight scene. The content was more interesting than I expected it to be as well.

It's just a shame about the sound mix, then. Unless they simply handed Crunchy duff materials, for half the show the effects and music seemed to be mixed higher than the dialogue, to the point where I'd have to wonder if those watching the show without the benefit of subtitles would be able to even make out what was being said over the sound of cicadas or the lavishly orchestrated music. As it is, I just ended up with a bit of a headache.

I suppose I can at least be thankful that it didn't have the eye-melting animation of K as well, otherwise I may well be comatose by now.

Zetsuen no Tempest - Episode 1

I have really high expectations for Ando's return to BONES, and it definitely doesn't disappoint here. His sense of direction combined with BONES' animation team provides a really stellar experience here. There's solid pacing, great use of transitions, excellent layout work, and a surprising amount of art detail for a TV series. The music is outstanding too, and the voice cast really pulls it off.

The only problem I have here is a personal one. I wish I didn't read the manga. The adaptation is faithful, but done with a lot of care and quality. But my feelings about where the source material eventually goes (which happens pretty quickly) is tempering my excitement for the rest of the series. Maybe that's a good thing, because if Ando does overcome the issues with the manga, then it will be all the more impressive for me.

This source material doesn't really deserve such a lavish adaptation, but since it's here, I guess it's a good thing that we all might have a good time with it... while it lasts. :)

K - Episode 1

Okay, that was fucking horrible. This is the ugliest digital anime production I have ever watched.[...]
This comment raises a number of question in my mind:

1. Is duckroll simply exaggerating?

2. Has duckroll not seen as many ugly digital anime productions I have?

3. Could the show really look that bad?

It's funny how people hate on the blue and yellow filters, but liked the excessive purple of SSY...

They're all ugly to me
