Halo |OT10| The Calm Before The Storm

Did they reveal whether or not we have the ability stack support upgrades & tactical packages in custom games? It'd be pretty cool just running around with all of them on.

That would be cool but almost nothing really has been confirmed about customization.

Hopefully it is part of the base player traits that we can modify.

On a serious note, I can't remember an actual completely negative feedback on Cragmire, although I'm (also on a serious note) aware of it's faults.

The map I got the most shit, death / hacking threats etc over was Uncongealed.
If it wasn't heavies, I don't think I would have nearly as many issues with Cragmire as I do. And Uncongealed wasn't bad, it was just because people couldn't camp anymore. Scrubs like easy kills, because they can't get them any other way.

Why would you have Promethean vision on in a mode with no motion tracker, unless it was something you chose? It's not going to happen by accident, players will make choices. A mode with no motion tracker would likely be MLG style, or some Flood variant. Players would be bound by those rules. You use your custom loadouts in modes that permit those custom loadouts.

Can we limit custom loadouts in custom games like MW3 does? Where you start by saying x perk can't be used, you can't choose from y weapon category, etc.

Yeah people took their exploits seriously. But I even started reply with "the broken, exploitable version of the map is still in matchmaking. so just vote for it if you want it"

Also, nobody's figured out the map yet. I made that one hard to google :p

Microsoft updates it's Game Content Usage Rules - You can NO LONGER legally monetize Halo footage on YouTube.

Wait, really? I guess I didn't know you could do this before to begin with, but does this only apply to youtube? Like how would it effect things like RvB?

Basically it could potentially hurt us (HaloCouncil), we use youtube money to support keeping our website up. I'm not saying we'll go down but the new rules could put a damper on our community itself and MANY others. We may be in the clear since we are with Machinima.

Do these new usage rules mean that THC, Bravo, NakedEli, Ninja etc. who are making money from videos/streaming are screwed? Wouldn't these new rules make it so tournament organizers couldn't stream their content?

Dax is now the Drunk Abusive Father of HaloGAF
And I am sharing rooms with him tomorrow. Thanks Dax for showing your true colors now!

Does Ninja not earn money through Twitch.tv and not Youtube?

Microsoft definitely updated it's content usage agreement in preparation for the "upload to YouTube" feature for saved films in Halo 4 via Halo Waypoint.

I'm sorry to hear that

Ouch. Hm. Does the rule only apply if the point of the video is to make money? Or is it a 'no if ands or buts' type of thing?

So from what Robbert and Over have said, it sounds like the carbine was nerfed to oblivion, again. Why couldn't they just leave it alone after the E3 build?

I just watched one of Bravo's Halo 4 videos of Hysteria using the carbine. I was just about to say the carbine looked nerfed to hell. It seems so weak now.

They have played on Longbow. Longbow is big, and the Carbine is kinda useless on long-distance. I am going to try it out this weekend. But I do think it is useable weapon. At least it was in campaign.

Eep - when did this happen? (There are no dates on the usage rules page; seems hard to figure out when pieces are changed...)

According to that page, NOBODY is allowed to promote a commercial venture without a commercial license - and "so far, we haven't given anyone permission to do this" - doesn't this hose Machinima, too?

Sounds like it.

At this rate let's hope our sites aren't next on the chopping block for ideas to crush creativity and community creation.

Wondering that as well. When was it officially changed and what are the ramifications of this change? Is this going to be enforced? Are they going to send take down orders to everyone or just the "big offenders" ... And on top of that this all seems so counterproductive. In the real world they should encourage the sharing of videos, the hype that comes from them, and the free marketing they're getting from all the dedicated fans.

Here's the quote from their new Usage Rules - http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/developer/rules

You may post your Item to a page or website that has advertising, but only if you do not earn any money from that advertising. For example, if you post your video on Youtube or Vimeo and there happens to be an advertisement next to it, then as long as you don't get paid for that advertisement, the fact that there is an advertisement on the page doesn't break these Rules. But enrolling in the Youtube partner program (or other similar programs), where you are entering into an agreement to get paid, is not allowed. On a similar note, if you create and distribute a free app, then you can't earn any money from advertising in that app.

You may use the Item on a page where you ask for optional donation requests.

So people can voluntarily GIVE you money for your creation (donation or purchase of DVD?), but you can't use advertisement to generate revenue? That seems backwards.
