Re: Halo 4 Terminal... since when did the Sangheili language sound Japanese?

You rock. ;)
I try, I try.
lol

I'm not bothered though, I don't know the context of the terminal vid

Haha, I did that on purpose at first but then figured someone would actually complain. At this point I think anyone who doesn't want spoilers should have already bailed. Then again, I don't understand why people complain about officially released material "spoiling" things. Oh yeah, and watch the video it doesn't spoil the story and it is only a minute long.

Nah, right after those watchers that he was battling was a small skirmish
between Elites on ghosts and a Knight who knocks one of them off, killing him.
When Josh Holmes did they playthrough he got there in time, it was pretty cool. It was in line with the moments in Halo 3 where brutes were killing marines in a small scripted way.

ahhh

Did they ever say something different as "wort wort wort" in the past Halos? In Halo: Legends, the Elite cultures were shown with a huge resemblance of the Japanese samurai culture. Maybe they stay to that.

in halo 2 and 3 they always spoke english :(

Why do Elites suddenly start speaking English from Halo 2 onwards? I know the video game reason is "so they can communicate with humans in the storytelling and it's easier", but did they all start taking English classes or something?

I don't delve into much of the out of game Halo fiction but I did watch all of Halo: Legends, and The Duel was one of the hardest things I've had to watch in about a decade. Looking it up right now and Production I.G. made that?! For shame.

Wheres homeboy,
SPACE TURF, are you ready?

its honestly so fucking cool, I might build exclusively on it, holy shit yes

The Domain Terminal video is no real spoiler for Halo 4. It more spoils one plot line of Thursday War.

That terminal is interesting considering who makes an appearance. Because, at this point in The Thursday War,
Jul's locked up on Trevelyan.

It's a cool terminal, but it does raise one question: If Jul wants no human near Requiem, why not just destroy the human ship? Why board it? Or is that later revealed in TTW?
Nothing of that happens in Thursday War. You got spoiled.

About your question why not to destroy the Forward Unto Dawn:
Jul attempted to open Requiem for three years. He knows from his journey on Trevelyan and with his talks to Prone that there is a special connection between the Humans and the Forerunners. He definitely is boarding the wrack to use it.

Translation Devices. ( I have no idea)

In Halo 2 we needed to understand them for plot.

I don't have silverlight on my work computer so I can't see what that terminal link was. What was it, or is there a different link to see it?

That's how I kinda felt when it first aired before Legends released, but once I watched it again it became my favorite one! The art style is what threw me off at first.

Yeah; the only Halo: Legends shorts that I really liked were Origins and that over the top comedy one.

SPACE TURF

I want to see space foundation and space warlock as well.

I don't check that page on a regular basis - I looked today, because CyReN mentioned it. As I said, there is no changelog attached to those rules, so there's no easy way to tell how old the rules can be... but the legalese certainly SEEMS pretty clear about what's allowed and what's not. And having you say "it's just legalese" doesn't change the fact that the rules say "X is not allowed, period." (The legalese on my credit card statement is dense - but it doesn't tell me something is not permitted if it actually is.)

Indeed, it's a very significant change to the terms.

(It's actually highly questionable that updating them in this fashion is even legal in the UK).

You haven't seen the newer stuff by Production I.G.? The Duel is one of the better works, they did in the recent years.

-So what takes priority in Custom Trait Zones: the map's custom trait zone settings or custom game settings?

-How do custom trait zones interact with each other? Let's say I have one that gives 0% damage modifier inside of one that gives me 300% damage.

-Gravity Zones inside of Player Trait Zones, which one gets priority?

-Reverse gravity, so basically a lift with constant velocity or constant acceleration?

-Are all physics objects affected in the gravity zones? Say like a fusion coil or a thrown grenade?

-Are objects still saved with a simplified vector(like in 3 and Reach when stuff would get janky)?

-Are objects more uniform than Reach(like Overdoziz's post a while back)?

-Can we control when ordnance drops occur?

-How customizable are ordnance drops to the map creator?

-Do magnets fix the issue of having a slight bump when two objects were lined up perfectly through the coordinate system?

There's a lot of stuff I'm hoping for in terms of Forge, mainly true custom colors. There's a lot of small details that I could control through glitches in Halo 3, that were taken away through the streamlining of Reach. I'd love for these abilities to be brought back.

The terminal looks awesome. Demoncarnotaur, the fact that
Mdama/
shows up is one of the spoilers I hinted at last night, haha. I'm pretty excited about that development. Makes me a lot more interested in finishing up Glasslands and reading The Thursday War.

In other news: Forge looks poop. Kyle is right -- we need object color customization at the very least. Havok's idea of colored lighting would be a good option, too.

Adrift looks sick.
Yeah it does. I don't think most of HaloGAF even realized the map is symmetrical until the IGN walk through leaked last week. I know I didn't. It's one of the maps I'm most excited about now... But that could probably be said for most of the maps, hah.

All of it bothers me. The art style, the female sanghelli, the fucking kimonos. AWFUL

I liked OddOne Out as well, I mean come on Spartan 1337 is pretty fucking stupid, but I can dig it. Though the ones that stick out for me are Babysitter and Prototype. Really enjoyed the both of them.

Yeah that was the one I was talking about.

Mechs on space.

Edit: can't wait to remake HaloGAF's old favorite... Orbital.
First thing I thought of.

Actually,yes

From Halo Wars said:
Edict of the Office of the High Prophet of Tolerance

Unlock Condition: Collect Black Box in Mission 11.

Hear now that 500 teams are to be formed to study the language of the Unclean. Each team to consist of the most clever and most educated Unggoy and Sangheili. These teams to speak only the Unclean language among themselves. The Unclean language to be taught to all military strike teams, that the foe shall be vulnerable.

Is that terminal teaser going to spoil anything from The Thursday War for me? Or is it safe to watch before reading the book?

Also - I LOVE the look of that space map - I hope each forge map has a variant which is a base map in matchmaking. I dont want any further community maps in general matchmaking, but each forge base variant has to come up at least once. :p

Well guys, Roswell was fun for the morning. Unfortunately, no IRL ODST action. Drive back was lovely though.

I seriously can't believe there was enough wind to delay. We could feel nothing on the ground. Apparently the International Balloon Fiesta is still going strong if you guys are in the area and craving balloons carrying people up really high.

Anyway, just getting to the office, what's this about forge videos I can't watch? :/

It spoils the ending of the most interesting plot line in my opinion. I'd read TTW first and then watch the Terminal preview.

So how about the 3rd forge map at 0:44 and 1:23. Looks caveish or sumthing and brown...

not like the others

I'd imagine they'd reduce the need for those grav lifts that you see on The Pit and other MLG maps. Less rendering in that regard I believe so performance wise it sounds like an improvement.
That's a good possibility, but it still seems like a small feature that didn't need to shine in our first real look at what can be done with forge. Hopefully it's just so crammed with useful tidbits like the trait zone that most everyone who enjoys making maps will be happy.

Sweeet! Quality seems like a decent step up from Anniversary.

I wonder if the Spartan Ops episodes are made in this same style.

No, Spartan Ops eps are conventional high quality CG - aesthetics are like in-game cinematics but all plus plus - something like Halo Wars, more or less. You will see for yourself if you're at ComicCon on Saturday....

who that guy is, and why he's there?

Thanks for the head up man, much appreciated!

Looking at the forge video - I can see the "generating lighting" option getting annoying really fast when you simply want to quick jump into Spartan mode to very quickly try something. There needs to be an option to be able to run around as a Spartan but remain in Forge lighting mode to avoid the lighting loading delay.

It's funny: Tons of people have played the two Spartan Ops mission and I haven't read any stuff about the transmission during the gameplay... They looked pretty cool.

Just had 2 players successfully jetpack off Enclosed right off the start of the match. First time I've seen a team pull it off without hitting a kill zone or getting ripped to shreds. Can't believe this was never patched. Would have been such an easy fix.

Watched the Adrift and Forge videos today. Very impressed again. Short of 343 saying "f it, we're not doing 2v2" I'm pretty confident my one big worry will be crossed off (eventually). Adrift doesn't seem like it'd play any bigger than someone on the scale of Countdown/Powerhouse, and the possibilities for quality Forge maps seems substantially larger.
