I follow things pretty closely and I don't recall this being announced. I take it this is from hands on experience or some other confirmed source?

Not to toot my own horn or anything but I'd consider myself one of the best bomb carriers around and now I'm not even going to get to play that gametype at all?

I will get to play countless KOTH, crazy king, oddball and all that other junk though? I am disappointed to say the least.

I don't usually complain but this just signifies a serious community/developer issue. Who the fuck doesn't like assault? /rant.

Halo 2 I used "Race". That got taken out for Halo 3, so I was forced to switch to the lightning shield. Then when Bungie had the Reach emblem contest, I submitted "Atomic". When I got home from the store, I popped Reach in and went scrolling for my submission. As soon as I saw it, I screamed like a little girl and went with Atomic/Hexagon. I will be pretty disappointed if I have to progress for something as trivial as an emblem.

I don't mean to derail this thread with so many posts but...

Just no, if 343 have removed this I'm really in shell shock. As a hardcore objective guy I've been through the rise of MLG, the rise of Oddball, the decline of objective popularity, the rise of cheating, the rise of objective holding, the removal of ranked objective and Reach's objective clusterfuck all while the community declined to even want to play objective games.

WTF I don't know if I'll be that interested in multiplayer for years as I have been for all other Halo games.

Hate to overreact but for a flag/bomb loving, play most days, hardcore, no stats-padding, never quit and always try type of objective player I'm about to lose it.

CTF change I'm willing, removal of bomb is just crossing the line man, Stinkles I'm calling you out on this one mate. Please explain?

If Assault was in Halo 4, there would be a giant navpoint over your head saying "KILL THIS PERSON WALKING TOWARDS YOUR BASE"

Trying to think of ways you could "arm" a flag for Assault- wonder if it's possible to merge concepts from Dominion and CTF/Ball in custom games. I'm guessing no, but obviously not certain.

They undoubtedly thought it was too close to CTF and was irrelevant. Not saying I agree with that, but there it is.
Also, Frankie is the wrong person to call out on this. He is the Franchise Development Director, meaning he is the custodian of the Halo story bible and deals with the story in general. He doesn't have any control over multiplayer.

I wouldn't worry. The game has a super conservative agenda.

-It's Chief and Cortana, Not Chief and Cortano.
-Coming out on election day to prevent those dumb liberal kids from voting
-Can't just get handout grenades from dead bodies, gotta earn em.
-Can't just get handout power weapons off spawn, gotta earn em.
-The game makes it easier for higher leveled, higher skilled players to dong more by giving them more stuff. The skill then trickles down.

So much of this stuff could have been addressed with a beta. I know time and resources was the excuse but they had a 200 person team and still outsourced forge to CA? Not a lot is making sense.

I hate the no picking up grenades and not being able to drop the flag. If they had a beta all of this would have come back in the feedback to change. That why you do it, so when it launches its as perfect as can be,

Starting to think they were afraid of fan backlash would affect sales...

Well, the Halo 1 Assault variant was just CTF in reverse.

You could also heavily modify Grifball in to Assault. Let everyone spawn with their standard loadouts and slow the bomb carrier down to compensate for the ability to lob that shit to teammates.

So is there any skill based ranking or matchmaking at all? I watched the vidoc (do they still call them that?) and it looked like a big commercial to me with all the same shit.

Supposedly skill base matchmaking. How would you know? IDK. you have to trust that it is there. As of right now there is no ranking.

Hey guys, remember when they said that the discs are pretty much jam packed with content and probably have no extra space at all?

Maybe Assault isn't on disc but that doesn't mean it can't be downloaded via playlists. Anniversary Slayer anyone?
