Boycotting the thread until the title is changed and the Wall of Shame is reduced to its usual size.

All those 90 post seasons I worked so hard to maintain will be meaningless otherwise.

I don't think you can boycott a thread while also posting in it.

Ah yeah, so this is what I was waiting for... or I guess more exactly, this is the set up to the the awesomeness that will hopefully be the next episode.

First, I guess I should get this out of the way:
cWDQpl.jpg

Kobayashi = best mom, etc etc.

Anyhow, this episode focuses on Aiko, who
essentially has body image issues related to weight. Now, that in itself isn't really all that interesting, since even Persona 4 had the angsty "ex"-fat girl who hates herself. What genuinely amazed me about this when I read it in the manga is that she actually has stretch marks!

Spoiler pic here.

Her weight issues have literally scarred her and make her afraid to expose herself to anyone, tying in nicely to her psychological issues and the things she has to deal with as someone with no self-confidence. The body is actually a thing her, and being naked is a true vulnerability.
Of course, that ties into the arty image that they use at the end of the episode - the broken mirror/glass - in obvious ways that probably don't need explaining.

The other thing, of course, is the fact that there isn't just lip-service to having sex. We see Aiko and her boyfriend in a love hotel, post-coital. There is no pussyfooting around and while this is old hat in shows about teenagers in the rest of the world - and probably in most shoujo manga, to be fair - to see it in anime form without all the shitty herpaderp that comes with going to a love hotel that you find in most anime is just refreshing. No awkward blushes, no first time blues - in fact, you don't even get to see what it would have been like to go in - you just see what happens when they're done.

I won't say it lived up to my massive expectations as an adaptation - it did feel toned down after the first two episodes and their needlessly arty direction - but its content certainly didn't disappoint and I'm looking forward to the next episode.

And if this show is one cour, I'm actually glad. That way, the show won't be remembered for some of the
bullshit that most shoujo haters complain about. lol

A nice little 80's OVA featuring the usual stuff: some tits, some gore and a whole lot of sexy mecha action. The mecha designs and key animation in episodes 2 and 3 were done by Masami Obari so you can expect some beautiful shading and great attention to detail.

The first episode had a different guy working on it so you can really tell how much the designs have improved when Obari jumped in:

Anyway, if you're into great old school animation (the effects are also animated beautifully) and mecha porn you should definitely check this out, the story is as simple as they get, but it doesn't really ruin the enjoyment of watching Obari's beautiful designs.

Avoid Iczelion.
It sucks.

First ep of this was pretty boring to me and didn't feel like it had much potential, but maybe I'll listen to firehawk and give it a chance.

[Blast of Tempest] - 3

I only watch this show for the animation and cinematography. I'm man enough to admit that. I will take any chance I can to see Masahiro Ando doing what he does best: fight choreography:

The way every shot in this sequence connects and moves along a trajectory from the ground to the wall manages to flow incredibly smoothly while demonstrating the weight of the hits the character takes.

It's the anti-Kimi ni Todoke in tone and content. At least for the part that the anime will cover.

Although, perhaps like Kimi ni Todoke, the friends are more interesting when you get to the actual relationship stuff.

Phew! I thought I was the only one watching it still. It's a nice counter-balance to Tonari.

Madpierrot and wonzo are watching it too. I think I convinced someone else, but I can't remember. lol

I genuinely think it's better than Monster, but more because it offers something new (to me) rather than anything involved with production values or whatnot.

I don't know anything about anime, but I got the worst nostalgia pangs for Bubblegum Crisis, the show that served as the gateway drug to Blade Runner for a very young daycru. Is there any kind of streaming solution or otherwise where I can rewatch the original series?
