The original card "minigame" didnt feel like a particularly important part of the game, to be honest it felt a lot like padding. Not super disappointed if the new versions quicker

I have nothing against the new one, personally, but I kinda wish it shuffled the cards at least.

I don't know if it's only me, but from what I have played of the game the difficulty curve is a little weird. I mean, the game seems to be getting easier each dungeon I complete. For example, the last boss I've beaten was a complete joke.

It was like that in the original.

From what I recall that was more or less how it worked in vanilla P4, the first few dungeons might be tough but once you get a few under your belt it was largely plain sailing.

P4 on normal was the same way. First boss was a bit hard without redwall, then the next like 4 or 5 were easy before they got harder again.

I'll be playing P4G on the hardest as long as the stuff carries over into newgame+

Golden or P4? Because P4 has a few spiked, but Golden gets absurdly easy.

I don't think this is something you play for difficulty though. If you to be challenged, load up DDS2.

P4 is all about the chill, man.

Man, I'm getting excited about playing this on Risky :)

what if I put the game on Risky/Very Hard and never even initiate Rise's slink?

I'm sorry I confused you all, it's the original.

I'm not playing it for the difficulty, anyways. It was only something curious.

Just to confirm, but this only happens if you choose the Very Easy difficulty setting, right? Right?!

Damage taken from enemy: Low
Damage given to enemy : High
Exp and money: More than normal (5x from normal lol)
Dungeon and battle retry enabled

Risky

Damage given to enemy : Low
Exp and money: Less than normal (around 0.4x from normal)

I guess this is the dungeon retry feature, so it shouldn't be that way when you choose "Risky".
During New Game+ you can customize the difficulty settings on the fly.

There's at least one difficulty spike then. I think it's in July or August.

I'm at the end of September.
Naoto's secret lab. Shadow Naoto kept spamming a skill that invalidates the elemental resistences, and I was thinking: Thanks for the extra turns!

Oh man, you are awesome :)

Wow, looks like Risky is my jam. Now about this dungeon retry thing, if I'm some Joe Anime/Casual or a newbie that buys this game for $39.99 I might appreciate that, but is it a one shot deal or what?

I don't know what the big deal is about not losing all of the boring grinding you did because you lost at a boss.

Perfect. The only thing keeping me away from Risky was the decreased money. I really don't like that. Are the compendium prices still increased in harder difficulties? That's annoying too but I can deal with it.

Well, I think that:

  1. Notion of lost progress brings tension, causes risk assessment
  2. This possibly creates challenge

However, I also think that:

  1. Losing grinding remedied by more grinding is silly, especially when the best of P4 is not the dungeons
  2. Dying by a instakill Mudo, weak-string, or accident is a pain in the ass and you have the potential to cause a player to stop playing your game

And yet, Persona 4 Golden is perfect for vet players since we can play on Hard or Risky. This balances out things well from what I can tell.

This is great information, thank you! Risky looks so enticing, but I'm not sure how much time I really want or have to sink into this. I really wish dungeon retry was its own separate option.

Well said.
Being killed by mudo or hama is especially frustrating, since it's game over if just the MC dies. The other characters should have the opportunity to revive you. Hell, if MC dies, then all characters can switch to auto until you're revived, since he's not conscious to give them orders.

Dungeon Retry shoulda been a Safety-only thing. It interferes with the plot otherwise.

I'm gonna give P3 another shot, but from the 5ish hours that I played, I cannot for the life of me figure out why this series is so popular....

Is everyone who plays this game like a huge anime fan or something? Or did I just not get far enough into the game to "get it" ?

"Huge fan" or "fan of only the good shit" one.

Generally not an anime fan, myself. However, like every other form of entertainment, if it's something I find to be good, I'll watch/play/read it, regardless of the medium.

If it's anything like the PS3, you can transfer it to and from via PC but some things like Trophies or the ability to save the game is lost since the system may recognize that it was made by a different console/user.

It looks like you can't back up only saves, and have to back up the entire memory card, and Vita system storage. You can restore it to another Vita, but some content is restricted.

Speaking of trophies, if I copy my game over to my PC so I can switch my Vita's user account, and then later switch back to my original account and move it back from my PC to my Vita, will I be able to earn trophies on my existing saves?

I don't see why not, since you're restoring the content back to the same account and Vita. I did a backup, and it never said anything about trophies being disabled on restored content.
Still, might be a good idea to check at the beginning, rather than try in the middle of the game and risk being locked out of earning any further trophies.

Well I've already finished it. :p But I'm going to save the Quiz trophy until the next time I copy it back from my PC to my Vita so I can test it. That one should be pretty quick to get since I already have the quiz unlocked.

I thought you were a legendary English philosopher who somehow acquired time travel and traveled to the future, you aren't? You arent John Locke? Oh, I shall save my philosophy for later.

If I could travel through time, why would I travel to a point before P4G has released? Come now, sir!

Son of a b...., sorry but I hate the locking world we are in now, I loved the PS1-2/GC days where you could trade saves and memory cards. I was able to enjoy RPGs so much more, I am terrible at them and have such little time becoming a new father that I am not going to be able to get into the games as much anymore, sorry end rant.

Just wondering something about Risky. Did P3P did the same with the Exp in Maniac?

Whenever I play the game I'll play it on risky, but something tells me that either I do a low-level run or I'm going to grind like a Maniac :)lol)

If you could travel in time you would travel to P5's English release and avoid any spoilers.

What a gross abuse of such power!
Man, I'd definitely do it.

What are you trying to do with shared saves? Download saved games where you're a high level, with all items and such? If you're worried about not having time, and wishing to play just for the story, there is a casual mode that basically lets you waltz through the game effortlessly. Plus it's on the Vita, so you can just pick up and play anytime you have a free moment, and put it back in sleep mode when you're done.

The only reason I dislike the higher difficulty settings in P3P is because it drastically increases the cost of summoning personae from the compendium. Hopefully it will not be that way here.

That's tradition in Raidou 1 and Nocturne too.

And I doubt more than ten people on this planet have cleared Raidou 1's devil mode, including me. Boy is it nuts.
