"Micosoft just passed 10 years with XBox Live. This is year one for Nintendo"

That should not be used as an excuse for Nintendo, that is one of their failings.

Is Mario all 2d "pre-rendered in 3d" characters? doesn't look like any polygons to me. The look is freaking me out.

I seriously doubt it. it looks like the same 3D character models as the other NSMB games - just in higher res

I get the impression that they're not offering it as a "pass" but just as an observation of what the reality is. Nintendo is behind and it shows.

anyone elses streams keep going out of sync? I have to keep refreshing mine every 5 minutes or so or theres huge audio sync issues.

Can't find anything exciting about this system from what I'm seeing, from the games to the 'gimmick'. So far it looks like I won't be tempted to jump ship before next gen hits.

The whole posting a message thing is basically straight out of Demon Souls/Dark Souls by the look of things.

This all just looks so uninteresting.

The user interface is so weird, it looks very counter-intuitive and it is slooooow.

yeah, but Microsoft is also the most experienced os company on the planet, it's an insult to microsoft and unfair to nintendo and sony to put them up against each other. im surprised nintendo even managed this much, it's not an easy task building an os from scratch, and with all that social networking stuff built in.

I must say even though i'm a big nintendo fan i don't see too much interesting stuff with the wiiu so far. I expected a lot more of it although i cant say exactly what it is. The os looks it needs further development, everything looks laggy and slow . After the GC/Ps2 era everything seems to be going down from the gaming perspective and it seems it will continue on the wiiu. I was hyped for the console but now it's just meh. Besides first party stuff the biggest feature until now seems a good support for smaller developers so they will maybe bring some interesting game.

Regarding console OSes (not what I was referring to, btw): Sony's implementation, while not perfect, is still pretty robust. Coming from someone who rarely used the Wii OS this is just pretty foreign to me but not "bad".. just slow.

However, my comment was not talking about the OS but the online experience, where Microsoft is currently not the clear cut leader anymore and their OS experience no longer seems to be doing them any good. That said, Nintendo staying out of the game for so long leaves them at a disadvantage.

I go where console Monsters Hunter is, so I'm getting a WiiU no matter, but to be honest, kinda disappointing so far.

Of course! I wonder how many monthly updates we have ahead of us while Nintendo optimizes the OS? I look forward to the journey.

Hope the next update ain't in the GB range heh

Man the Donkey Kong thing is selling me so hard on Nintendoland. Sadly the other solo games don't sell it for me and the competitive modes is only local :/
