Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed |OT| Everybody's Super Sonic Racing

In the manual it says you can do stunts by flicking the wiimote if you're playing with the wiimote+nunchuk but it doesn't work. Motion control is turned on in the settings. Is this another bug?

Also, pressing B while holding Y to shoot an item backward with the WiiU gamepad doesn't work.

Something that's been bugging me: Is the music supposed to stutter at the start of a race? Because it's been doing that ever since I started playing. Not only that, but now all of the music in game won't play anymore, just sound effects. Has that happened to anyone else?

The music "stutters" for me (it plays the first note a few times), but I thought that was intentional, as I quite like it.

Sucks that no music at all is playing for you though. Have you tried changing the volume in the menu? Restarting the game? Clearing your cache, and redownloading the patch?

This game is pretty damn awesome.

and this is gonna sound weird but it's so colorful and for some reason that is a big plus.

I can't explain it.

It's wonderful and I think Sumo are a fantastic developer. It just seems to be riddled with many small problems, even more-so than the first game. I've only been playing for three - four hours and I've noticed many.

Yeah, but bear in mind that this game juggles three very different vehicle mechanics, and the levels have to be designed around that. It's only understandable that there are a few more bugs than the first game.

Hopefully, they'll be patched out eventually.

Voting update:

Segata: 2097
Miku: 1820
Ryo: 1781 -> Ryo made a pretty big comeback.
Vectorman: 784
Ristar: 696
Bayonetta: 670

ONLY YOU can prevent Ristar from beating Bayonetta!

We must spread the word...we can't sign more than once, right?

Dunno if it was brought up or not, but there's video footage of the (partly unfinished) characters that have been found on the 360 disc. I actually hope they'll be added, because they all seem to be pretty funny (though I do expect the
Team Fortress 2 character to be the PC exclusive
)

That said, my biggest complaint about the game are the water sections. There's some courses where the boat sections are REALLY tight (a few parts of the Burning Rangers course and Billy Hatcher come to mind), which makes it extremely hard to navigate through them. I can understand boat physics being a lot more slippery, but unless you go perfectly (which is hard with a barrage of projectiles being fired at you), you'll run into walls.
Speaking of the Billy Hatcher course - fuck that one. Not only is that water cave tight, but the walls also have the same color of the water. You won't believe how many times it took me to finally get the muscle memory down for that. -.-
With that said, the water sections in the Golden Axe, Shinobi and Afterburner courses are awesomely done, and exactly what I would've liked more.

MOVING ON. Is it just me or does the AI gang up on you and specifically only aim for you? I've seen a LOT of CPUs keeping an item although they have the perfect opportunity to fire it at someone 1 inch in front of them to shoot it at me when I pass them or even better, aim back and fire them right into my face. I've already mentioned that before, but not even the Mario Kart AI has been THAT anti-player-focused.

The CPU absolutely throw items backwards at the player even when it would make more sense to try and move ahead by attacking those in front, so really it's best to be incredibly wary of any projectile holder in front of you.

I love how Segata is dominating the poll.

If he actually makes it in, it will be the single greatest moment of fan service in history. Sumo will forever be my favourite developer.

Just started this up, and I'm having a lot of fun. Just going through the easy level world tour mode to get accustomed to the game, but it seems pretty cool thus far.

Yea, that Billy Hatcher stage had me crashing into the walls while on the boat because I thought the wall was an opening and then it wasn't so I lost my first place...=(

Haha, yeah. Never forget.

You can vote for multiple characters but only once for each individual chacacter. I posted in a couple of Bayonetta related boards. I know she's 6th now, but I think there's a pretty good chance Sega'll skip a character or two because of various reasons (too expensive, doesn't fit the game, etc)

I'm curious to see what Sumo do next with the Sega Superstars/All-Star series. I'm assuming we'll see another entry at some point, as they do pretty well.

I'd love to see a fighter along the same lines as Smash Bros. I know Sumo have no experience with fighting games, but at this point, they have my faith that they can make good on anything they tackle.

Of course, I wouldn't object if they stick with racers. If Nintendo has been getting away with it for so long with Mario Kart, there's no reason why Sumo can't with this, a much better series.

Probably the only one here who thinks this, but Ristar is a better addition than Bayonetta. I like both games, admittedly I like Ristar more, but Ristar is just a better fit for the game.

I just want Sega based characters mainly in here. And for no Miku Hatsune whatsoever.

Agreed, I'd prefer internal sega characters over licensed ones. I dislike Danica's addition, and don't want anymore like that. It's also gonna make it a pain in the ass for digitally distributed copies when they lose the license in the future and either A. have to remove said characters, or B. renew licenses to continue selling them. Neither of which will likely happen.

I'm really more worried about this happening in regards to Ralph than Danica Patrick. I was pretty shocked when they first announced he was in the game.

PS3 online is deader then PRE-RELEASE wat.

The one guy that joined my lobby kept leaving. Probably because my rank was so much higher than his.

Sega All-Stars Battle Chess. You know it.

The billy hatcher course is the sloppiest work Sumo has done by far. Scratching my head as to how this one made it in.

Gamestop finally got my Wii U copy in, haven't patched it yet so I can do the Boost Challenges but we will see how long it takes before I get the urge to play online :D

Game is awesome though. I really liked the first one, and I think this one is better in a lot of respects. Also can't beat that $40 price point.

Today has not been so lucky for me. My brother and I were playing Grand Prix mode and we were playing on Galatic Parade. The Wii U kept hard locking itself somewhere on the stage. It did it twice and then we decided to play Nintendo Land. Anyone experience some weird issues?

So when this game works online it's great fun. However...

I was just playing the billy hatcher course. In the water I was Nights and used my all star move. I used it until I got back on road and then it ran out. Except when I transformed out of it I was still in my boat. And it still functioned like a boat-- on land. Essentially, I just skated a few feet for 10 seconds before getting consistently reset to the same spot but still in the boat. It was so hilarious I wasn't even mad I finished last.

I get that, but I think Ralph is definitely a marketable character. The reality is Danica is not, the SEGA fanbase was largely annoyed that she was put into the game. Hatsune? I doubt this game would do particularly well in Japan, regardless of whether she's in it or not. Ralph though? Given the cross promotion with the film, and Sonic being featured within it, I think that promotion made sense for marketing purposes.

Maybe it would have been wiser to make him a free DLC character? Or something along those lines? To avoid the potential of license expiration, of course.

In the same vein sonic has a line in the movie...they probably worked that out.

Interesting news regarding the DLC: I don't have the game yet (waiting on PC version, or when I pick up a Wii U), but apparently if you unplug your internet from the console, and set the clock to Christmas day (or beyond?),
Alex Kidd becomes playable
. Not paid DLC, a timed unlock.

Said unlock goes away when you reconnect to the internet and your console automatically adjusts the time back, but promising.

It hard locked on me too in that track. On the second lap near the beginning after the first jump.

I ran into someone using him online on PS3 today.

Guh, this game still has that problem where sometimes you can be going too fast and it fucks you up

I get caught on overhangs every now and then on some tracks, like just now doing an S-Rank Boost Challenge with Metal Sonic on the Jet Set Radio rooftops track, I was going a little too fast and caught the corner of a roof instead of going under it and basically lost all my speed (plus I nearly fell out of track boundaries)

Happens a lot on the Golden Axe track, though. Taking one of the snake paths (far left, usually) it is pretty much guaranteed that I'll scrape the roof and lose some of my speed.

I guess it's better than the first ASR, where you could be going so fast you miss vital jumps that carry you forward in the track. THOSE were always the worst. That Billy Hatcher track with the lava, there were a couple of jumps where if you didn't let off the gas in mid-air you'd sail right out of bounds every single time. That's the opposite of what I want to do in a game like that.

In general, being punished for going too fast in a game where Sonic gets top billing is a no-no.

What the hell, why is Miku in the character poll? Why is she in second place??

Hopefully Sumo will ignore her in favor of an actual Sega character.

Is by now known which Sega-character is exclusive to one platform - and which one?

Kind of crazy how they pretty much cut out half of the roster of the first game and replaced them with lesser characters few care about, apart from obviously Gilius and Joe Musashi. I miss the zombie duo from HOTD too, didn't know who the fuck they were, but they were cool. If it were truly up to me we'd have Tj&E, Ristar, Headdy, Chuck Rock etc. I'd have Chuck D Head from Decap Attack too.

(Edit) sorry to seem overly negative, I'm actually loving this game.

Holy shit, what a fucking game this is. I just got it today and I love it. Not just for all the Sega fanservice, although that is undeniably nice and a big selling point, but underneath all that is a genuinley great racing game.

I'm really taken aback by just how good this is.

It's cool mate, but you tend to get over it in time. Besides Joe's vehicle is friggin' cool looking~

First post'll be updated in a few hours, for now I'd like for everyone to post what technical issues they've had with playing the game, but please also mention what ver. of the game you're playing on.
Here's an example:
Version: X-box 360
1-
2-
3-

Okay S rank CPU, now you're just being silly.
When I do a boost race as Genesis mod Eggman with full speed and almost full boost it should give me quite an edge, so why I ask was I trailing behind Nights who crashed twice into sky mines, never air drifted and missed boost opportunities on lap 3 of Rogues' Landing? meanwhile I hit more boosts, air drifted for even more boosts and didn't crash at all. BUT HEY IT'S COOL IT'S NOT LIKE I'M ANGRY OR ANYTHING!

Well the ones I remember right now...

PS3
1- Nights Track, The transformation from boat to plane at the end of the lap often flings you into the nearby cliff for no reasons
2- Graffiti City is just a bit flawed on the whole, I can't outright nail any specific issues but i've had some of the games more problematic moments here and floated off into the air once because I took a jump but hit a bit of wall before landing.
3- Burning Depths small green ramp, seems to sometimes have you go straight into an invisible wall when trying to head over it.
4- Adder's Lair, clipping the ceiling of either Adder Mouth, can be averted by easing on the acceleration but the CPU seem to be fine blitzing through at full speed here, what's the deal? hit detection in general can seem a bit iffy at times.
5- I can't seem to find any Valkyria Chronicles characters in this game, what's going on here?

First post'll be updated in a few hours, for now I'd like for everyone to post what technical issues they've had with playing the game, but please also mention what ver. of the game you're playing on.
Here's an example:

1) Going too fast on the ramp into the snake's head in Adder's Lair results in you hitting the roof of the snake's throat, and stopping dead. As mentioned above, this can be avoided by slowing down a bit, but the AI doesn't slow down, and we shouldn't have to compromise our speed to account for a flaw in the track design. This could easily be fixed by removing collision detection from that area.

2) During online races, there are times when the computer can bump you, and you're rammed so hard, it stops you completely.

3) I haven't played Matchmaking yet, but a friend told me that they played a few games, and came first place in several, yet the results showed that they came last. That might just be a problem with their connection though. However, I was in a private lobby yesterday, and the results screen showed everybody as having a finishing time of exactly 1 minute (the ranking order was correct though).

4) Exiting the Nightmare sections of Dream Valley can sometimes shove you to the left or right when transforming into a boat.

These are all the 360 version.
