2012 High-Res PC Screenshot Thread of Don't Use Imgur

lol @ spoiling a story-heavy game like the Walking Dead. What the fuck was the poster thinking?

Especially since there's isn't much point in putting that game in the screenshot thread. It looks all right but you're not playing that game for the graphics. Telltale's engine sucks.

AC3, no spoilers! Frontier only =P (on other hand, I don't consider location spoilers to be spoilers really, but sorry to the people that do. The modern day stuff I'm certain was seen pre-release as well)

Anywho, I cheated a little and went all content-aware in Photoshop on that money counter's ass. It's not perfect, but I think it works well enough for the almost no effort it takes, and it's only noticeable when you know what you're looking for. To that end, I've linked the originals as well. The most glaring flaw is in the explosion shot, since I decided to take out that big objective complete element.

This thread needs a unified spoiler rule on releases. Maybe 1/2 week waiting period where things seen in press before release are all ok, then after that you can post what you like.

This way 1. people can post screens, those wanting to view IQ can do so in the first week/two.

And 2. people can't complain if they see a spoiler after week 1/2 , no matter how big.

How about people just use common sense and not post obvious story spoilers?

I mean, it should not be that hard to do.

Its not realistic to expect people to know exactly what has been show in press before release.

Personally, I am fine with later areas of a game being show, don't come here if you don't want to see later stages of a game.

No, some people need to see the IQ of a PC game before they decide to buy, how dare you deny a short 1 week spoiler-free grace period to your Graphic-Whoring PC Brothers. For Shame.

It will stop people from complaining because the rule would also be that you can post anything else after that without issue, anyone complaining about spoilers after a week would be fucking stupid. I'm trying to reach across the isle here, bro.

But I don't think people should be posting obvious story spoilers after a week, or ever, in fact.

The thread is about showcasing the graphics and cool screenshots - not spoiling stories.

If we make an explicit rule saying everything goes after a week then we will end up getting more spoilers than we get right now.

Hey you guys, what's the absolute best looking Crysis config?
The one I worked on CCC,

good point, i secede my case. Just make sure people coming in might be spoiled lightly, LIKE ON THIS FUCKING PAGE, thank Gabe I don't play Walking Dead. jajaja holy shit

double penetration

indeed, with scitek and you i can never go hungry from screenshot withdrawl.

Also, just searching for a CCC video on youtube to show as an example what it looks like, i'm humbled to see people still posting gameplay videos about it in Crysis/Warhead in 2012) regarding the great performance/graphics balance it gave em.

Warms my hear to see part of myself on the internet being enjoyed by others. /nottalkingaboutnakedpicsofme

On the other side of that monitor was massive Blops 2 spoilers. Thank you based Dennis for only screenshotting the back of it.

You say that as if I'd ever play blops. I played MW2 once, that was bad enough.

>thinking this is a chan
Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn

Post whatever you want I say, bitching about spoilers is stupid. Also if you think games are about the WHO or WHAT and not the WHY, you're doing it wrong.

Yeah, this is kind of important. Honestly, screenshots are really light when it comes to 'spoiler territory'. They're largely devoid of context, and really, just because you know what happens doesn't mean the moment it does will have lost any of its emotional gravity.

Hell, I've re-watched the one scene in Crash where the kid gets shot several times now and it still gets my eyes watery. (Damn good movie, btw!)

Thanks for the impressions, I really want to try it but my financial situation as of recently prevents me from randomly splurging on games. Maybe a future sale for me.

Hey man.

You need to rip the game and dsp LLE with the help of your wii, if you have your wii homebrew setup'd then all you need is a program called dspspy I believe. You can play the game with a 360 pad + mouse for the pointer parts and as for your specs your gpu will do just fine but you'll probably have to oc your cpu if you want to be able to emulate the more demanding games like for example smg 1/2.

Black_Stride

do not tempt fate do not contrain Wonder Woman's thighs do not do not
Exactly my fucking point.

Fuck that!
I didnt need to know he loses an arm, true indeed i dont know how he loses it, but now as im playing the game ill be sitting there waiting for this moment to happen......it detracts from my enjoyment, thing is it wasnt even that good a screenshot really, the game looks practically the same from EP1 all the way through to 5, there was no need to post something so big and blatant

Call me a bitch or whatever, but spoilers for the sake of spoiling shit is damn inconsiderate, i dont even post substantial spoilers for old games.

Anytime a new, visually striking game with "story elements" ( as in not a fighting game, racing game, mmo, etc ) hits I steer the fuk clear from this thread. I still haven't finished Dishonored but I sure as hell have seen most of it. Never understood why people insist posting pics many hours into brand new games. Post the first hour or so fine but don't go and show every bloody level before the rest of us have had the chance to even finish our download.

I don't own Walking Dead but considering that game is like 90% story then it's pretty darn inconsiderate to post any kind of spoilers from that game imo, dozens of way to post nice screens without giving stuff away in games like that.

If you haven't played the game, then spoiler may be devoid of context, but even an hour in, a screenshot of a moment yet to occur speaks loads. I does happens that one ends up deducting the entire plot from a single picture if one has been paying any attention to the game.

You need the 310.54 Beta Driver : Link to Detailed Info on 310.54 Beta Driver | Link to 310.54 Beta Driver

For TXAA (you need a Kepler GPU), install the driver then in Call of Duty, 2xTXAA and 4xTXAA will appear as AA options after 8xMSAA and 16xCSAA. Make sure to turn FXAA off. Like MSAA in Call of Duty, TXAA works with TrSSAA and SGSSAA when enabled via the inspector. For SGSSAA, grab the NVIDIA Inspector. In the Inspector set the following,

Antialiasing - Mode : Override any application setting
Antialiasing - Setting : 4x [4x Multisampling]
Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling : 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling

Thanks.
I've tried 4xMSAA + 4xSGSSAA:

Is the best IQ I've obtained so far (I don't downsample).
But I'm curious to try TXAA + 4xSGSSAA. How to set that?

You should, it's the epitome of AA methods and less cumbersome than fiddling with individual inspector bits on a game by game basis.
I don't know about 'epitome', it's not as thorough and more performance-hungry (since you're basically brute-forcing it) than even SGSSAA. Plus refresh rate issues etc.

I treat it as a last resort for games that have no other (non-post) method of anti-aliasing.

I've always found downsampling to be WAY less of a performance hog than SGSSAA.

Only because you never actually go as high-res as SGSSAA (with exception for some posters here).

2x SGSSAA is basically the equivalent of 2x1 resolution - for example, 3840x1080 on standard widescreen monitors. 4x SGSSAA is 2x2, or 3840x2160. Try downsampling at such a resolution, and I guarantee you'll see a bigger performance dip than with SGSSAA.

Eh? It's by definition the most thorough form of AA ( super sampling ) and as such yes it is mroe performance hungry. For me it's the goto AA, I even use downsampling before I start using ingame AA since most modern solutions are nonexistent / shite out of the box.

Same here, and for what it's worth I think downsampling from ~~3840x2160 looks much better than X xSGSSAA that would be the equivalent of the same res. Dishonored was a good example of this.

This.
I have a 120Hz monitor and I don't want to consider the idea to go at inferior refresh rates. :p

That's a perfectly valid concern, not only with regards to difficulty to maintain that framerate but also the bandwidth issues where 120hz 3840x2160 or the like simply isn't feasible.
