I'm surprised that people are so hung up on RFA lying in the interview. I'd just take it for granted that people selling product will lie.
The more interesting fact is that he did an astonishingly terrible job of explaining how the Wii U relates to the Wii, to tablets, and so on. For example, when asked why someone would use a Wii U rather than an Apple tablet, kept talking about how the Wii U Game Pag will "seamlessly" interface with the console. Yes, from what I understand it only starts to affect performance when showing something different on screen ala multiplayer for example. Mirroring does little or nothing at all.

With regards to Reggie, he has lied before so it isnt anything new. It's common from all game companies, and companies in general. PR guys have to be a bit scummy to sell their product.

The tablet is no Wii-mote, and a party setup doesn't seem all that attractive either. 2 tablet controllers isn't going to cut it, so the Wii U selling point is a harder sell this time around.
The Wii was a beast for this type of play and could be marketed as such, with multiple people standing and making moves with their limbs. That triggered its success. With the Wii U there is this regular controller with a screen, someone playing solo. And the Wii was much cheaper to begin with as well.

Yes, possibly quite a bit. The Wii U basically treats the Gamepad as a second monitor, so even if all a game is doing is mirroring the main display, at a minimum the game is copying the contents of the frame buffer into a full screen texture on the second screen. It's possible Nintendo setup some mode where developers can tell the system to send the exact same image to both screens as if you were using a splitter, so that no performance would be affected, though of course then there couldn't be a single difference between the two.
You forgot that these third party devs "lack the honor" to properly develop for the U.

I have been playing it too. The game looks way better on the gamepad then the 360 (I rented it) and PS3 version (I own this version). But on the big screen, it looks identical to the other versions with the exception of better lighting effects.
The first one was good. This one is just stupid.

I agree with Reggie I have COD on 360 and Wii U... It looks sharper and better on Wii U. However I will refrain from saying it's stellar.
Wait till we get games next year that look much improved.. Impressive for ports in 6-7 months with new hardware and outdated development kits..

I don't generally disagree with the assessment, I don't foresee Wii U having the same breakout experience as Wii and neither will it have the same success. But I was wrong on Wii, in that regard, so I'm just going to have to give Nintendo somewhat of the benefit of the doubt. It could get such a game, and then its price versus 360 and PS3 won't matter, and it would eventually be back at a price advantage versus the next systems.
If that game or mechanic never comes, then yes, price becomes a problem, followed thereafter by capability.

The colors and lighting are better than PS3 and 360. Why is everyone on Reggie's ass? It does indeed look better and when the developers actually start diving into the tech the graphics will continue to look better and almost on par with the next gen sony and microsoft systems
EDIT; I've been playing Mario Galaxy 2 on Wii U and it looks like an HD game now. It kind of did before but now the colors are more vibrant and the framerate is smooth as hell. If Nintendo can do that with an "aging" tech, then I cannot wait to see what they do with an HD console

Look, what he said is blatantly false. He's obviously lying. I can't imagine anyone disputing that. But have you ever watched a dude selling product sell product before? Ever? Have you ever watched an infomercial? Have you ever watched a press conference for a product launch? An investors' call?
People getting upset about Reggie lying are either trolling, or radically uninformed, or must spend every waking minute of their lives freaking out about company mouthpieces lying.
So we can now confirm that wii u will be the same as wii regarding third party support...i wonder if Nintendo will understand that 3rd party developers are always interested in doing new stuff tech wise....unless they start money hatting i'm not seeing what will change....at least build some new studios Nintendo.
