Ahahahahahaha, no.

One factor might be that Darkness and Time released in a year with no main Pokemon titles, whereas BW2 came out a few weeks ago.

You mean 5 months ago?

Mystery Dungeon 3DS had a poor first week. Yes, it may crawl to a respectable total eventually, but at best you're probably looking at half of what Mystery Dungeon 2 did. Heck, the first game did better on DS in 2005, and it was a GBA port.

Who expect EX Trooper to sell good anyway? The game barely exist anywhere. We got very small information/media from this game. Capcom didn't really promote it. And the review scores are medium at best.

I knew that Animal Crossing was anticipated by our Japanese friends, but damn - those are some impressive numbers. Are retail downloads of the game even counted?

Also, interesting to see Call Of Duty BLOPS2 at such a good position - I knew that COD games have their fanbase in Japan, but really good numbers nonetheless. But a shame that most of them bought the inferior version of the game.

I think that I can't add anything to the 3DS numbers - rise to heaven!

And I must confess that I didn't even know that EX Troopers was coming out - what a bomba, welp

I meant months. Sorry, didn't get much sleep.

And, yeah, I agree, this is an underperforming first week. Now that my mistake's been corrected, I can see that better.

My laughter was referring to the poster worried about the main games.

Call of Duty up, Pokemon down.

What's going on in Japan?

Mysterious Dungeon games seem to be getting less popular in general. Look at how the Shiren franchise has completely tanked for example. Pokemon is just a brand here. Even the strongest brand won't be able to save a genre from natural decline.

Did this new Pokémon game one day less than usual? It's been released on Friday; not that changes too much, but still; screaming and yelling it bombed seems a bit prejudicial.

Played the 3DS eShop demo of E.X. Troopers and had a lot of fun with it; some great music in there too! It's nice to see the 3DS version getting some recognition over the PS3 version as I had assumed the console version would see bigger numbers...but alas, both seem to be rather low :(

Dude, are you a washing machine? The amount of spin coming from you is going to make the one I use jealous. Say it would've sold an additional 50k on that missing day (which it wouldn't), the game still would've sold 400k less than its' previous sequel. All said and done, the 3DS game probably will crawl to 500k-700k, but that still represents a huge decline.

Can you two get a room please? :)

Will Vita dip below 4k this time?

The better question is can it sell > 20k on any given week for the rest of the year? My preliminary guess is no.

Also, PS3 within 4 million of Wii on MC and very close to it on Famitsu. I think it'll eventually get within 2 million of Wii's LTD number which would be a lot closer than anyone would have predicted a couple of years ago.

I don't think so. I think it'll hover between 6 and 9K (I hope). Unfortunate not having any decent holiday titles to push the hardware.

Also, have there been any ridiculous deals in Japan for the Vita like the US had on Black Friday?

Chris, I think you added a 3 to PES PSP:

Media Create:
20./14. [PSP] World Soccer Winning Eleven 2013 <SPT> (Konami) {2012.11.01} (¥3.980) - 6.967 / 362.952 (-18%)

Famitsu:
7./14. [PSP] World Soccer Winning Eleven 2013 <SPT> (Konami) {2012.11.01} (¥3.980) - 6.722 / 61.120 (-18%)

Either that or a huge discrepancy between the two, lol.

Do we think this year will do better overall than last year hardware-wise? I think so. Vita had a great opening at the end if the year but I think Wii U can match it.

Famitsu Sales: Week 48, 2012 (Nov 19 - Nov 25)
09./08. [3DS] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Best Price!) # <ACT> (Capcom) {2012.11.15} (¥3.800) - 13.735 / 39.141 (-8%)

Pretty sure they added the first or second week sales twice for the LTD, might want to update that.

Should be an LTD of 28,698.

[GBA] Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (Pokemon Co.) - 121,194 / 715,145
[NDS] Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team (Pokemon Co.) - 134,776 / 761,617
[NDS] Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time / Darkness (Pokemon Co.) - 583,713 / 1,527,498
[NDS] Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky (Pokemon Co.) - 142,264 / 417,226
[3DS] Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Dungeon <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) {2012.11.23} (¥4.800) - 125.911 / NEW

Worst debut for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.
Don't forget that it's available at eShop too.

It's a sign for Pokemon Company to not use 3D models in the next mainline Pokemon game, lol. Mystery Dungeon 3DS is the first one in the series to ditch the sprites.

I don't know, I don't think the ones buying this game are that much into the sprites.

It seems strange to just have one version out there - seems like a waste of the Pokemon concept from a commercial standpoint.

Dang, terrible for EX Troopers.
Also surprised it did better on 3DS, not like it's a significant amount or anything.

Pokemon's sales have nothing to do with 3D models, but it looks like a disappointment. Oh well, more sales to spread to Layton vs AA this week. 3DS is going to smash everything this holiday.

And US gamers reply:

"Give us as many games as in Japan, and then we will think".

European gamers are shouting the same thing.
Native Western 3DS titles are pretty weak at best, while Japanese publishers are in the middle of imploding (Sega, Squenix) or are scumbag Capcpom.

Seems like a smart idea for Reggie to encourage Day 1 Digital for new titles to reduce risk, but Nintendo seems allergic on the idea.
