Not to derail the thread but the ending actually makes a lot of sense if you pay attention to the little hints during the game and I was very happy they went there...and the they announced LR and everything was back to being shit again.

Seriously, this thing is already coming to be on par with the DS for RPGs and it's so early. SE needs to get its crap in gear.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: 650,000

ATB sounds very much like a subtitle, and they pulled this with 4 Heroes of Light.
Edit: Actually, I looked again, the game was labeled as a FF game at the last minute in Japan, BD wasn't.

I think SE over time has disappointed us to the point if it isn't clear and concise then many won't care.
We expect to be crapped on basically.
The ending was bullshit, invalidated the efforts of two games, and made no damn sense the minute you take two seconds to sit down and think about what happens. It was also poorly written, frustrating in that the player's last decision had even less outcome on the plot than any other Live Trigger in the game, and ridiculously contrived.

I was thinking like that too, but seeing Squenix seems interested in expanding this into a new franchise. Putting back Final Fantasy in the title didn't sound so smart in the long run.

Bravely Default is meant to be it's own IP. Putting FF into the title goes against that very idea.
Why can't it be a PSN release now? Or given the Persona 3 treatment for a regular vita release?

Wasn't the point of the Flying Fairy subtitle was that it could have "FF" in the title? It is really just a reimagining of the Four Heroes of Light series.
Please be the US title for Bravely Default. Every 3DS owner in the States will buy it, I swear!

I really hope so. I don't care how dumb the American name is as long as we actually get to play it.
The game's producer recently said they'd like to first try out the social browser game in Europe, then if that does well, they'd think about localizing the 3DS game. That's why people are assuming this is the browser game. Note also the OP mentions they filed a European Community Trademark, which may support this whole idea.

All the Bravest wouldn't be much of an improvement, if at all, but then the names of Squeenix-developed/published RPGs this generation have been largely awful. I still cringe a little whenever I come across "Infinite Undiscovery".

Probably the browser game. Didn't they say they might release the browser game first if they were considering localisation? That also needed a better game. Isn't the browser game named BF: Praying Brage, and Brage means Browser Game?

Bravely Default is the most widely accepted gibberish name I've seen on here. I guess people don't bat an eyelash at it because they're anxious for a good jrpg.

Otherwise, yes, we'll pretty much excuse things like dumb names for good JRPGs these days.
"Dream Drop Distance" is surely in the running in this contest. I actually prefer these way-out-there titles to something as banal as "Lightning Returns". Imagine if they named all their RPGs like that? "Squall Emotes". "Ashley Forges".
