The problem with digital is the lack of self control one could possibly have because it's so easy to get games. At least with retail copies you have time during the drive to and from the store to rethink a purchase, especially if it's a impulse buy.

Guilty! :p

I heard some people do this for something called HSN... have to admit when I had cable and up nights with insomnia I use to watch the guy selling these Katana sets and Knife sets Ouuhh wee.
So glad Nintendo seems to be my only addiction. I guess this is why I fear getting a 360 might get the urge to collect all them FPS.

Maybe I will. :)

Although, I noticed there is no option to jump into a game with someone on your Friend List on Wii U, like you can on the 3DS. I guess it'll take a bit of coordination here. And my work hours are pretty unfriendly. Whatever, I'll download it a bit later.

I'm going to pick it up in a couple weeks myself. Just need to finish up a couple games first and then I plan to get it. Seems like a good purchase, especially since I missed the first. I hope it sells well and there are more people willing to play Online.

The only thing holding me back buying anything on the eshop or wii VC is the way Nintendo ties it to the HW. I really wish they would adopt something akin to he Sony or ms model.

I thought content was tied to your NNID and that was tied to the system? In theory we should be able to transfer from system to system the way we can with the 3DS to 3DS or 3DS to 3DS XL?

I buy most of my stuff online (Amazon/Ebay/GAF) and I have hundreds of games that I never played. Lately I've been better about not buying stuff unless I really plan to play it and of course, I'm trying to work through my backlog.

The Wii U can play any regular Wii game disks correct? Also how is the virtual console? Are nintendo 64 and gamecube games available for download? One game id love to get my hands on again is MarioKart Doubledash, I assume it wont play Gamecube disks but maybe its there as a download?

I enjoyed PaperMario64 but I have no idea how it plays on the Wii. If you enjoyed Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga type games, then you'll definitely like Paper Mario. I do think the Gamecube version (Thousand Year Door) was the best in the series but the 64 version is still good.
Thanks for the help but I've just found out that it needs the wii classic controller but doesn't use the wiiu pro controller. There are £5 ones on eBay but I'm sure they're knock offs.
I will wait it out and hope Nintendo unifies the wii VC with the wiiu store to fix this. I think what pisses me off most is how snes games run through a decent emulator with different filters yet Nintendo put them on the VC with such little care.
I ain't holding out much hope though!

There is no VC for Wii U yet.

Anyone in the UK know what the deal is with Nintendo points cards for the Wii U? Only ones I can find are:

http://www.game.co.uk/en/nintendo-s...attributeName2=Catalog_GameSalesCatalog_EN_GB

While they do confirm the 3DS eShop, they also mention Wii and DS, but I was under the impression those points were different. Do these cards work on Wii U?

Any cards that have your local currency on it and have the 3DS eShop on it will also work for the Wii U eShop. In this case these cards will work with every Nintendo plattform (DSi, Wii, 3DS, Wii U).

oh ok, bad news but im sure they will have it soon

I just read all wii stuff is compatible with the Wii U so im curious why the Wii U pro controller is $50 but the classic pro controller is $20, doesnt seem like a big difference between the two, can anyone confirm the classic pr controller works fine with the Wii U cause if so id like to save myself $30

I had no fun drawing with Swapnote on 3DS it had a strokes limit and my screen was too small I've seen people pull off great stuff on Swapnote but I could not keep up.

On Miiverse even though the drawing area might be a similar in size the gamepad is large enough where it is comfortable to hold and move for long periods of time. I can spend an hour on a drawing if I want just to practice and learn without the stroke limit.

So many much more talented people on there to inspire you to keep at it too. You just hit most popular on any community and scroll and most of them are amazing game art

I am so worried I am going to rub a hole into my screen, for drawing I use a fine point metal ballpoint pen with without ink makes it easier for me to get one pixel

...now give me some nano assault competition >:)

Only one ahead of me is Spacehawq

I've been behind on that on my wall of backlog rotation. I only ever made it to the second stage I am sure I am off the list by now.
Will give it a run later today.

Been playing Nintendo Land and SMBWU for a while now. So far I'm really liking this console. The thing that most impresses me is the UI. I mean this is great, I love the little plaza with all the posts people are making, is there a way to walk around it by the way? The response between gamepad screen and TV screen is literally instant, I believe that was a key thing Nintendo would have to pull off, so its a good thing they nailed it.

Mii verse is truly next gen stuff. It isn't always about the graphics, the way Mii verse makes you feel like you are part of a living breathing world of fellow gamers playing along with you is so cool, I love it.

And I still haven't even started my first play throughs of Mario Galaxy and Xenoblade.

Asked this a few pages ago, but it was one of the latest posts in the page and seems to have gotten lost. It's also a good chance to elaborate on it; I'm a Wii owner only, getting a Deluxe Wii U to open on Christmas, and I'm looking for good games to buy. Already ordered Mario and ZombiU, but reading Smiles and Cries' buyin' spree (not to mention EatChildren's comments on it) I'd appreciate recommendations on the stuff I missed from the PS360 that's now available on Wii U. The only one that intrigues me right now is Batman, which is said to be one helluva game, but impressions about framerate and all make me wary. Thanks a bunch in advance!

Batman IS AWESOME.

I'm playing that right now and it is a fantastic game. I beat Arkham Asylum on the PS3 and decided to wait to get the Wii U version of Arkham City. The game is gorgeous and the Gamepad implementation is outstanding. Having Alfred talking to you through the gamepad speakers while you're on missions is so incredibly immersive. My only regret is that I bought it on disc. I didn't think that WB was going to release it digitally, so I couldn't wait and I got the disc version. Looks like this game is now getting an eShop release. *grumble*

I feel the same way & have been trying to explain to friends that are on the fence on Wii U about what it is like.

When you see the random posts and amazing pictures that people post, it just really gives you this nice feeling & none of the negativity of some of the broader online platforms available elsewhere.

I think Nintendo did good this time because it allows people who may not have a friends list filled with users to also feel included in a way. If that makes sense.

Well, I like it.

Get Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate when it comes out next March !!!

So good on Wii and will be way better in 1080P HD on next gen console with no HUD and full online play with 3DS compatability.

Agree - Mii Verse and Amazon ratings are saying the same things that it is the best 3rd party game on Wii U right now except for Black Ops.

I might grab it when it gets the Digital release. Have they said when it will available?

Any tips for getting a high school on Nano Assault? Loving the game but it seems like I'm missing some important tactic, lol

I understand wanting to milk every cent from launch consumers, but I hope that sometime in January or February older games get a big price drop. The XBox 360 version of Mass Effect 3 has been $15 on amazon.com.

Seeing the price disparity, Batman and Mass Effect 3 at $59.99 just seems dumb even if you don't own the other systems. They would have been more successful launching at $29.99 and the price points could be justified by the fact that they are "late" ports. Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed I understand though, they were just released.

But we're paying for the best versions!!

I thought this as well at first, but after awhile the frame rate dips really started to affect my enjoyment of the game.

I loved the Gamepad implementation but I felt like every fight was happening in slow motion.

Still love the game just prefereed the 360 version thanks to the more solid framerate.

I had the opposite happen. It was jarring in the beginning but now I barely notice it. It certainly isn't big of enough issue to avoid it if you have a wii u and like Batman. Gamepad controls have been really enjoyable too especially since I don't need to use the godawful x360 dpad to select gadgets.

Do we know when the eShop updates in EU?

Normally also on Thursday. But today (11th of December) I already got the press release about upcoming Nintendo downloads, but it says that the items will be released in the coming days. Wii U only lists the Rayman demo.

Forgot to mention how awesome the mixing of sound from the console and sound from the gamepad is. It creates such a cool sound stage, like the music in the Mii creator, especially if you have a home theater.

I dont believe any wiiu games or software are compatible with the Classic controller. Only Wii games for BC.

And only the WiiU Pro controller is compatible with wiiu games. But I believe there is a 3rd party controller, that isnt out yet, that is supposed to be compatible as both controllers.
