After my trial, I wouldn't miss them.
Bulletins don't actually address points of interest, I'm not sure why HaloGAF finds itself interested in them.

Someone getting something for free when I bought it is not okay.

Grim, please. The Crimson map pack's are free for anyone who played before the 20th until December 18th. As an LE owner, I specifically bought the LE for the map pack access and the early access to specializations. Seeing the the specialization access was basically revoked, and now the first map pack is free ("for a limited time!"), to me I spent that extra $35 on a booklet and some avatar codes.
It might not be 343i's fault, however it's complete and total bullshit either way. Had I known the majority of the content I PAYED for is now FREE, I would've never ordered the LE to begin with. People are pissed, and they have every fucking right to be.
We are the bulletins.
But people are being cheated and this wasn't an act of good customer service, it was clearly a fuck up.

-Halo 4 marketing has been a blunder since before it was announced. Remember E3 2011 when MS accidentally leaked CEA and Halo 4? Yep.
-Ryan Payton's LinkedIn or something saying that he is no longer working at 343.
-The next bit of Halo 4 news after E3 we get is at HaloFest. Watching the Halo 4 panel, the first half is largely about what it is like to work at 343. And they can't really answer a bunch of questions about the game. Why have the panel then?
-A video about working at 343 comes out even after the Halo 4 panel.
-David used to be a content producer before he was a Spartan Ops designer. Was his position ever filled, given the lack and inconsistency of content?
-We now find out that one of the sandbox designers left in January 2012.
Take what you will about the state of the studio from there.
Also, once finals are over, expect a large quantity of analysis posts from me. I have a loooong post on sandboxes in all of the games that I've stowed away for another date. I have a bunch of notes on the marketing. I have another one on how you could combine all of the current Halo enemies in interesting combinations.

It was a fuck up that they don't seem to be able to easily reverse. So what do they do?
In this case they get behind it and guarantee access to the maps for any of their launch folks til the 18th, when we can only assume some fix will be put in, and possibly additional steps taken.
Of all possible responses this isn't really a bad one.

I'm entitled to know that there are alternate methods from the distributors (MS as opposed to 343) of getting the maps that don't involve any money (or less money) surely, right? Had I known a few months ago that I could just try before I buy, I would have been far less likely to drop the cash on maps, especially seeing how they all cause problems for me to play on with my bro.
Framerate is so bad playing single player... I can't even imagine playing these maps split screen.

Communicate. Own it. Don't pretend it was a move to benefit "customers". I've been really damn reasonable and done plenty of 343 defense, but this pushes it over for me. Communication is needed. I'm more bothered at that and what seems to be lying on Microsoft's part than I am the money part.
And you're trying to defend a terrible $99 package.
So you think its cool that i paid 2000 points in order to get a "saving" only for people who didn't care enough to support the developer to get the first pack for free?

I have no idea whether a refund is in the cards or not, but would you think a fuckup that gave others a week to play those maps, and only that week, and that takes nothing from your experience, would entitle you to a refund?
If yes, thats fine. I'd disagree but you're more than entitled to that view.
For the record I paid 800 points for the map pack and I don't know why I should be upset.
According to the source, people who didn't pay only get the use of those maps through the 18th.
If they got to keep the maps without paying for them? Hell yes, refunds would be necessary.
I just feel like it was a mess up because they didn't announce it prior.

That being said, I was too lazy and forgot to purchase the season pass so the fire some of you are feeling is a little lost on me and I can't empathize but I definitely sympathize with the thought of being cheated out of some money. But it looks like regardless of intent it is being fixed.

Yup. When they were talking about it in the context of it being a technical error, I was okay with the situation (and even posted to that effect.). Them trying to weasel their way out of it disgusts me, though.
The wording on that is vague at best. It's PR talk. If and when the talk of it being a trial turns out to be the case, then it'll be a different story. For now, nothing in the wording of that post leads me to believe that they'll be revoking access to anyone. Nor should they - they fucked up and people took advantage. Own up to it. Make it right to the people that got screwed over by paying rather than screwing over the people who didn't know any better and got 'em for free.

It's actually horrific. Shatter is easily the worst of any map I've played on before. Wait, no. There was a Bungle Pro map that put a load of fusion coils on Orbital. That was the slowest map of all time.
Splitscreen on Haven is just that; A Haven.

Somehow I doubt they'll be able to track who paid for it and who didn't. (And then magically remove the files from the hard drive). Give me a break.
Not to mention they lied and just made up this bullshit PR statement to save face.
By saying the LE had more than just maps.
Sure it had the full game (phew) but that was it. There's no value in any of the other things.

On a positive note, played six games of BTB tonight, DLC maps were on the voting screen all six times.
There are those that said this day would never come, Halo finally properly adds DLC to matchmaking like every of AAA MP game has been doing for the past 5 years

The problem with this topic is half the people are acting like it's free forever and others who are acting like it's a trial. It sounds like a trial but it's late so it'll be tomorrow until we hear the official word out of Microsoft or 343.
Also if it's free for keeps, don't people think that either Microsoft or 343 would do something for LE and Season Pass owners? I doubt they'd just outright screw customers like this when it would be so easy to just do something to make it all work out.

It didn't? News to me. I liked the extras. Bought it mainly for the maps, but not only for them. If that had been my only reason I'd have gone standalone + map pass.
People seem to think everything I say is defending 343, nowhere here is that happening. My message was wait and see what MS does for us when the press gets this. Not "THIS IS GUD GUISE!"
I don't think buyers remorse is really "major problems." Let's be real. Goods in the real world go on sale suddenly and randomly throughout the lifespan of the product. You purchased an item that had value, in your eyes, and at the time was worth the price that you paid.
You can be livid because the maps you downloaded have framerate issues, lack symmetry, are swamped with endless ghosts, etc., but you still paid for something you thought was worth the price at the time.

If they can't they should just eat it, and provide refunds.
But the fact that they provided a date and time makes me think that a solution is in the works.
I suspect their solution is a patch that makes it so nobody else can download the maps for free from that point on, not a revoking of current access. The PR shitstorm headed their way in either case is gonna be pretty funny.
Situation 1: People who bought the pass and standalone pack are pissed and demand refunds, causing a bunch of stories to pop up in the press.
Situation 2: People who have their access revoked without warning are furious and cause a bunch of stories to pop up in the press.
