You did waste that exp :(

Also, first round of edits to the OP are up. Downplayed the necessity for that list of monsters, added stuff about friends, and tried to better explain some of the game mechanics. Anything missing you guys would still find helpful? Early teambuilding tips?

Looks good. I'd include the earlier forms of the healers and ADK as some people may not know they can evolve. If possible, you could elaborate on Metal Dragons. There was a good post earlier that you could summarize.

Reposting a new addition to the OP for those of you needing early team advice:
Team Building 101

So you're sitting there getting blown up by a dumb Flammie in one of the early dungeons and you're like "what the hell?" Well, with one look at your team roster, no wonder you're getting slammed! Early on, it's difficult to scrounge up a skeleton crew much less a super kickass army, but I did well cobbling the following team together:
Your starter dragon. There's a reason why they gave him to you for free, you know! Its leader skill also incentivizes you adding monsters of the same element to your team, so do that.
Your rare pull. Unless you got a super rare one and your team cost isn't high enough to equip it lol
An attack/technique monster: Gotta get that damage in! Try to have it match the element of your leader.
A healer. If you didn't get one of the five sisters from the rare machine, they also drop rarely as the bosses of some of the early dungeons. The 2* form of Carbuncles, as creepy as they look, also do in a pinch.
A 2* blob monster. All of them have orb changing skills when evolved to 2*, and like Carbuncles, require relatively easy to acquire materials to evolve.

If you get something better out of the Pal or Rare machine, obviously swap those in where appropriate. Once you reach harder dungeons, you'll need to start specializing to deal with the specific hazards within. What strategy you want to prepare for those depends both on what monsters you currently own and what you're willing to put up with to fill holes in your team. Post your troubles in the thread and we'll try to help you out.

For reference, my team up to somewhere early into 3* was Neptune (leader), Big Woodsie, Topaz Carbuncle, Marine Goblin, and a fifth monster that I'm blanking on, but obviously not important enough to remember.

Eventually I replaced Marine Rider with a Black Fighter which I evolved into Black Knight, and got a bit lucky with the Pal Machine and subbed in Naga for the carbuncle and added a Dragon Fruit. After I got enough material to evolve my fire starter to stage 3 he got a rotating spot on my team depending on which dungeon I was tackling.

Those Dragon seeds are weird with their cutesy eyes and their blushing cheeks and - oh god I feel so guilty for feeding them to my Carbunkle just to save space in my inventory.

NOOO!!! :(

Of course the game asks if you're sure you want to exit the dungeon when you say "no thanks", but when you accidentally click "yes, spend my magic stone so I can continue on this boss I can't' defeat!" the game just fucking does it, no questions asked :(

Fell victim to that earlier, raging.

Personally, I think its not even worth it to use dragon seeds, or even any evo material monsters (masks, lits, etc) for power-up fusions. They give a small amount of XP. If I don't need em, I just sell them.

Don't forget that the monetary costs for power-up fusions is dependent on both the level of the base monster AND how many monsters you slot in. If you're just fusing those evo materials to your monsters, in the long run, you're likely to be bleeding money.

Can someone explain to me the friend system? Is there a limit to how often you can bring a dude in your party? Seems random to me o_o

It's random, but the closer in rank they are to you (and maybe how recently they've signed on?) increases the chances they'll appear.

Pal points only apply the first time each day you bring them, of course.

Er, so how is the ruby dragon event being done by some people? Is it one of the dungeons in the "special" dungeon section? I don't see anything too obvious, so perhaps it's just not available for me?

Its under special dungeons but its only available for one hour three times a day i.e. there are three one hour slots where its available, each time slot begins on the hour. Your "grouping" is based on your friend code (as seen on the previous page or the facebook group)

Got to Volcano of Vulcan and my starters are being resisted. Had to pull the dragon from the leader slot. :(

Scratched past the 3rd round with heals from Cupid/Carbuncle, and damage from random person's Hades.

Also, don't take this personally, but are you one of those people who haven't discovered you can shift the orb more than one space at a time? You ought to be comfortable making 3 combos or higher at that point in the game. Here's another thing stolen from SA with some common ways to "solve" certain gem configurations:
y9IvO.png

That helped a bunch, now i'm getting a minimum of a combo per turn and making some progress again.

Remember that when you move a gem into another, the one that is moved takes the previous ones spot. Using this, and moving quick enough you can move a gem all the way across the board. I have made 5 row combos by moving 2-3 gems so they all line up. usually it involves making circles when moving your gem.

It helps a ton! Practice on the lower levels. Sounds stupid ... but it's helped me anyways.

I got a few 5* in the first couple of tries. just not good ones.... The one I ended up using (Ancient Dragon Knight) I had seen previously and got greedy, tried to re-roll. I ended up re-rolling another 20 or so times just to get him again!

Okay... got a green dragon knight, 4 star.

I'll stick with this, sick of playing the tutorial.

hmmm so how do yall manage your inventory without expanding the slots? do you just fuse away all the stuff you don't care about?
Pretty much, but I never fuse away useful stuff like Evo Material and King Metal Dragons that I don't have anything useful to feed to yet. When my box starts filling up with those it means it's time to upgrade its size.

I use xCobalt's advice. Or at least how he is doing it. I try to keep my box amount near my rank. So every 5 or so ranks I spend a gem to get more boxes. Assuming I have gems. which I do not right now.

Cosmos what do you mean by feed nothing but +RCV to ameretsu, Do you mean +1 of the same element or something else.

Does feeding something with RCV to a healer type effect its bonus stats ?

Also is there any news on if we will get the Final Fantasy stuff ?

Yeah, this confuses me. I thought you couldn't "mess up" stats, so this leads to me believe that's NOT true.

I dont mean feeding a monster with high RCV to Ammy. Certain monsters will drop with a + next to their egg, and when they hatch will have one of either boosted HP, attack, or recovery. You can check which stat is boosted on the info screen. Fusing a + monster will transfer its bonuses over. The maximum stat bonus is 99.

Since Amaterasu Ookami's leader skill heals you every turn based on her RCV stat, you want to feed her as much +RCV fodder as possible to maximize how much she heals you for.

Similarly, you want to try to feed a monster like Neptune or Echidna as much +ATK as possible, since their skills deal damage based on their ATK stats.

Ammy's diet is probably the closest thing you get to 'messing up'; Siren the Enchantress's Rondo of Healing also depends on her RCV but nobody really cares if you mess up her diet.

I was under the impression the +1 is type specific, I'm sure I fed my cupid a +1 White Knight and the plus moved from atk to rcv.

Maybe I wasn't paying attention though, but would a white knight have +rcv ? or is it random ?

It's random. Somebody in this thread got an Ammy out of the rare machine that started with +1 ATK, which is kinda unfortunate but what can you do!

I feel like I've got extremely lucky. I got 2 - 5 stars (one on ipad, other on iphone) after only a few re rolls each. Not sure if they're any good but I can't play that tutorial again.

So is there really no way to restore an account for this game? What if someone goes and buys $50 worth of eggs and gets a new phone or has to restore an OS?

I'd much rather play one account on 2 devices.

Use iFunbox. Just copy all the files from the document folder. I was playing on both my ipad and iphone, but I wanted to switch the accounts because I play more on the iPad, but the iPhone had the nice Viper Orochi. iFunbox did the trick.

Yeah. So I played a bit more and now I'm struggling. I'm on to the dungeon of light and I can't seem to put together a decent team for anything.

My rare was Thor, light god. He's good but doesn't one hit stuff anymore. I don't have enough money to fusion too much stuff. My first guy was a fire guy and I levelled him to 6 but he still doesn't do too much. I've tried all fire, mix light and fire, etc. The only times I succeed is when I'm lucky and get a high level support guy. My second rare pull was a green 3 star. He's pretty decent but team still not strong enough. I have to struggle to win.

Reroll for a better god? Something with more early synergy? I dunno.

For Android you just need to get a file manager to copy the data048.bin not sure if you can do this on Iphone though.

You should try and hire a helper who is level 20-30 that will work for you on the current element. Some of those early missions are super tough unless you can crush damage or heal a lot.

Oh cool. I got a Metal Dragon earlier today. I guess it's worth something to me! :)

If anyone needs help, add me. 398,038,297

I'm using Freyja as my leader. 1.5x Wood and damage and healing(?). With a good match and combo, it's easy to deal 2.5k+ which is REALLY helpful on these early dungeons.

How difficult are these dungeons, at what rank would you suggest to do them ?

I've tried the easiest bonus dungeon available and got stomped. What I read yesterday was something about waiting until you have a decent team. Your stamina is likely better spent elsewhere.

Man I hate the whole stamina thing. [I understand why it's there] Just restricts my fun! I find myself doing any dungeon that is 1/2 stamina. even if it's the lowest one. This way I can go through my whole friends list and get the +10 PAL points, and I get lots of egg drops.

Metal dragon dungeons can be done early on. The enemies have between 5-25 hp but you'll be only doing 1 damage to them. Just gotta make sure you know how to effectively combo orbs.

Managed to do it as rank 12 yesterday. Met 1 king metal dragon and the rest were just the normal ones. Probably wouldn't have done it, if there were more higher staged metal dragons. King gave me some trouble, mainly because of it's massive HP and I believe they attacked every turn aswell.

I'd say go for it, if you're managing the 2nd elemental dungeons just fine and when you're near a rank up, so you don't waste the stamina. Also bring a good helper.

I've found the stamina system has conditioned me to check my phone every two hours or so to see if I have enough stamina to attempt a dungeon run. Waist deep into the PAD ecosystem.

I play on my iPad. I only have wifi, and I usually leave it at home. I could tether it to my phone while at work, but that seems a little ... obsessive.

*makes note on his phone to bring iPad to work tomorrow*

lol

Also, AOE attacks are key to getting through the metallic dragon dungeons. When you can only hit for 1 damage per dragon being able to spread that around will double or triple your damage output on them. Poison or Third Eye will OHKO any given mob of them.
