NHL Lockout With Your Cock Out |OT|

Fucking LOL

Maybe the PA should have used the months they refused to negotiate to get it right.

I agree. I'm not talking about what has happened. We're in this situation now, though, and it doesn't make much difference when it gets done if we're talking a matter of a weekend. If it has to be slow to make sure nothing blows up, let it be slow and drift into Sunday. Just get it done in the end.

Lots of speculation tonight about a possible deal. But they are still working and its too early to tell.

My sources telling me, #NHL good to go. Let's get it on boys! #NYR

Yes! Once the former NFL QBs start spreadin the news, you know it's true.

NHL-NHLPA talks still ongoing. Slow progress. Breaks now and then for caucusing. Disregard people who say deal has been reached already.

I like the people saying a deal has been reached as if once they reach a deal they'll continue to sit in a negotiating room and not, you know, hold a press conference.

NHL deputy commish Bill Daly email to Post-Dispatch seconds ago: "It’s been a long day already and meetings are continuing.... (1/2)

Daly contd "Dialogue has been good & there has been a healthy give & take. We resolved some open issues but still have a number to go” (2/2)

We expect an update soon on NHL CBA talks.

Looking more and more that deal will be done tomorrow. So much progress has been made today and tonight.

If by some chance it all blows up at this point it will be the sweetest victory ever for team NOPE.

That's about the only positive news for them right now.

Ok let's give the nope some hope

@howardeskin

Starting to hear strong word that #NHL could cancel season in next 24 to 48 hours. Gary Bettman thinks too many issues to put together deal

Hockey would be back. My Canucks would be on the ice. And I wouldn't have wasted any energy getting my hopes up and dashed each time there were developments. I think you've lost perspective.

Typical of a Hoper.

What's "hockey"? This is about labour relations!

The tweets, today more than any other day thus far, have been so dramatically all over the fucking place. It's at a point where I feel like laughing more than crying. What a circus.

God damn I can't wait to see Nash in Ranger blue.

Marathon in Manhattan continues. Told lots of caucusing (good word) and the bargaining process remains strong.

.

Michael Russo ‏@Russostrib

Caucusing again in New York. Bill Daly says progress remains slow but steady. Still going #nhl #nhlpa

This "play by play" is so painful yet I can't help but look at twitter every now and then.

I think that when the season starts the OT should be "NHL January 2013 |OT| -- Not As Big As The PBA, But We Still Love It"

Smiley90

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.
If we were to win a Cup after a shortened season I'd feel conflicted.

For about two seconds.

yeah, pretty much.

I'd only feel bad if a team that normally wouldn't make the playoffs won (say, the Leafs), because then you could make the "they wouldn't have made the playoffs if the season was 82 games long) argument. Playoffs are playoffs, although "they would've suffered from lack of depth in the playoffs after a long season" is still an argument, but I'd be willing to ignore that.

Meh. Both players and owners agree to the length of the season, so nobody should feel like it's a tainted Cup win, regardless of who wins.

Aaron Ward:

"People will have a hard time understanding why pension is a sticking point for a bunch of millionaires, but it's not about the millionaires, it's about the guys making the minimum..."

The minimum NHL player salary in 2005-06 and 2006-07 will be $450,000; $475,000 in 2007-08 and 2008-09; $500,000 in 2009-10 and 2010-11, and $525,000 in 2011-12 (to the extent the CBA is extended by the Union).

So unless you're one and done (in which case you're not really an NHLer anyway), you're a millionaire.

GENIUS!

Uh are you considered a millionaire when you get a part of that minimum salary taxed bringing you under a million? Or do they also consider the property you own?

Yeah, the guys that are still making over 10 times what the average person earns....

Yeah, it's ridiculous. Fine, pension is important to you, just stop trying to sell people that the importance of any NHLers pension compares in any way to the average person.
