No Gaijin is translated as Foreigner. He says fucking and stupid additionally.
*facepalm*

Hitler's actually a pretty bad painter. If Da Vinci started the Holocaust I might be okay with it
This made me laugh way more than it should.kotaku: hideki kamiya takes over japan in bloodless coup
Because foreigners are the ones trolling him all the time. It was a call to that group of people not a racist comment. Even so, plenty of people ar egiving him enough reasons to be a racist, like those dead threats he received when the Bayo 2 announcement.
Kamiya has been a badass his whole life. Why should he slow down now?
And that allows him to tell people to fuck off how?
Kamiya is a moron, and a douchebag. Yes he makes good games, but he is seriously an arrogant prick. Why do you guys accept this so happily?
Saying someone is a stupid fucking idiot foreigner is racist there is no reason to use the word foreigner in that phrase. They were rude and they were foreign.
Hitler was a pretty sweet painter, surely that excuses the holocaust right? and yeah I just got all Godwin up in this bitch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "gwai lo" always offensive (outside of joke usage)? There's really no way to use it in a positive light, right?
That's not necessarily the case with "gaijin" 外人.
From that article:
My own sense is that some foreign residents of Japan who take offense at any use of the term ‘gaijin’ belong to a well-established phenomenon of foreigners (usually white men) who want to become completely Japanese (culturally, biologically, socially)—
In my experience, this is quite often the truth.
Does it matter if he said it in a tweet that was basically respectfully saying goodnight to all english speaking readers except "some" fucking stupid foreigners or w/e?
Also am I on everyone's ignore list or something?
lol
A common word in my household... lol
That's exactly what it is though. Tons of English speaking people intentionally try to get a rise out of him when crap blogs like Kotaku run something on him because they know he responds to everything.
I can't tell if you're answering his question or responding to his comment as a whole
He could have said stupid fucking idiots. He started using "foreigners' all by himself.
And that allows him to tell people to fuck off how?
If he's tired of people asking him for a PC port, he could choose not to reply. Instead he disregarded what the first guy said with a "whatever", and told the second guy to fuck off.
Yeah, it isn't his job to port games to PC. He doesn't care if someone does it or not. He already said he doesn't care about it. He's still a dick for treating people that way.
I really don't know how to say it better?*facepalm*
I think the point is that when you stick "fucking stupid idiot" or whatever exactly he said in front of the word foreigner, it becomes a slur.
Kind of like calling someone black isn't a slur. But calling them a stupid fucking idiot black person is.
Stupid fucking idiots, sounds good as well. I'm not going to use foreigners. Remember he explicitly said this in Japanese. Is that not an accurate description of Kotaku?
I understand, but responding the way he did makes he sound like an awful person. Maybe he was honestly tired, that means he should have gone to bed for the night, not start cursing at everyone who asked him for a port.He was getting a ton of tweets along those lines that night and he had already responded to those same questions several times. I'm not necessarily justifying it, but if you read his twitter for ten minutes, you'll see that the fastest way to annoy him is to send him repeat questions, and he expects people to at least look through his feed a little before they tweet him.
Is that not an accurate description of Kotaku?
外国人 (gaikokujin) - it's more polite. But gaijin isn't inherently racist, either. As with any other word, intent matters. Is there a less "racist" word in Japanese for non-Japanese speaking people? I'm honestly curious.
I really don't understand the outrage here.
He said some stupid fucking idiot foreigners. Have you seen the tweets this man gets? I don't understand why the term "foreigners" gets people so heated, but there are stupid fucking idiots who send him messages constantly.
Would it have been better if he said "stupid fucking non-japanese people?"
Is there a less "racist" word in Japanese for non-Japanese speaking people? I'm honestly curious.
from wikiThe uncontroversial,[12] if slightly formal, gaikokujin (外国人?, foreign-country person), is commonly used instead.[12] However, even gaikokujin is avoided by some people, who might use the honorific form gaikoku no kata (外国の方?, gentleman/gentlewoman of a foreign country) instead. Similarly, some people might not use gaisha (foreign car), but use gaikoku no kuruma (foreign countries cars) if they receive interviews and have to speak in front of TV cameras.
He means gaijin, which is a derogatory term.
I really don't know how to say it better?
I'm not taking issue with the word Gaijin, it's the words he sticks in front of it.
That pic... that Twitter handle... that "Japanese correspondent" title...
This is great. Fucking video games journalism, man.
Eh, both parties look like jackasses to me. Most people here will be on Kamiya's side mainly because everyone hates Kotaku (I don't like it either though)
People tend to get offended by people who come off as confrontational. Especially to their fanbaseThe fact that there are so many people seem apparently seem so... I don't know the word... "bothered", perhaps?... that he is not interested in PC gaming is mind-boggling.
Especially considering the original tweet he didn't actually disparaging PC at all, he just said he's disinterested in it. It's incredible to think so many people think this as offensive.
