Retro it's your turn at E3 to wow us all

You people sure took your time to give us unlucky non following nd some shoots of Xenew....
OMG it's exactly like when they first showed Monado :
Some people walking in hugeass environment and battles.
Heck I even remember how disappointed I was that it wasn't like Baten Kaitos but in full 3D, I was a moron back for that alone.
Man and this looks like....
I have no words.
Actually I need plenty of towels now...
I can't stop my mouth from watering.
Square can die in a fire.

Obviously a great little presentation, but let's assess the situation again.

Nintendo is still kind of fucked for most of 2013. The U isn't selling well at all, and it's only going to get worse til the fall, when it will probably rebound. Probably.

My thoughts on today's news though:

Virtual Console - It should have been there at launch, like it was with the Wii 6 years ago, but now we've got to wait a few more months? Really? and even when it shows up you're going to milk those releases out over years, AGAIN? Oh, and we're only getting NES and SNES when this finally starts? lol you've got to be kidding me. Ridiculous. At this rate we'll be seeing Gamecube games in 2015.

New 3D Mario and Mario Kart in the works - obvious news is obvious, but obviously we'll all be excited to see them in action at E3. I think Mario Kart will be out this fall.

Yoshi's Epic Yarn - I've wanted a TRUE SEQUEL to Yoshi's Island for the past 15+ years, but I have my doubts this is going to be it. I hope for the love of god that this is more Yoshi's Island, and less Yoshi's Story, but for now it looks like more Yoshi's Story. :(

Zelda in the works - Cool. Love the idea of co-op in a Zelda game. Probably won't see this in action til 2014.

Wind Waker remake this fall - FUCK YES! This looked so sweet. Loved the visuals. Love the fact that they'll probably fix the stupid treasure hunt collectathon. Should be one of the more exciting things this fall for me.

Don't care about Xenolbade, so whatevs.

Iwata really trolled us.

"Let's talk about Miiverse and system updates. Now, slowly rereleasing Virtual Console titles. Now, games you already know about. Hmm, but what if I said Mario and Mario Kart at E3? Oh? You already expected those? Well then... YoshiSMTxFEWindWakerHDZeldaWiiUdetailsXenobladesequel, alright."

Yeah, he said this was the last topic so I almost clicked away. Then they showed Zelda. And after that Xenoblade 2.

And that's we like him

Well that was a roller coaster ride. Started off slow, then bam. I could have done without the miiverse explanation, but this direct delivered so it's fine.
If the software is being designed to recognize the fact you own the Wii version of the software of a eshop release, having the download available for free would have been ideal. At least the discount price is pretty small. I'm not surprised about the slow releases. Nintendo had shown they want perfect emulation, so they are probably recoding each game individually.

As for the game talk. Wonderful 101 looked great. I loved the cheesy voice acting. I'll definitely be getting that game. Not surprised Bayonetta 2 wasn't shown, considering when it was first announced, and its dead status prior. New Mario and Mario Kart being made comes as no surprise.

For the new game announcements. Not surprised to see a new Wii Party game. The Wii one was solid with plenty of modes and some fun mini-games. Hopefully this one will include multiple board designs to choose from. Yoshi was of course spoiled for us already. The yarn art style suits Yoshi quite well. I can't really comment on the gameplay with what little was shown.

That SMT x Fire Emblem came out of no where. I was not expecting that at all. As a big fan of both series, I look forward to see what kind of game comes from it. The new RPG from Monilith blew me away. Hopefully this game shows up at E3 this year. The Zelda talk was interesting, but I'll save my excitement for a new Zelda game once I see it. As for Wind Waker HD, if the gameplay tweaking is significant enough, I will definitely double dip. I also hope the gamepad will be able to act as a tingle tuner, since I never tried the feature from the gamecube version.

Overall. Hype justified. Nintendo Direct delivered.

Regarding Zelda U.. I really want a totally new art style for this game. I think that was what made WW so refreshing was the 180 in art direction. I want the same kind of redefinition of art in the new Zelda, especially now that we are in the Nintendo HD era. Also, if they add something like multiplayer I am ok with that, as long as it does not take away from the single player experience. I do not want to feel like I am missing out on something because I am playing the game as a single player. Finally, I really want them to utilize the controller screen with some innovative game play elements that could not have been done with out it.

Neither. That second pic was using tweaked Twilight Princess assets, made strictly for that one demo. The next Zelda will be its own thing and have its own style.

I hope it skews more toward Twilight Princess than Skyward Sword/Wind Waker though. They don't need the crutch of overly-stylized graphics anymore. Not to say you can't have both. But still- more dark, less paint.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
I was ready to strangle Iwata through my screen for explaining how Miiverse works to Wii U owners watching the stream.

Then The Wonderful 101 was given a new trailer and I was like "yay I got what I wanted".

Then a Bayonetta 2 dev diary which was a welcome cherry on top.

Then a whole bunch of shit happened that I don't remember but I sure am sticky.

Jist...just...Nintendo is the best. What a start of the year for them. Even if it's just updates to the games they announced, and NOT including all we'll see from the new 3D Mario, Smash Bros. and Mario Kart, they'd be having an incredible E3.

Add in Retro's new game and some new out-of-left-field collaborations with other developers, and their conference will be as exciting to watch as Sony's and Microsoft's.

I love this industry.

i think yoshi is probably their worst-kept secret. if there's one game they show, i'm thinking it's that. if they show off more games we know of, we'll likely get a look at bayonetta 2 and maybe ead tokyo's new thing. i think the rest of the announcements (mario kart, retro's-thing-assuming-it-isn't-yoshi), they'll save for e3

i think in 2014 we'll see announcements for animal crossing, zelda, and whatever monolithsoft's been working on.

Well if they manage to announce a Metroid and F-Zero (either of which could somehow be the Retro project) at E3 then they've won in this biased grumpy bastards eyes. =D
Right now, F-Zero is dead
I mean, Iwata was like.. WTF? People want F-Zero? Why? just a couple months ago
so no, not a chance.

I'm gonna be the first one to come out and say that... Retro must be in problems, Nintendo threw out literally everything they had up their sleeves, and even then they didn't mention them at all, maybe they needed a bigger team for whatever they are developing and that's what was holding them on?

If MS and Sony reveal their next consoles at E3,
Nintendo's last chance to be in the spotlight is Retro's game so I'm sure they'll save it till then

This Nintendo Direct only reinforces my idea that the best time to get a Wii U will probably be around late 2014 (When most of the titles announced in this ND will have been released or close to being released)

Only thing I'm kinda bumbed out about is VC thing regarding old purchased stuff, I spent my Wii life on a NTSC console now I'm on a PAL Wii U so my entire VC collection is 'worthless' stuck on that console lol. :(

Oh well, I'll rebuy the good stuff again I'm sure. You got me by the balls Nintendo, forever.

I feel like nintendo is pulling a Sony here.... and annoucing a bunch of games that would come out for quite awhile.

(See: FF:Versus, Last Guardian, among others)

Not sure if I'm happy that the new (Xeno-ish?) game appears to be online. I'd prefer to not have to track down 2-3 other people just to fight something (and then have to split the gear drops?)

FFWWHD does not really look all that "improved". I don't think the game aged that badly to begin with, so it is kind of a odd choice. Perhaps they are planning to upgrade Majoras mask on the 3DS to pair with OOT.

The other stuff was already rumored (basically confirmed) in development. It is the main reason there were NO wii games for the past 2 years.

I think my favorite part was hearing that they're going for a more open and less linear approach for the next Zelda. The original one was like that, where you go pretty much anywhere from the start and could enter the dungeons in a different order if you really wanted. It also sounds like there will be some online elements involving Miiverse, which hopefully means that they will quit it with all the hand-holding throughout the quest, since players will have people online to turn to if they really need the help. I'm curious to see what kind of MMORPG-style elements they'll add if any.

Well, if you take that logic and run with it the best time to buy a Wii U is like 2018, because by then even more amazing games will be released for it.

Hell, why not just wait til 2025 and you can then try and catch up on hundreds of amazing games that have come out from now til then?

Iwata reiterates that there'll be further information concerning future developments on 3DS as well as what third parties are working on at a later time.

Also, Miiverse's usability will be improved sometime next week, along with making it easier to select your Mii's expression when posting to Miiverse. Additionally, in February, there will be a filtering function added to Miiverse to filter between people that have completed the game and those that haven't, and there will also be notifications for when someone follows you.

Way to inflate my argument and over exaggerate it, Nintendo themselves acknowledged the lack of games during the first months of this year, they have announced a nice amount of new games that are coming but as I said, they won't be ready until next year, you can watch the ND again and infer that from Iwata's wording.
My argument also tried to the answer the question "Has Nintendo convinced you to get a Wii U?" To which the answer is yes, but not right now, they've given me reasons but those reasons won't arrive until a later date.

-"Xenoblade 2"
-Yoshi's Land
-Wii U Party
-Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
-Wind Waker HD
-New TW101 Trailer, new Pikmin screens
-Virtual Console (with discounts)
-Bayonetta stuff
-3D Mario, Mario Kart, Smash 4 news @ E3
-Aonuma talking about the Next Console Zelda
-Promise of 3DS/3rd party Nintendo Directs in the future
-Patch talk
-Improving Miiverse

My body was not ready. I underestimated the awesome.

When they said that I seriously felt like someone was reading the GAF threads over the past few months. The one thing everyone agreed upon, is more secrets, less linearity, and more exploration.

Yes please, Wind Waker made me love exploration in a Zelda game, I want more!
