Has the amount of RAM been upgraded? Was it originally 4GB? Now 8GB?
I would love that lol. And Sony will go down in a grand fashion in couple of years.
8GB of DDR3 however..
Durango and Orbis would be like twins separated from birth.

if it was originally 4GB of GDDR5 and they decided to upgrade to 4GB DDR3 + 4GB GDDR5, would devs be pissed at them all over again for splitting the pool?

Ugh nooo, there was some good news in there.Sorry guys, this is wrong .
A touch pad instead of a touch screen would be a big disappointment and a huge waste of space.
Good thing you weren't on those dev meetings eh engineer James?
There is no point really. Just add vita and tablet integration and the touch pad controller is done without pissing off the core base
I dont care about a devkit, give me the ORBIS!
Am i the only person more interested in the controller than the specs?
vgleaks is supposed to have news tomorrow.
Just one more day...

Care to tell me why I should trust you?
Let me guess, you have a friend who knows a friend with a brother who works at amd?

Apparently he has ALL of the information. He just doesn't give any of it out. But he also likes to remind you that he has it, in case you forget.
Nobody cares what you know, if you're never going to share it.

He is only going to post stuff he can be pretty confident in.
The "new account" system already works on PS3, doesnt it? I'm pretty sure that it is possible to have dual PSN login on Resistance 2 coop. I'm not sure if the 2nd player can earn trophies however, but i think dual PSN login should work at least.
Is Sony still looking into that 35nm cell processor? If so that's probably what they'll use in the PS4 or at least PS3 4000
no point any more. cell is dead.Is Sony still looking into that 35nm cell processor? If so that's probably what they'll use in the PS4 or at least PS3 4000
better.
but also a whole lot more power sucking and hot. imo you really wouldn't want one in a console.
its fairly reasonable that bd might be in a dev kit and jag in final. same vendor, probably vaguely similar architecture and all that. sony might have decided to go with jag more recently. 4 bd cores would run 8 threads, emulating a 8 core cpu. etc etc.
Point would of course be to provide PS3 compatibility in PS4, as 8 Jaguar cores have no hope in hell of ever emulating it. It would be interesting if that compute module ends up being a cell in disguise, especially if it would work in PS4 mode as a co-processor as well.no point any more. cell is dead.
Funny how the "insiders" stayed away from this thread so far with the information...
If these specs are true, Sony has not been able to hit the mark, or are reconsidering their stance on "final hardware". The last I heard, in September, the RAM ceiling was raised to 4 GB UMA 192 GB/S. If this holds weight than we have to modify our expectations. Final silicon should ship this month, so we should by that time have a good idea what Sony is gunning for. Once again, its all about the RAM.
Why? Nobody is going to hold it against him if he's wrong. He's not bound to anyone or anything, at least according to previous posts. Being teased gets old after a bit.
Streaming all PS games/demos on Sony products. If Sony is offering backwards compatability through hardware on PS4, why did they acquire gaikai?
Really? What is the CPU in new ps3 slim?no point any more. cell is dead.
This is what happens when there's such an obsession with input gimmicks in this industry. Sony half-assed the sixaxis but that didn't harm anyone in the end. Now they're going all in and we're going to get rear-touch pad v.2. I just hope this time they don't take away the second set of shoulder buttons.
I thougt final silicon wasn't expected until later in the year?I don't think you realize how fluid things are. Sony is wrestling with the amount of RAM they want to put into the machine. They have given developers target specs they are trying to nail. This devkit, sounds like just that, a devkit. It gives us little information on what we should expect out of the final machine.
I've said this before, but final silicon is expected to ship soon, and from that, we will have a semblance of an idea what to expect.
I am just as impatient as the rest of you. VGleaks, hurry your ass up.

Also big and hot.

is it a question between 4 and 8gb or 2 and 4? or are odd numbers like 3.5 in play? are we talking all unified gddr in any case?
8gb gddr5, theres just no way i see that as possible cost wise.
there were some rumors of "summer" I thought. That was on vgleaks Orbis roadmap for one. Thuway has been saying soon though, and Durango beta kits are supposedly pretty final and went out in the past few weeks.
