So if I buy this on PSN next week GCT, I get both the Ps3 version and the vita for 39. Right? It's not the boxed version that this happens with?

They had them in 3 too. Not as many but some. I think they would have been a good fit for instance in the Sly demo that came in the Ratchet HD Collection.
That's right, they sure did. Completely forgot about those. Time to replay so I can remember all the little details I might have forgotten.

There's one issue that I think definitely needs to be addressed.

The guiding arrow is not a permanent toggle. Even if you turn it off, as soon as you use the blue stars or a cutscene triggers or something (I think, can't remember the consistency) it comes back on and you have to toggle it back off again.

I want a permanent toggle. If I don't want the arrow, I'll turn it off. If I want it again, I can turn it back on. But don't switch it back on meaninglessly every once in a while 8l

Otherwise, everything controlled flawlessly and I have no idea what the earlier complaints were about a part of the demo controlling badly. It was all a smooth ride. I didn't die or retry at all.

The demo showed how faithful to the series this is. Omg I'm so happy. THANK YOU SANZARU GAMES

Isn't that what the radar option is for in the options or is that something else? I did turn it off and the arrow dissapeared for a while (even after a cutscene) but at some point it reappeared again.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything

The radar only turns off the minimap iirc.

Where's the hype? Only 6 days left. How about we speculate on how many stages there will be.

My guess is that there will be 8 stages along with 8 ancestors. The "Who is Sly" trailer showed 8 silhouettes, one of them was a female too. That'd be awesome.

...it's been confirmed there are only 5 levels and ancestors.

Sly has a female pirate ancestor. I think it is her. One of the screens showed a pirate ship I think. I think his Egyptian ancestor too as the original teaser site had a pyramid on Sly's desk or something. Not sure if those two have been confirmed or not though.

So i played the demo last night. Can't say i was surprised or impressed. Sanzaru played it very safe with this one (which is understandable since they are working with someone else's IP). It does seems to be a straight hd conversion of Sly 2.

I sort of enjoyed half of the demo: the Sly bits (extremely easy though but it's just the tutorial level anyway) and the Bentley platforming bits. Didn't like the Bentley mini game and the Murray bits though. In other words, i feel the same as i did with Sly 2, which is not surprising. The interface still looks dated and rather ugly too. And i wasn't impressed with the quality of the (non-comic) cut-scenes. Looked a bit rough around the edges and the Sly/Carmelita models look rather ugly. The game itself looks rather nice, but again, i expected a bit more judging by the screenshots i had seen before. The music was great.

When Thieves in time was announced, i guess i hoped for more than this. It feels, at best, like a game from the HD classic remastered series. I can imagine we will have to wade through a lot of fetch x keys/collect photos/mini-game/... quests in between the good stuff. But in the end, that is not Sanzaru's fault because they did faithfully recreate the Sly games that Sucker Punch invented.

In the end though, i'm still curious to try it out and will probably keep my pre-order. I hope that the time travel angle will keep it interesting and varied. I just wish Sanzaru developed something closer to Sly 1 than 2.

Looking forward to seeing that Marty McFly-Lorraine McFly scenario playing out, if you know what I mean. If it's one thing that the Sly games always needed, it was a healthy dose of wincest.

Anyways I played the demo...Sly's section was fun but easy...but Sly is the main draw here so it's good to know that this part is handled well. Bentley controls just as fine...I don't know what to think of that little computer minigame you do but I hope it doesn't get too complicated...funny how simple those things start and then they get totally stupid. Annnnd why is THE Murray so freaking awkward to control? If they wanted to really give you the feel of a loud, slow and clumsy hippo...well they did their job. Either way...I might still buy it and see how it goes!

Is there anyone here who actually enjoys playing as everyone? I do, but I'd like to know if I am alone in saying that I have quite a bit of fun playing as all 3 of the Cooper Gang.

I quite enjoyed playing as Bentley and Murray in Sly 2, but I wasn't all that keen on all the extras that Sly 3 gave.

Also, pre-ordered this on account of I loved Sly 2 and 3 and it's only $39.99, such a good deal. Hopefully it turns out to be great (as I haven't tried the demo). Just for the IP, the price feels worth the entry easily.

I do but I feel like there's more potential than they usually exercise with it.

With 3 different characters that have 3 different strengths, they could really pull off some monumental heist ideas in rather large levels. I'm talking Oceans 11 extravaganza. Maybe they'll reach that now in Sly 4 with the larger environments and power and refined mechanics, but in Sly 2 it was just scratching the tip of the iceberg.

Played the Vita demo last night; holy shit, Sanzaru nailed it. I'll agree that the load times are a pain and the Murray's section is really awkward.

Now I just gotta wait for the soundtrack.

Also, new CGI trailer.

Holy crap that was amazing. If I'm laughing like I was at the end of that video during any point of the game, I'll be satisfied. Sanzaru really outdid themselves.

I'll update the OP with those avatars as soon as I get to my laptop. Thanks ^_^

Played the demo. The Sly part was boring, but I imagine it'll pick up. I actually enjoyed the Bentley part more, it even looked better than the rest of the demo. The Murphy part was a drag, I hope there isn't much of that to deal with.

Overall it seems like it'll be fun, but I can't help but wish someone could've helped them out visually.

If he wasn't so awkward to control and he moved a bit smoother, I'd have no issues with THE MURRAY. Unfortunately that isn't the case but hopefully I can move up to tolerating him!

I think what made the Murray part so bad was you were basically just walking in a line and beating up people. It was so boring. I'm hoping it was because it was just an introduction and the rest of the game livens it up a bit.

Alright, updated OP with new trailer and avatars.

Guess I got to make up discussion topics to the thread doesn't keep falling to the 4th & 5th pages.

Who here doesn't care about the price drop and had planned on shelling out the entire $60 for this game anyway?

I got round to trying the PS3 demo, I was pleasantly surprised as after I didn't enjoy Sly 3 I was afraid this would follow suite. The demo for some reason reminded me more of Sly 2 than 3 which was a good thing as I really enjoyed that game (not as much as Sly 1 but close).

The Sly bits were ok but fairly linear, as its the first level I'm hoping they flesh out his parts more as the game goes on (as I'm sure they will). Still, I enjoyed the mix of easy platforming and lite stealth.

The Bentley bit really surprised me, I've always liked his character but not really playing as him in the past. His bit seemed much more fun than in past games with a nice mix of platforming and a cool twin stick shooter mini game.

I didn't like the Murray bit, it was everything I didn't like about the last couple of Sly games, just mashing attacks until all the enemies were dead.

I'm also really liking the cutscenes and story of the game so far. Nicely presented and pretty funny to boot. I wish the Vita demo was up on the Euro PSN store so I could try that as well to see how that version compares. So far I'm cautiously optimistic for this game.

They should take The Murray and for his sections, just completely ape Batman combat.

No one would complain. It's too funny and awesome, and makes too much sense, to complain about. Obviously it wouldn't be quit as good as the Batman games, but it would be funny. And more importantly, more fun.

Probably not even possible the way enemies attack in Sly games... entertaining thought though.

Actually now I want The Murray as an unlockable character for the combat challenges in the next (PS4) Batman.

I've never had a problem with how Murray plays. If it were up to me, the only thing I would do is make him able to do more than the one-two punch and uppercut. Maybe give a more varied move set, combos and whatnot. Maybe give him a combo meter like Devil May Cry.

For people who've already played the game, is there an unlockable classic Sly skin (eg. PS2-era)? I still prefer how Sly used to look. ;)
