Right. And they held intentionally because the result of a hold in the endzone is a safety, which they were going to give up anyway.

It was no different than intentionally taking a delay of game penalty for yardage or clock management.

It depends on what the rules of enforcing the penalty are. I am not sure if it goes on the ensuing kick or not.

Wound up being a good game except for the ending. I think the refs blew it by not calling Reed offsides on the 2pt conversion and then not calling the hold on Crabtree in the endzone. Really sucks that a bad person like Ray Lewis gets to retire with a SB.

It's only fitting that a season dominated early by a ref lockout would end on such a blatant non-call.

Niners fans have every right to be pissed off. That could have changed the game. If I was the coach, I'd be fearless enough to say that that was a blown non-call. Fuck the fines. The Niners were robbed of a chance to win it.

I'd put an asterisk beside this championship for Baltimore.
Oh come on...

This is how the 49ers tarnish the legacy of Montana and Young. If they had actually showed up to play the game before the power went out in the Superdome, things might have been different.

I just hope to God we won't have to wait another 18 years before we make it back to this thing.

That is my only consolation right now: As long as Harbaugh and Baalke run the ship, we will be contenders for years to come. Colin will only get better. It hurts like hell right now, but I'm already optimistic for next season.

This team will get the sixth ring eventually. I just hope it's soon enough for Frank Gore to be part of it.

Right, but the hold is what let the punter kill more clock. And being as obvious as it was, there's no excuse not to call it.

we could've got a good return and Kaep has the arm to reach the endzone for a hail mary.

it just seemed like the whole game the Refs did not want to call PI...but they called it on us on a number of occasions.

I understand letting them play out there..but be consistent.

that all being said...it was our coaching that did us in....horrible start...then those calls for that 2 pt conversion....as well as the series where we settled for a FG because of the play calls.. I mean call a play to TED GINN???? come on man...fuck....then that last series to end it.

The Ravens blitzed us EVERYTIME on 3rd/4th downs when we were near the goal line tonight.

How the fuck we were not ready for that...or came out in a formation that would put us in the best situation for it.... fucking I don't know...but FUCK GREG ROMAN.

Fakers jumped to the ground on that roughing the kicker before contact was made. Akers is a cheater so...

My team lost. Oh well, such is life.

I was thinking this might just be the last football game I watched, I've grown exceedingly casual over recent years, to almost a non-fan of the sport. As it turns out, I didn't even make it through the first half (which is more than I've watched of the last 2 or 3 Super Bowls). Nice to see that the Niners made it interesting down the stretch (I did watch the last couple of minutes), but they dug themselves too big of a hole early.

I think I'm done.

Where will you put it? In your scrapbook of NFL Champions?

I have no problem with the Ravens winning, but they didn't need to finish on a coward's play. It's like watching Italy in the world cup.

Nevermind the 2 massive holds that San Fran had on their way to the redzone at the end of the game. No one cared, because hey, big gains are happening! (that happened because of holds, but that's besides the point)
