Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time |OT| Sly & the Family’s Tome are Back!

I was watching a stream of this game earlier and I noticed that it was unusually quiet running around the world. Was it like this in the other games? I honestly don't remember, but I feel like there should be at least a little music. Unless its not like this all the time, if that's the case then never mind.

Yes there is music, but depending on where you are it is rather subdued.

How do you get the Vita version if you bought a retail disk?

I keep getting an error message every time I click on disk benefits.

Either they are working on fixing it, or you should update your PS3.

Also, I updated the OP with all the reviews from the review thread. Enjoy.

Game is pure sex so far. Loving it.

It doesn't work yet. They're trying to fix it. It's been about 4 hours since the store update went up and they were aware of the issue.

I feel bad that I can't give Sony my money for this right now, especially with the reasonable price. Just bad timing, and my priorities unfortunately lie elsewhere. Most people are probably getting hot and bothered over March, but Feb has the biggest releases of the season for me.

Just got to the first level, and I have to say, the animation, art, and presentation of this game are all absolutely phenomenal. The small Murray section in the beginning of the game felt a bit... slippery to me, but I quite like it so far.

yeah I'm in the same boat. too bad because I really want it Vita-style for busin'. PS3 is all Ni No Kuni all the time right now.

I've put about an hour into so far, and I'm really liking it so far. The missions seem to be a bit random to me (in the Japan level still), but I may just need to get in the groove of things.

I'm having trouble activated my Vita version right now, too - hopefully it'll be fixed up tomorrow.

Well I did my part to support cross buy. I hope this is the best selling cross buy title yet. I will play it on the vita. I only have time to play outside home.

I'd download it to the Vita first...that PS3 download is going to take a while.

I haven't checked yet, but can't you just download the Vita version seperately via the store since it's all on your account, or do you have to DL to the PS3 then transfer it over?

Same here man, Fire Emblem, Revengeance, Dead Space 3 and this are really all I've been interested in early this year.

I have a question for anyone familiar with cross-buy. So I have a Vita and my friend has the Sly Thieves in Time game. He said I could have the Vita version since I have one he doesn't (he's giving it to me free of charge because were friends and all). Anyways, here's my question.

If I do cross-buy on my friends Sly disc on my PS3 for my Vita, will it under no circumstances mess up his game except just removing the Vita game off the disc? Just making sure since I did it b4 with PSASBR but since it was mine I didn't care. Just want to make sure his game will be 100% safe when I get the Vita game off of it.

He can't give you the vita version. As far as I know the vita version is locked to his psn ID.

Please, where's the fun in that? Do you want that wayfinder to point you towards them as well?

Are there maps that you can get eventually that show where the bottles and treasures are on the map?

Actually....if you have a Vita, you can do just that! Point it at the screen, you'll then be greeted by the location of the treasures in the area, touch the screen and it'll send a waypoint to the TV. Of course I haven't had the chance to try it yet, so i can't walk you through step-by-step, i'm just reciting what was stated pre-release.

You can do it either way. For some reason, my Vita downloads faster than my ps3 (can somebody explain this please?) so I downloade Bentley's hackpack then played that while Sly was downloading on my Vita and other Sly was on my PS3. Still a few hours until PS3 version is done ;_;

He can't give you the vita version. As far as I know the vita version is locked to his psn ID.

Pretty sure his friend could log in with the guy's PSN account and then activate the disc benefit so that it locks to Gin's account rather than the friend's.

So is it bad that I want to buy the physical Vita version of the game as well as the digital PS3 one?

Kinda addicted to owning those adorable little blue cases ( .__.)

Not as bad as me buying two PS3 copies of PlayStation All-Stars on launch day. One was digital while the other was physical. I still question why I got the physical version.

Vita version is about 3.5GB. So yeah, difference between the Vita and PS3 versions is jarring. It's basically night and day. This looks like a whole new game on the PS3. i'm so confused now, I had just memorized part of the 1st hub world

Does anybody know how to use the Vita with the AR server? I can't figure it out.

EDIT:

Just figured it out. Gotta enable it on the PS3, then go to the AR treasures on the Vita version's main menu.

EDIT 2:

So at first I thought this was rather useless since I'd have to keep taking a "picture" everytime I moved. That was until I left he AR screen on the Vita and started wandering around. Low and behold, the screen followed me. While it's not recommended, you could technically use the vita as a second screen. You're not going to see the enemies though.

What do you mean? The content and environments are all laid out exactly the same.

I want to get this game simply for how gorgeous it looks but i haven't finished the trilogy yet. How long is this game and should i finish the first 3 before picking it up?
what say you gaf?

Well did my part and bought the physical Vita version. Plan on buying digital PS3 one next paycheck (^____^)

Let it be known this is all entirely out of love as I haven't even finished Sly 1 yet

The Vita version has barely any textures compared to the PS3 version, it's the adjustment that I'm trying to hurdle over.

Not sure how long this one is, but i finished the last 2 in about 14hrs a piece. Sly 1 was about 12 hrs maybe.

Oh god, I just got to the
Geisha
part. This game is amazing. I like how the loading screens give you a history lesson sometimes.

Textures seem to be the same to me, at least for the environments. You may be thinking of lack of cel-shading on the characters and no self-shadowing on the Vita version. Still looks great, though. May have been less jarring for me going from PS3 to Vita compared to you going from Vita to PS3. I don't know.

Cross buy "disc add-on" feature is GO! put in your PS3 disc, register it to your PSN account, then you're off to the races on free Vita version!

Never said they were, but it's an indicator of sales nonetheless.

Amazon are counted towards NPD data, and have been since November 2007.

Wait really? I honestly didn't know that, damn I'm behind. Thanks for correcting me. I didn't mean to sound rude or condescending either, I do hope the game sells well. The OG trilogy weren't huge sellers either, so hopefully Sly 4 can match their standards.

Yay, cross buy is up. Got my Vita version all ready to go for tonight!
I wish I was at home playing right now. I was having some major nostalgia playing last night. Its been too long!

I'm going to hold out buying Thieves in Time for awhile. If it was $60 I wouldn't have even considered it but at $40 I was really close to buying it yesterday, but already ran my budget dry when I impulse bought my savings for this game on Killzone trilogy like a dumbass.

Anyways, for now I downloaded bentley's hackpack which is pretty fun. I could get behind this idea. iOS kinda content for relatively cheap.

Against my better judgement I just got this from Wal Mart. I figure I have plenty of time still to save up for Bioshock so fuck it I'll give this a whirl. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess.

Whomever said you could only do one mission at a time was wrong. I'm not even past the first episode and I have two missions available from two different characters right now.

How much time would you say you've put into the game so far?

Really hard to tell. I know at one point yesterday I spent around 3 hours in Feudal Japan not only doing missions but collecting all the clue bottles. Japan is the only level which I've actually gotten the clue bottles and opened the safe. Went back once to unlock a Costume Gate with the Jailbird costume.

Stopped hunting clue bottles after beating the second episode (still only missing one) and went to the third, which I actually found to be the longest of the first three episodes.

Ah nice. I was just wanting to make sure it's got a healthy amount of content in it since I'm relatively early on.
