Will hold off the party wagon for an actual announcement
Oh please God no. Squarenix ruins everything they touch. Also, I love Legacy of Kain, but the story is over. Make something original.
What's the worst case scenario here?
I'd be fine with a reboot as long as they kept Michael Bell and Simon Templeman.
The dialogue between them is still some of the greatest in gaming history. The conversation at the pillars about the spinning coin blew my mind when I was 15.
"WOOOOAH! What if it did land on its edge?"

WRITTEN BY THE PEOPLE WHO BROUGHT YOU FINAL FANTASY XIII.
Anyone from Square Enix Japan being involved. What's the worst case scenario here?
I think at this point the eidos franchises are pretty much the only thing keeping SE relevant to me these days.
Even Wii U ?
from: http://legacyofkain.wikia.com/wiki/NosgothKain's past had been changed by the paradox.[56][71][72] In this timeline, Vorador's resurrection had occurred at some point after his demise, and - together - he built a new generation of vampires to attempt the conquest of Nosgoth alongside Kain.[11][30][73][74][75][76] In response, the Sarafan Lord - who was, in actuality, the Dark Entity who had possessed Mortanius, and a leader among the Hylden race - rallied a new incarnation of the Sarafan to impede Kain's ambitions.[54][72] He had been able to enter the Material Realm following the collapse of the Pillars, and waged a decades-long war for Nosgoth against the vampires.[54][77] Two hundred years after the Pillars' collapse, this war came to its conclusion in the battle of Meridian, in which the Sarafan were victorious.
- Purchase blood and souls through microtransactionsF2P iOS/Android?
Agreed. To this day that's still one of my favorite conversations in gaming.
Don't worry, they're working on making them just as irrelevant. Look at the new Tomb Raider.

Help Kain going from place to place by asking people to 'like' your LoK statuses.
For the more hardcore out there, you can pay a minimum of 50 cents to progress from 1 room to another. If you don't have any money, no problem, if you gathered around 1 500 000 points, you can transfer those to clear 1 room.
If your character dies, you'll have to wait 1 week for him to gather back his energy, though if you really want to play quickly you can pay 10$USD to bring it back to life (or if you have 30 000 000 points, you'll be able to do it for free.).
More info to come out soon.
-Your dear Square Enix.
Oh and people "predicted" this when SE put the LOK games on GOG and Steam

what about Obsidian? Weren't they rumored to have or have been working on LOK?
The rumor has been around for quite a while: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=430915&highlight=kain
That's already part of the series.
Did people not play Hitman, or Sleeping Dogs, or Deus Ex, or see Tomb Raider?
What's with the hate? Those are all good to great games, and Tomb Raider looks promising.

Your first and last selections are some of the reasons why people could be nervous. Old IPs brought back and shat on as hard as possible.
Shat on as hard as possible is not an accurate depiction of Hitman and Tomb Raider.
Hitman wasn't a reboot and TR still isn't out and in people's hands, so I struggle to understand these "SE can't do reboots" comments.
Has Square Enix actually done anything like this with one of their Eidos properties?
I can think of some dull AAA games, but not something like a revival into an iOS spin-off.
Next Gen I assume. I do love the IP but SE have not been good at rebooting their franchises and I don't think they will do justice to this either, probably will be really gimped to reach a bigger audience.
