I'd be fine with a reboot as long as they kept Michael Bell and Simon Templeman.

The dialogue between them is still some of the greatest in gaming history. The conversation at the pillars about the spinning coin blew my mind when I was 15.

"WOOOOAH! What if it did land on its edge?"

To this day that's still one of my favorite conversations in gaming.

I think at this point the eidos franchises are pretty much the only thing keeping SE relevant to me these days.

Kain's past had been changed by the paradox.[56][71][72] In this timeline, Vorador's resurrection had occurred at some point after his demise, and - together - he built a new generation of vampires to attempt the conquest of Nosgoth alongside Kain.[11][30][73][74][75][76] In response, the Sarafan Lord - who was, in actuality, the Dark Entity who had possessed Mortanius, and a leader among the Hylden race - rallied a new incarnation of the Sarafan to impede Kain's ambitions.[54][72] He had been able to enter the Material Realm following the collapse of the Pillars, and waged a decades-long war for Nosgoth against the vampires.[54][77] Two hundred years after the Pillars' collapse, this war came to its conclusion in the battle of Meridian, in which the Sarafan were victorious.

Maybe something related to this?

Don't worry, they're working on making them just as irrelevant. Look at the new Tomb Raider.

Well it's ok to me, I never particularly cared for that franchise.

I'm eager to see more of eidos montreal stuff, that team is talented. HR was amazing.

Soul Reaver: Legacy of Kain

-Platform: iOS/Facebook

Share your progress with your friends via facebook!
Help Kain/Raziel going from place to place by asking people to 'like' your LoK statuses.
For the more hardcore out there, you can pay a minimum of 50 cents to progress from 1 room to another. If you don't have any money, no problem, if you gathered around 1 500 000 points, you can spend those to clear 1 room.
If your character dies, you'll have to wait 1 week for him to gather back his energy, though if you really want to play quickly you can pay 10$USD to bring him back to life (or if you have 30 000 000 points, you'll be able to do it for free.).

More info to come out soon.

-Your dear Square Enix.

Has Square Enix actually done anything like this with one of their Eidos properties?

I can think of some dull AAA games, but not something like a revival into an iOS spin-off.

Judging by the title, I'm fearing it'll become a dudebro high fantasy reboot.

It's not my fault, I've been waiting for this too much time, I can't believe it.

Did people not play Hitman, or Sleeping Dogs, or Deus Ex, or see Tomb Raider?

What's with the hate? Those are all good to great games, and Tomb Raider looks promising.

Your first and last selections are some of the reasons why people could be nervous. Old IPs brought back and shat on as hard as possible.

Eh, Tomb Raider looks like everything people dislike about AAA action games right now. Starring Lara Croft. Hitman? Well, I'll let Derrick take it from here.

Edit: Beaten by the man himself!

I've always wanted the original in a fully open world context. A reboot of the original in any form would be very welcome. Has to be Kain though.... pre void Raziel would even be cool.

Next Gen I assume. I do love the IP but SE have not been good at rebooting their franchises and I don't think they will do justice to this either, probably will be really gimped to reach a bigger audience.

Hitman wasn't a reboot and TR still isn't out and in people's hands, so I struggle to understand these "SE can't do reboots" comments.

1. Square talks up the mobile market
2. Square registers a domain for an old, forgotten, IP
3. Most logical conclusion is AAA console title?

smh, people. It's going to be an iPad castle defense game.

I know, let's just say this is a worst, worst, WORST case scenario. :p

I think considering how huge and loved Legacy of Kain is with its story and its recognition for those areas they would probably tread slightly in some regards. Deus Ex was excellently revived and that was always a title that was slightly had to tread on in the same vein. Hitman however was something that I could see them being able to easily manipulate due to kind of genre it was in.

If it does come back then they need to talk to Amy Hennig with consulting the story.
