count me in!

and the OP is biased, he posted a sardinian pic in the OP!

we need more food and monuments pics in here!

We need Dovella in here asap.

Since nobody asked, I'm from Biella, a small town in Piedmont (northern Italy). It's great if you're looking for a relaxing weekend, not that much if you're into nightlife. But going to work with this kind of view in your eyes is amazing, I have to admit it.

Probably one of the worst pic ever, but you get the idea.

Obviously !

When football arrived here in Italy my greatgrandfather soon became a fan of the sport and here in Rome in 1900 there was only one team: Lazio ! (asroma was created by the fascist party in 1927)
He passed on his great love for Lazio to my grandfather, who then passed it on to my father.
So being Romano de Roma, I can only be a Lazio fan :p

Genova gaf repping!

I'm creating a topic for the next elections (ugh) so we can hopefully keep the worst of Italy out of this thread!

That would be much appreciated.

It's not that I want to keep elections talk away from here, especially this time since it's going to be very critical.
But it would help to have a dedicated topic where to talk about it without completely overtaking this all purpose one.

OP gets 3 items of each category, è la legge!! (It's the law!!)
I like to keep things tidy, feel free to post all the songs you want to in the thread.

I'll put some more myself:

Per qualche dollaro in più / For a Few Dollars More Ending scene (Music by Morricone. Watch out massive movie spoilers!!!)
I Nomadi - Noi non ci saremo
Fabrizio De Andrè - Bocca di rosa

Everytime I see posted these types of OT so apologetics, I think of this:

Sorry, restoftheworld-GAF, I haven't find a subbed version.

Johnny Stecchino is one of my favorite movies! I'm lucky enough to have it on VHS (lol). It will go to my grave.

Calabrese represent.

Come on man! At least add gnocchi to the foods in the OP. And some more on southern Italy! South Italy is best Italy. ~_~

Heey! I miei nonni sono di Calabria. (è giusto dire "nonni miei" o devo dire "i miei nonni"?) Calabria è bellissimo. Voglio tornare in l'estate ma è troppo cara.

"I miei nonni" is correct, but it's more correct to say "della Calabria" or "calabresi".
Calabria is a female noun.
In the last sentence, "in estate" is the italian translation for "in the summer", you don't need the article before the season name.

Figure I'll jump in here by association. My family is Italian (from the Lunigiana region), but I'm born and raised in the US. I've recently been going through my grandma's recipes and trying them out. Surprisingly different from the commonly known (in the US) Italian food and so delicious.

My attempt at spinach lasagna with a cream sauce (bechamel), meat sauce (bolgnese), and parmesan.

Not my attempt (though mine wasn't too bad) at testaroli. Simple water and flour pasta with pesto.

And then finally, the BEST way to make coffee, bar none. I love this thing. I've managed to accrue three varying sizes in order to accommodate any number of people.

Thanks!

So, "voglio tornarla in estate ma è troppo cara"?
Would you ever say "nell'estate"?

Totally forgot about calabresi. D'oh. I admit, I googled bellissimo because I forgot how to spell it and then forgot to change the gender. I did remember to write cara, but I really do gotta keep all my genders and adjectives in check.

This looks so good! You're a lucky guy.

You mean the flight or staying there ?
Check this

i think if you book now it's like 400$ for 2 weeks (in july)
4 stars, all inclusive (breakfast, lunch, dinner, beach, swimming pool, tennis court etc)

It's worth checking for italian gaffers too

I lived in Rome for 3 months. It was amazing.

Sandwiches at Lo Zozzone.
Meatball and pasta at Sora Margarita.
Drinks in the Campo de Fiori.
Cappuccino at Sant Eustachio.

Granted, this was 5 years ago (cries).

Vorrei andare di nuovo! (My Italian is really bad, though I took a class about a year ago and my instructor (from Torino) laughed at my Roman accent, because I spoke slower and with so much emphasis).

Like, all of it. But holy crap that's a great deal. I planned on taking linear algebra over the summer instead, which would amount to about $400 after credits and book. What the fuck is wrong with me?

I had planned on visiting my cousin in Milan, then to Rome, and then south to our family in Roccella Ionica and Reggio. Maybe Bianco.

I'm Italian American, which means I'm just American and barely have any knowledge of Italy and have to deal with the horrible nonsense that is Italian American culture where people think they are preserving their homeland's culture but are actually failing miserably.

That being said, I loooove the country and really need to get back into practicing the language. Weirdly, I have a pretty great working knowledge of how the language is set up, how the grammar works and such, but I just have a horrible vocabulary.

Also, Marco Masini is the greatest

I think you didn't know what Zozzone means in italian since you actually ate sandwiches there :)

Well, in my area often you can find some mobile trucks/bar, at night, with diesel engines and dubious quality sandwiches, which are a godsend for hungry people when everything else is closed.
They are usually called "svunch" or "lurido", which is the dialect for dirty.
