Would be nice, bought a few weeks ago the lot on Steam to replay SR1 and 2, and then play Defiance for the first time.

Who would write it though? Amy Hennig is at Naughty Dog now...

Hitman was actually rather excellent. It has been judged way too harshly.

It was judged by franchise standards and failed the test on almost every section. I'll give it points for a smoother control system and graphics but that's like getting 2 questions right on a 30 question exam.

Reboot for next gen ? I am sure it'll be just as good as the older games, I am pretty sure they won't introduce superfluous stuff like quick time events, finishing moves and multiplayer to it at all.

This is my only concern.

Lol, is that right?

I thought it was an excellent, well-polished game.

Get as many of the original team and writers that worked on the game and they'll increase its chances of success and getting well recieved by NeoGAF.

...but imagine if this is a remake of Soul Reaver 1 with it being what the original devs intended it to be?

Well I am sure the next Hitman game will be a better judgement considering they will have the feedback from Absolution with the new team and nothing to hold them back in regards to big spaces thanks to the better hardware of next gen consoles. Time will tell on that front.

Damn. I think I was too young to appreciate how amazing the voice acting and dialogue was in this series.

There are videos floating around on the web (Perhaps on Youtube now?) of the recording sessions, and they had them in the same room, so that it was actually a dialogue between the actors. I really feel like that adds a lot to the quality, and have no idea why more devs don't do it.

They might hire a proven writer. To SE's credit they did put Pratchett on TR. If there's one concern I don't have for that game, it's stupid dialogue.

I'm not convinced they could hire someone as good as Hennig. I mean, how many games are as well written as Uncharted and Legacy of Kain in terms of line-for-line quality? Are there any?

Yea I'm agreeing with the reboot sentiment. The only part that really needs to be nailed is the writing, and I don't know if that's going to happen. However, I am kinda optimistic.

I do have a slight feeling that Square can see the Legacy of Kain as their potential "God of war" series for that kind of game play genre, in combination with older mechanics set in that universe.

The chance of a new Legacy of Kain is great news. How excited I get for it though will depend on who they have making it.

Hope not. LoK is closer to Zelda than God of War. Only similarities really is all the investment of 'real' history.

That's pretty much what Defiance was anyway.

I'd love it if they went back to a Metroidvania structure though.

As long as they kick the world shifting up a notch i'd be fine with a little bit more combat focus. I mean the first Soul Reaver was combat heavy as well.

Probably more like Darksiders.

I would prey for this to be correct, it's still rare to get those kind of games still outside Zelda and that's a market full of untap potential.

Kain voiced by Steve Blum loolololol

Let this be next gen with the original voice actors !!!!!!!!!!!!!! #Believe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care if it continuous the story or if it's a reboot with a new story line.

it ain't legacy of kain without tony jay

):

Might as well reboot if no Tony Jay.

I don't get this, but see it repeated alot.

Yes, it's sad the guy is no longer with us, for sure.

But realisticaly, he is easily replacable. Hell, he wasn't even relevant until Soul Reaver, and has fewer lines considerably than Kain or Raziel in the series.

It's without Templeman and Bell that the series would be fooked. They both made those games something great. So long as they are both in, the dialogue at least is in good hands.

Well, the series was much less relevant before Soul Reaver. Blood Omen is interesting, Soul Reaver is astounding.

But I agree. Jay did a really, really great job, but the series hinges mostly on Templeman and Bell (More Templeman in my opinion).

Derrick, your hatred of Hitman seems pretty irrational. I own it. Very fun game. It has pushed about 3 mil units too, so it's not a commercial failure or anything.

I prefer it to Deus Ex quite a bit, though Sleeping Dogs is better I think.

You've not pulled those sales from ******** by any chance?

There, as well as the NPD + Media Create I could find, and stuff off the hitman forums.

It's all a guess until SE releases the numbers though - all we can really know is that it was commercially successful at this point - to what degree exactly, who knows.

I am sure the game was shipped/sold enough to pay back its production cost for them but not give them much sales after at this time. Nick from IO has already said the series future is in fine shape and should be more pleasing for the fans on the forums their with more older stuff (I still will be cautious but I do take their word when it come to Absolution being a lot restricted with its size and other areas because of current console hardware) and I am happy to give it one more shot again considering it's going to be another team. Absolution had some fantastic levels and some of the best there but there was a lot of unfortunate things that didn't work right. However it was a fucking great stealth game (spending about 4 hours on the orphanage is a testament to that)

Man.. don't do that... FYI that / certain site / is untrustable and has a history of making numbers up.

I know the series was not going well, but I can't blame people, I mean, Soul Reaver 2 was a huge step backwards from SR1, and Defiance more.

Still not bad games, like BO2.. wait? there was a Blood Omen 2? my memory is erasing it right now

I'd give almost anything for a next gen remake of Soul Reaver, or a game which portrays the events between that and Blood Omen. I don't have high hopes for a new story without Amy Hennig though.

Yes, you played Kain and it primarily took place in a large city and also introduced the Hylden. It was okay and had some cool areas (like that asylum where time doesn't flow) but not as good as the rest of the series.
