Futari Wa Precure 14

Rumors are flying around town about the Precure. Who they might be. What they are like. This worries Nagisa and Honoka of course. Two of their classmates claim to know a lot about the Precure. In fact, they seem to be pretending to be Precure for younger kids. Mipple and Mepple worry about them being mistaken or used against the Precure. Sure enough that happens and the real Precure have to battle the imposters, without hurting them.
It works out and everything is cool, except that they wont stop the facade. Kids never learn.

Oh yeah, and if you couldn't figure it out by now, they announced absolutely nothing at the AWxSAO event. Guess we'll have to keep waiting a while longer...

Chihayafuru 2 - 06

So Shoujo - yet so good. Wanted to see Chihaya fight for that final card though.

At least we know
she won't lose in this season anymore now that she's got that defeat out of the way!

Also, if I'm reading this right, Yuki Kaji (Haruyuki) and Rina Hidaka (Yuniko) did some sort of an improv joke relating to their Ro-Kyu-Bu roles as Subaru and Airi, and the audience got a kick out of it.

A lot of perfectly short skits in Nichijou make great gif material...

Nichijou is best consumed in .gif form.

Futari Wa Precure 15

The two families take a vacation to a hot springs inn.
This show really seems to follow the tried and true episode formulas. there is an episode where the Precures quarrel with each other, an imposter episode, a vacation episode...it echoes Sailor moon closely but adds its own twist. For the most part it seems to be working.
I wonder how many more episodes will go by though until the next plot development, because monster of the day gets old after a while.

By the way, this show, and particularly this episode, has some pretty nifty sakuga on occasion.

I've got a question about Nichijou. Did the show cover most of the manga's content? I know it bombed like a Wii U, but I'd feel pretty good about the whole thing if they at least managed to wring every last drop out of the series.
Why is Space Brothers such a highly acclaimed anime?
It's a show with endearing characters, space trivia, grown people still reaching for their dreams, family working together, rising to meet a new challenge, sacrifice, growing up and a whole bunch of inspirational stuff that benefits from a soundtrack that literally makes me fist pump once per episode. It's a show for people that want to watch something other than teenagers being awkward as hell. I like a good show that makes me feel like life isn't over once you step past the high school gates one last time. Space Brothers is the kind of show vets need every once in a while and the type of show that one could easily introduce to someone not familiar with anime.
I think their sound design + music choices add a lot
The VAs really go all out for this show too. I always think to myself that they had to enjoy their lines, especially the VA for Yuko.

This and the fight afterwards are great haha.

Well it is the first season, it's by the books , even if they tried to do their own things ... it's after , in the other season that precure became his own things that they decided to do things less "classic"

This gag made me incredibly happy because it mentioned my country :D

There is some unintentional comedy in there too that can probably only be appreciated by fellow countrymen.
Yuko's pronunciation of the two words just slays me every single time.
It is running... itself into the ground.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Oh God no
And yet their retro silent gag with the card pyramid is one of the best parts.
What in the world are you talking about? The music and sound effects make the entire scene. I swear that Mio's heart must smash against her ribcage when the light comes off the ceiling and the sound effect kicks in.

Futari Wa Precure 16

A "madonna" of the academy named Yuka (who is lovely by the way) and good at all things wishes to be more...well...normal. She becomes the latest target to use against the Precure, and Poisony clones her. they come up with a couple of clever ways to distinguish the real Yuka from the fake Zakennas. The fight goes slightly differently this time as they get swallowed up by Zakenna, but it only makes the Marble Screw attack look more badass.
Oh and I love how this show still used hand drawn machines and vehicles.

Maoyu 7

That was a pretty awkward bed scene. I like the future directions its going but still heavy on talking and education and too little on action which made the trial and revenge scenes feel weak.

Boring is such a strong word.

The punchlines are just waaaaaaaaay more miss than hit. And the gags have a tendency to on and on and on and on way past the point where they needed to stop. And only a handful of the characters are actually entertaining for extended periods of time. And, well, yes, it's boring.

Excellent characters that you can relate to. You want them to be happy, to overcome everything and eventually fulfill their dreams.
It makes you dream about space, it's inspiring, heart-warming, uplifting, funny, sad, emotional...
The OST is fantastic, too, it fits the show so well...

Space Brothers is one of the best mangas/animes in recent years.

Jojo 19
Great episode, the Cars/Joseph fight was awesome.

Space Brothers 45
Damn, I had the stupidest smile on the face when they got the jumpsuits :')
Sharon's story is good, I wonder if we'll see that telescope at some point. That's a new objective for Mutta, great.
And the Super Sentai comparison :lol

Gray Lyon commentary before and during the Wendy Sherryia fight was splendid and made it really feel awesome, Natsu Gray moments during the Laxus and the same fight as well.
Light laser attack from Wendy for the secret arte sky dragon slayer magic was amazing animated

The girls go to help out on Honoka's grandmother's farm. They are accompanied by a couple of classmates, including Nagisa's crush and the mysterious evil kid. Today's zakenna of the day is a gigantic worm. Frightening. Poisony separates the Precure from each other, rendering them helpless. she has the right idea for defeating them. It doesn't work out of course and Cure Black joins cure White to defeat the worms.
Still this does beg the question of how much Mepple and Mipple thought this whole thing through. Maybe thats why the Precures later become teams.

It bombed because it was boring.

That's not entirely fair, it averaged one entertaining gag per episode (granted there were about 3 or 4 gags per episode) until it had a couple of full episodes around the middle.

There's no middle-ground with Nichijou! None!

I thought the middle ground was that it's best viewed via gifs?

What? That gag is MADE by the synchronization between animation and music, a gif of that would be worthless.

A gif would be worthless because there's not neccesarily a "punchline" but a massive buildup. (alternative is to make a stupidly large gif).

What in the world are you talking about? The music and sound effects make the entire scene. I swear that Mio's heart must smash against her ribcage when the light comes off the ceiling and the sound effect kicks in.

I've always thought the audio in that gag was just to emphasize what's happening on the screen (an added extra if you will), what really sells it is the visuals and their reactions to every threat but that's par for the course with Kyoani.
