Playstation Meeting trailer: See the Future. Feb. 20th [Will Be Livestreamed]

Beyond is the only one I think that may be possible for. GoW: A and Last of Us are coded down to the lowest levels of the Cell. It would be a massive undertaking to port them over.

We'll see about that. At worst they'd have to recode lighting and animation systems which they're going to need versions of on the PS4 anyways. Unless it turns out that PS4 games are vastly outperformed by PS3 ones, in which case.. Yikes.

I suspect all of Sony's PS3 titles this year have an accompanying PS4 version sitting waiting for release. Seeing as proper BC seems like a no-go, it only makes sense to build for the future.

Strange, I think the opposite. No first party titles will be cross gen. I think we'll see the usual third party stuff like FIFA, Battlefield and Watch Dogs but nothing from Sony. It'll all be new and tailored to the new tech.

It should make it out pretty quickly. Kaz said that the wait for GT6 wouldn't be anything like GT5. Theyt were building systems that were going to be able to work over the course of generations instead of having to rebuild everything from scratch like they did for GT5. So a lot of stuff from GT5 will likely carry over into GT6 in an upgraded form. Like the cars and their weather system.

Good to know. I don't normally get platforms at launch. Usually want to clear most games on the previous systems first. GT is one of the only 2 or 3 franchises that could make me get a system Day 1. If it's near launch...

What's ironic is that the other franchises in question also have a good chance of appearing early

I agree. Sony released GoW2 after the PS3 was out so they're obviously not afraid of launching games late in the gen, especially if they're high profile titles and have a PS3 price drop near them.

Any chance of Destiny showing up at the meeting?

I don't think so. Destiny seems like the kind of game that Bungie and Activision want to get all the limelight at their own events. It seems like they just moved up their reveal a few days to keep it from getting overshadowed by the PS4.

If anyone ends up recording the event, or knows where it might be replayed, please send me a PM. I really want to watch the conference after class and be surprised, rather than just reading the threads.
Please add me to this list, as well. I would greatly appreciate a PM with a link. Thanks!!

I only say this because of the lack of BC. It's a very cheap way of bumping up your library size (as is bc). They've been reselling ps2 games online for long enough.

Correct. Sony have enough 1st party studios and 2nd party contracts to support both simultaneously (PS4 more so, obviously) going forward with different titles for each. I think they'll give the PS3 it's own content for at least 18-24 months after the new console launches, before falling back on third parties to carry it to its final resting place.

I'm pretty sure that any game being announced at the reveal show of a damn new console is bound to get a lot of attention.

Specially since this show is US-based and streamed worldwide. Hell, it's almost free advertising.

Sony really needs to have one mega game announcement. Games from their european studios are not going to cut it no matter how good they look.

What do you think of the chances they'll let you play PSP games on PS4? I mean in one way Sony won't want it since it removes incentive for a Vita, but I imagine they (and 3rd parties) would all makes a lot more money off PSN sales. Heck I'd probably prefer playing certain games on PS4 instead of my Vita

Officially showing of Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain as both parts of MGS5, and showing it running on PS4 would be huge, especially since Metal Gear interest will be high with the launch of Rising.

Hmm, technically possible but I doubt it. PS minis might be there which are technically PSP games, but I think the big new thing will be PSmobile game support which might get lot more developers interested.

They'll have something big, it's a console announcement, after all. My guess is a big third party exclusive worth a crap. Metal Gear or Final Fantasy. Maybe The Last Guardian, although that might not be a big deal outside of the super hardcore.

Oh God, showing both Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes trailers mingle in with each other some how (along with some new footage) would be absolutely fantastic.

That'll do..... That'll do.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale 2 by Sanzaru :)

I really don't like the name. Next one needs an image revamp and should be called PlayStation Battle Opera.... or something that doesn't set a lofty goal by proclaiming "All-Stars".

All jokes aside, a proper sequel for PABR by SSM is something I would like to see on the ps4. No more cutting corners. I want a full fledged fighting game with a strong roster and tons of content with a huge market push that can redeem the first entry

I see them showing TLG there..but at this point I don't think it will hold water for a lot of "casual" people for launch.

They will need something FPS wise. Big.

Killzone 4 (this might not be able to do it tho)
Planetside 2 for there F2P stuff

OR 3rd party speaking and the one I see happening the most

Battlefield 4.

It was really the biggest disappointment this gen. The PR for that game should be a chapter taught in graduate studies under how to fuck up your product.

I really want to believe GT6 will come out sooner than later but GT5 really killed my interest in the franchise. So late and with stupid standard v Premium content. Never pull that shit again.

What?

GT5 was one of the best games this gen.

PD introduced a weather system, day night transition, special events, a course generator, best physics on a console sim, amazing graphics, and a pretty robust online system which was great when setting up private races through the lounge. Then there's the post launch support for the game, 2 years later and we're still getting updates and free cars. And frankly, it would have been a shame not to include the standards in the game, there's over 200 premium cars in the game which should keep the casuals happy, but for the hardcore fans who are still playing it 6 months after launch, taking standards out would be like taking out 800 cars regardless of the graphic quality, the updated physics were also implemented on them.

However, for the PS4, having standard quality vehicles would be ridiculous as they should have a pretty decent library of premium cars by now.

I'm saying this because I know people who loved Valkyria Chronicles 1, but have no interest in two since they don't see the point in owning a handheld. If the could play it on PS4, they would get it. It's the same case for a lot of other PSP games since they just don't have interest in handhelds.

Well, EA did say since they last economic report that they would show something BF4 related within the next 90 days (which is their next economic report). That happened one or two weeks ago. Who knows?!

And man, Planetside 2 would be awesome. But that is more of a E3 announcement.

Didn't they say at one point that making premium cars was now easier or something? I might be wrong though. They also said that the premium cars had PS4 quality (which is exciting, man, I don't think they used the full HD models during actual gameplay), which I am sure of.

My dream scenario is the meeting starting with footage of Ground Zeroes then Snaking saying...

Followed by fireworks on stage and curtains raise showing the PS4, called the PS4 not some BS codename.

No, no, no. It needs to be Kaz, after Sony starts the show 30 minutes late.

Didn't PGR4 introduce a robust weather system first?

fake edit: OH wait, do you mean within the GT series?

I still to this day have no idea if that is running on current gen specs, or next gen specs.

Shop Kaz's face in there to follow the trend and Sony will have won the internets forever (exaggerating of course).
