EA's "Chip" justifies charging for cheats

DCharlie

And even i am moderately surprised
According to "Chip", in order to get a free cheat online you have to go to a website that is funded through advertising... thus, it's a better deal for EA just to charge you outright for it
.

yes, because i have to pay for this advertising on these free cheat sites.

I like that the current model of unlocking in-game content by you know.. playing through the game is now a disservice to 80% of consumers.

How about instead of selling me an on/off switch for the content I want, you just ****ing give it to me.

so in light of this new information, and the fact that EA is implimenting in-game advertisements then its because they want their games to be free, right?

because advertisements make things free. like gamecheats. and newspapers

The year EA decides to make Tiger Woods more diffcult, thus less fun for the majority of gamers, is the same year they discover a way to earn direct revnue from the selling of cheats?

EA is alleviating us of the strain gained by having to get cheats for free. I hate free stuff. Please charge me EA. I beg you.

I can see a game like Ninja Gadian being like a super easy kiddie game, unless you want to PAY UP then than give you an H BOMB! Way to go EA!

EA new tag line. The company that makes you bend over.

Seriously, this might harm Xbox360 sales more than EA. MS should step in and put a stop to this.

Maybe we`re looking at this all wrong. Maybe EA is being the good samaritan, forcing cheating assholes to pay money to feed their need to get everything in a game without working for it. Maybe EA is trying to make it a safer place for gamers with mad skillz.

MAYBE THEY`RE ON OUR SIDE.

I'm not normally a huge EA hater, there were plenty of titles last gen from them I liked and still play now but they are taking piss right now and they are devaluing the benefits of these new systems for worthwhile content and potential income..

Major Nelson went on to question Lange about removing cheats from current-gen games and charging for them on the 360 but he evaded the matter by stating, "I don't know if that's right or not. That's not something I've actually gone in and researched." It was certainly the case with The Godfather, where a push-button code to access more cash that was present in the Xbox version was removed from the 360 version.

Is it wrong to have the urge to slit someone's throat everytime I hear the phrase "we're giving the consumer more choice"?

YES, I NOW HAVE ACCESS TO THE HITERTO UNAVAILABLE CHOICE OF BEING RAPED BY MY XBOX. THANKS EA!

What pisses me off even more is that jackass Major Nelson supporting this shit and going on TV telling people "don't press that button!" if they don't want any of it, ignoring that 360 games - especially from EA - are still being shipped with a fraction of the content anyone can get FOR FREE on the Xbox or PS2 to begin with, with a $10 premium on top of that.

I wonder if I'm going to see some dolt here coming in just to say "lol ea haters lol"

This shit is vile. And if you can't see what EA has in its pipeline you are blind or stupid.

Yeah...Because there is no way they'll pull this on the PS3 or Wii, right?

Who the hell would name their kid Chip.

If you're a WASP douchebag, you name your kid Chip to make sure that he continues the proud family tradition of being chronically flawed douchebag marketing schleps. And let me tell you, I bet Chip exceeded his parents' wildest dreams.

STOP BUYING EA GAMES

EA games are bad for gaming. Ban them. Tell your friends what they are up to. Get the boycott rolling!!! STOP BUYING EA GAMES NOW!

Striek said:
IIRC we already laughed at/bashed EA for this response. So stupid it needs a second go?

Yes. This issue should be discussed daily. We don't need gaming to devolve into a microtransaction hell hole.

Chip Lang, Vice President of Online Commerce, EA

My goodness what a neat title.

Let's come up with other titles Chip can use on his business cards. I will start.
