Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | February 2013 | The most desirable handheld in Japan

They'd have to use the engine for a different game altogether so i wouldn't get your hopes up. Instead i'd just buy it as is and stop complaining :)

No, they wouldnt. I am not playing MLB because its a Euro sport, or Yakuza because its a Euro centric game. It would actually be a reason to buy it, since I could just buy MLB instead otherwise.

A localization would still give them money, even if it might not sell as well as in japan.

First trailer for Konami's Pro Baseball Spirits 2013 is here!

It's coming to the whole PS-family, presumably the footage is PS3, but last years version was very good looking and playing on Vita.

This series doesn't get the love it deserves so i hope that MLB The Show fans watch the video and give PBS a try this year (releases March 20)!

For those concerned about language, www.spiritstranslation.com is an excellent website to see you through the games.

Pro Baseball Spirits sure does look fancy. But I don't speak Japanese or follow Japanese baseball. I'd maybe buy it if it released in English, but since MLB The Show rarely makes it to Europe I doubt a Japanese baseball game would be localised anywhere.

Hopefully MLB 13 is an improvement and we don't get just a roster update like FIFA Football to FIFA 13.

EDIT: That Spirits Translation site is cool, but having to constantly refer back to a translation site bugs me. :p

Once you've gone through the options a few times you'll get a feel for it and don't really have to go back there much.

You can go in the corner with all the Japanese people that buy Madden ok!

Please remind us again when we know it releases in the West. So many games that should come over.

If Konami is smart they should grab the MLB license for next gen since 2K is done with it. Konami has two very capable baseball series (Pro Yayuka Spirits, and Power Pros) that for the most part are restricted to Japan-only status.

I love how the relief pitchers get a ride on a small car to the mound instead of walking. I already got MLB 13 for vita and ps3 ordered, but may think about this game later on in the year.

For those who have or have played Dynasty Warriors Next, I saw it was $19.99 at my local Wal-mart the other day.

Is it worth it for $20?

I enjoy Musou games but I was wondering how the touch screen features affects the enjoyment of the game.

Definitely worth 20 bucks.

The touchscreen stuff gets repetitive but there's still plenty of hacking and slashing to be doing. I only really began to find the touchscreen stuff annoying when I finished the story mode and started Conquest.

Yes, it is a better version of DW7. The touch gimmicks aren't overused or all the time.

why are people talking about a mystery port on the bottom of the vita... thats where my mem cad goes. theres a mystery port on the top of my vita....

Some nice news from that JAW interview! Good read. Strangers wrath getting discount in 2 weeks. Munchs is taking longer than anticipated but still coming :)

You can go in the corner with all the Japanese people that buy Madden ok!

Stupid reasoning. A localization and digital distribution would be so cheap, compared to the other dev costs that even a small jap centric release like this could make money off it. Is Madden even released in Japan? Is it ONLY released digitally? Because if so, EA will still make money with it.

Not to mention the corner with the madden playing japanese people is the best corner anyway because they are open minded and cool. :p
(Still didnt manage to give Madden a try, maybe they can teach me!)

Seems unreal that I'm playing Phantasy Star Online again and on the Vita to boot. Game looks fantastic on that screen. Creating a Sega ID was not fun, but once I was logged in and playing I forgot all about that hurdle.

For some reason I had to reformat my Japanese account memory card to be able to download this (PSO2) from the store. Did I do something wrong when I was switching accounts? I now have to redownload my three demos. I'm worried about it requiring a reformat of my 32GB card.

Dakuro is so much fun,i cant leave my vita for more than hour before grab it again to continue, the puzzles are enjoyable to solve, not very hard -except a puzzle in stage 3 i think- but not easy/boring too..love the sound when his bones breaks p=
Love this game! So charming and has a nice ending too. Make sure to stick with it. Also the platinum is very attainable.

I really didn't know what I was doing in the Soul Sacrifice demo, but I did play 3 missions and it seemed promising.

As far as PSO2, thankfully I had my brother who has been playing for about 200 hours show me the ropes and running through missions. I had him start a new character. I got Toro as a bot that you can bring in game to help on missions and he thought that was amazing.

Game looks fantastic. As long as you get past creating a Sega ID account, you're pretty much good to go.

The character creation is fantastic and has a great deal more of options to really customize your look. I defaulted to a newman techer as that's what I default to in every PSO/U game.

I still can't figure out how to type messages to other people, but I'm sure I'll figure that out tonight.

How is it performance wise? Frame rate, netcode, loading time, those type of things.

It's the last day of Feburary, so I guess we're getting close to the end of this thread. I still say we should use Toma's Independent/Indie-pendent Life subtitle for the March thread.

I'm very tempted to switch to my Japanese account for PSO2, but I also don't want to have to reorganize 7 pages of bubbles after putting my main memory card back in. :/

Since the Vita price drop in Japan, stores in Shinjuku are reporting sellouts of stock within an hour of opening their doors this is according to InsideGames (japanese)

It seems the official price cut at major retailers is pushing sales for the system already, especially the Sapphire Blue and Cosmic Red color versions, as well as the new Ice Silver.

Finding and launching the game wasn't hard. Navigating the menus to start playing wasn't hard either.

I did accidentally click "randomize" after spending 15-20 minutes painstakingly picking options for my character.

Thank God for the undo button!!

The frame rate dropped right when it load a "town" setting with multiple users in one area, but that didn't last long. The missions ran flawlessly from what I could see. The load times seemed great compared to phantasy star universe on 360.

I'm worried, like I said, that switching back will format my card, but honestly, I wouldn't need another game for a long time. I may not even pick up soul sacrifice when it drops because of this. I'm going to miss SFxT a bit, but not that much. At least for a while.

My fault, don't have my Vita on me and I forgot what was what. I think everyone else was just humoring me.

As for PSO, I'd really like to get my hands on it, but I can't be bothered with swapping accounts and such.

I hope Sega brings it to the EU eventually. Surely once the PC port is done, and they have localisation data for that, and a working port on JP PSNV, an English Vita port has to be inevitable, right?

I bought a 32GB off craigslist after recently buying a 16GB off of the Sony deal.

I figured if I was going to pay $30 for a card, I might as well pay the extra $30 for the 32GB card, switch that to my main, and use the 16 specifically for PSO2.

I REGRET NOTHING!

The initial download was 3098 megs, but it also had a second download attached (that starts after the first one ends automatically) that is just over a gig

Is that the first game that does not fit onto the smallest memory card anymore?

I've been playing around with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus on my Vita for a while last night/this morning and even when I turn the gore off and set the camera speeds to "fast" I just can't get over how bad the frame rate is most of the time :( (and I got on very well with Sigma 1 despite the 30fps frame rate cap). Big battles are just a nigthmare, things can slow down pretty bad depending on the area. Weirdly its not even Tag mode that I have the most problems with, its that terrible Ninja Race mode, it chucks so many enemies at you that your choices seem to be either: fight them and waste too much time and fail, or: avoid them and let the frame rate grind to a halt!
I can only hope that some kind of patch is released that at either fixes these problems (unlikely) or at least improves things a tad as at the moment I couldn't recommend this game even though I enjoyed both the 360 and PS3 versions...

On the brighter side I am quite enjoying Ridge Racer despite there being no proper single player campaign. I've gotten really addicted to the time trial mode trying to shave off a few extra seconds on the courses so I've not played much else at the moment.

How big is RR and was it on sale right now?

I'm thinking about jumping into the Japanese Import game with my Vita and I'm aware of the two main options one being importing an actual physical copy from Play Asia or another import shop and the other being turning a spare memory card into an exclusive Japanese PSN one.

I've read the instructions on how to set up a JPN PSN and how to reformatt the Vita so I can access the Japanese PSN store but I'm curious how people are getting funds into the Japanese account. Does PSN JPN allow us to use foreign credit cards to pay and let the Credit Card companies handle the conversion behind the scenes or are people using JPN PSN cards? If I need to buy some Japanese Playstation cards where's the best place to get them?

Hopefully the sales keep up.

The price drop, Senran Kagura (saw pictures of crowds queuing for that game, entirely male lol), PSO2 and Soul Sacrifice soon, the Vita should start to be a pretty enticing console for the Japanese market.

I've never purchased anything on my Jap PSN account. Sorry I can't answer that for you.

Paypal maybe?

I hate all of you with spare 8gb cards.
:(

I have a 16gb and an 8gb but the shifting bubbles piss me off so much that I never swap cards. I'd rather shuffle everything through content manager.

I really ought to buy a 32gb soon. I was holding out for a larger card but I can't see it happening any time soon.

Just shy of 1gig in size, not sure how big the DLC I have is though (I forget they were just unlock keys or not.)

I got the game at launch, its been on sale at least once I think but I forget when exactly. I've been playing it on and off for the last year and its only just "clicked" with me. It'd be worth keeping an eye on the "Ultimate" edition as thats the one that comes with all the DLC, its worth it for the extra tracks and cars.

man...

im still slumming with my feb 4GB.
almost broke and upgraded recently but refuse to pay that amount for sony memory so im still hunting for a good deal

Aye, it frustrates me too but PSO2 seems like something I'd invest a lot of time in. Really hoping there's a decent sale on memory cards for the UK, haven't been keeping an eye out but I hadn't heard of any particularly good deals.

Check craigslist people. I bought a second vita and now a 32 GB card off of there. You might get lucky.

my 4 has done me more then well and i just started to feel the need for a increase.
ran to craigslist after your first post about it but nothing, will start checking regularly now that im actually in need

Thanks for pointing that out, that completely eliminated any chance of me getting the game. I game mostly in a dark/dim room. Which makes it very hard for any AR type of gaming.

The daily training, which is the most important part of Smart As, doesn't use the AR-games. So the AR-games shouldn't be the reason to not buy it. I guess I played something like ten hours of Smart Ass and I did every AR-game (total of 3/4) maybe one or two times.
