Steam does the same.

The last I heard, chargebacks no longer result in your Steam account getting banned. You can still play all of the games you already own but you're not permitted to make new purchases for one month. Someone posted a screenshot of the error message a few weeks ago.

Honestly that one photo of a chat session is probably going to have a more damaging effect on their reputation than the servers always being down right now.

The amount of people requesting refunds is probably such a small percentage of the people who bought the game. It'd make a hell of a lot more sense to offer and issue refunds EASILY and SMOOTHLY than to keep fighting it. That's like free advertisement: "Hey, we fucked up and we're dicks, but we realize it and we're making amends..." is more than worth it in the long run compared to whatever money they'll lose on refunds. What a horribly run company.

Not sure how many of you guys that were around "back in the day", but when Steam was first introduced. It was hated on a level, if not higher, than what Origin is today. The practices that it introduced are so common now, it doesn't seem that bad anymore.

Expect Origin to be popular 5-10 years from now (never halting at their practices) while we roll our eyes at those who cherish it because it's what they've always known.

It's kind of ridiculous all of these DD services don't have a refund method setup so that if you've played a game for say under 1 hour, you can easily request a refund. Maybe have it limited to once per month or something to combat abuse.

Now, the EU release is happening. Guess what: Shit's gonna break again, until they put more servers in place.

Today is not a good day to be playing SimCity.

I totally want to mess in my city, but I can't be bothered with rollbacks, disconnections, lack of sync and, worst of all, put my city in jeopardy.

I know we all want to play it, but I'd wait for tomorrow/the day after. That's what I'm doing, actually.

I've had this problem a few times and it just requires restarting the game (multiple times usually). It never continues if you don't restart it though

I wish I could join a queue to get on a server. I want to get on West 2, with the other GAFers from VW2, but it is busy. Instead of putting me a queue, it launches the game and I can't do anything except try to create a new region, which does nothing.

I have no idea why I bought this today while knowing about the problems. Especially when it cost $20 more than my original amazon pre-order. I might try that origin refund route for kicks. I can deal with the login issues, but constantly getting kicked out of the game and having rollbacks is another level. Should have bought it from Amazon

The customer came across as a bit of a bellend, probably not the best thing to do when you're trying to get a CSR to refund something "at their discretion". Other people have gotten refunds no problem (some even got a 15% discount voucher for their problems)

You are aware basically every online service/retailer does this? Including Steam, etc.

Steam stops you from purchasing new games but you can still play your old stuff just fine. See my post at the top of the page.

It's a common problem (happening on all servers I imagine). Happened to me on US servers too.

If you don't get the tutorial, then you can't do anything. Try creating a region and claiming a land and you will see what I mean.
