Rumor: First Battlefield 4 teaser coming this week [Up: Partial Box Art Appears]

I can't really feel that excited for BF4, they kinda dropped the ball with all the BF3 promises.
I'm sorry, but how? DICE has delivered one of the most feature complete multiplayer FPS games...ever, with BF3 and it's post release content. I can understand why some might not like their decisions on a gameplay design level, but what is it that they promised that they didn't deliver on?

Why the hell is the cover in the exact same style as BF3?

Be original, for christ's sake. I know it's just a box cover, but come on.

...because the Battlefield name is now heavily associated with orange accents, flaming soldiers, and blue/orange contrast?

It's kind of their thing now.

Brand recognition to the casuals similar to how all COD boxes are the same layout (except different colors at least).

People on this forum and BF fans in general aren't the target considering they'll know all about the game, but they want to catch the impulse buyers.

I don't really care about the box art at all since it just sits in a stack of games anyway. :p

It's their "thing"... for Battlefield 3. They should've gone a new route instead of rehashing previous art styles.

Art design for sequels is just a peeve of mine, I suppose.

oh please, lets harp on the mario games for using recognizable box art? No gameplay footage has been shown yet. Wait and see.

Fun. Good maps.

Best regards,

200+ hours of BF2142
700+ hours of BF1943
700+ hours of BF:BC2
150+ hours of BF3 (last time played about 6 months ago)

I was even stupid enough to pay for BF3 Premium. What was I thinking?! I'm actually dreaming of playing BC2 again, but I'm not sure if there are active players anymore. :/

Sure, it is one of the most complete multiplayer FPS game ever, but it is not the most complete Battlefield game. Sure, it's looking at the IP on itself, but this is a numbered title, and to be honest, with all the fun I had from BC2, I actually thought BF3 would've been a giant jump in the gameplay aspect, but it seemed more that they were pushing the engine more than the gameplay itself. Hell even the engine seemed gimped, most buildings couldn't be brought down in MP, let alone make a hole in walls.

Not to be that guy but, console or PC? I'd agree with the fact that BF3 was a step in the wrong direction on consoles coming from BC2.

While I like what I read about BF4 in those leaks, I can't help but think its going to feel more like an expansion pack or something. Especially since its sticking with the modern setting.

They'd better do more with DLC than just map packs. Release a proper Special Forces expansion, or better yet, include the Special Forces stuff in the actual game. Zipwires, grappling hooks, night vision, gas masks, pitch black night maps... Significantly bigger maps as well.

I tried both versions. But I mean PC here, and sometimes maps seemed just way too small for 64 players or just not well designed.

The jet looks like a Eurofighter.

That's what I thought originally which would be interesting, but didn't expect it on the cover. Then again, maybe they're bringing back true WWIII with Euro forces involved as well like the BF2 "booster pack".

I was hoping they would include Russian or Chinese Gen 5 fighters so they could put the F-22 in as well since they'd all be pretty maneuverable and the avionics, electronics etc. wouldn't matter since it's BF.

I'm just tired of the damn F-35...lol

Wow. I didn't see that happening. Has BF3 outsold MW3? O__o

With CoD sales declining, there can't be that much of a gap between the two IP now.

The last major number we got for CoD was 25 million shipped for BLOPS 1 about a year and a half after its release.

Yes.

Although there are many things in BF3 I really like, going from bc2 levels of destruction to bf3 was a disappointment.

Taking down a house with a whole squad in it? Perfection.
Destroying a level is fun. Playing in a flat, destroyed level isn't. I'm not sure how they're going to reconcile the two.

So I guess 2143 doesn't seem likely?

The issue was if they did 2143 no doubt most people will yet again claiming BF is coping COD due to them both having titles in the future. Same thing happened when BF3 was announced the uninformed just saw a shooter then claimed EA are coping COD

So, wait. Did BF3 break 20 mil or not? Anyways. My point stands in that the momentum is with BF.
Well considering it did 17mil in October and 2 expansion packs, Black Friday deals, and plenty of sales have happened since then, I'd say it's safe to assume that 20mil they have on their website is true.

Yeah the F35 even sucks in the game, I'd much rather fly the F18.

Hyped. Loved BF3 and I am re-downloading BFBC2 on PC right now! I am hoping it's a graphical leap forward on PC - but even if that's not the case it's OK since it has taken me a year to finally create the perfect BF3 MP workstation. :)

I almost forgot to mention: Imagine if the microtransactions and DLC day one fiasco that EA has done with Dead Space and Sim City have been terrible, just imagine how it will be for their most popular franchise. Something tells me they think this is a huge opportunity for monetizing the hell out of us.
