Sonic Generations - Unleashed Project mod released (Unleashed stages in Generations)

Just played it. This mod is really well done. Like, professional quality.

Could someone make a Steam Grid icon for it? :p

Considering the amount of work this clearly took, the number of hitches and issues are miniscule. It's pretty shocking.

There seems to be something about taking pictures of Wentos and sending them in to a Gmail account? I found him once by accident (while dying) near the beginning of Cool Edge, in the platforming bit just after the intro, but after trying multiple times I couldn't figure out where exactly he was to take the shot. Started to wonder if he was triggered to only appear on the first playthrough of a level (no deaths), but I'm probably just overlooking the right spot.

Also, I forgot how rubbish I am at Unleashed. And honestly, I prefer the length of the Generations stages (save Planet Wisp), Unleashed levels just feel too long to me. But that's not a slight against the work of the mod at all, just my personal taste regarding the original Unleashed designs.

Edit: Aha, found him. It's probably the easiest one. Sent it in.

This is one of many reasons every game in existences needs a decent PC version.

Of course, romhacking exists, but PC modding is so much easier and more common.

Unleashed day stages were a lot of great. So having them on Generations for the PC makes it almost like owning Sonic Unleashed for the PC. Better, in some ways, since I can pick and choose and not have to deal with the night stages. Also the overworld in Sonic Unleashed is nothing impressive, so I'm not missing out on anything.

If SEGA made this officially as a DLC, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Colours also has some stages already finished and others being worked on. And there's also a project to re-create Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 for Sonic Generations. Both of which games have PC versions. At this rate, all of the best of Sonic will be able to be experienced via the PC via Sonic Generations.

Dario, any reason the game would be this blurry? I'm using the FXRenderer, and forcing SSAA, AF, and Vsync through Radeonpro

Aside from that bug, this MOD is so polished it seems as if it was from Sonic Team themselves. The theme arrangements on the hub world are GOD tier. Holy shit.

Just played until the snow level. These are great! The only downside is that playing them unlocked some Achievements for the main game :( It feels like cheating.

Also, I think I encountered a bug in the snow level. I reached a door and a button--that presumably opens the door--encased in ice, and I don't know how to break it. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Stomp attack. That replaces the tri-stomp switches that were in Unleashed. (Good riddance to them, too.)

Warning to people playing for the first time: certain moves like Light Dash (Y) don't work until you play a few stages into the game, even though you don't visibly pick up upgrades for them, and then they just work after that. Normal Generations was like that too, which was silly, but just play through a few stages, and everything will work on that save afterward.

How do I do a stomp attack? I turned off the game a while ago. Was there a stomp attack in generations? I honestly don't remember.

I noticed that about the Light Dash. I was getting annoyed for missing, but I guess it wasn't my fault at all.

Sonic-GAF will continuously give me shit for this, but I believe Daytime unleashed to the closest thing to the spirt of sonic as a character. Even more than the Genesis games.

Generations Modern is just as good but i will take Unleashed sonic over genesis sonic any day of the week. So much fun.

Visit Sonic-GAF or shush up about us. We love Modern Sonic.

From what I saw of the Colours mod, I'm kinda iffy about how they could include the other Wisp powers. Many of the levels (particularly the shorter levels designed around getting Red Rings and getting Wisp Bonuses) were designed around those other Wisp powers (like, I can't see Aquarium Park without Drill, for example). I like Brianuuu's work on Tropical Resort, but some of the other stages might be hard.

Replacing one of the other wisps with either Rocket or Spikes might not be the best thing considering they work way differently.

I'm confused. You have to progress in order to get such skills as Light Dash? Regular Unleashed was like that too, but...

Stomp in Generations was jump then press B while Sonic was in mid-jump on the 360 controller.

It was jump and then...X I wanna say? Square for PS3. There definitely was a stomp attack in Generations but it was only really utilized in Crisis City.

Am I just rusty, or are a couple points in Cool Edge and the first segment of Jungle Joyride absolutely *brutal?*

I guess it would help if I didn't have mt finger on the Boost button 90% of the time.

Unleashed made you visibly collect new shoes in the hubs before you could do things like Wallkick, Stomp and Light Dash. Generations just doesn't let you Light Dash until you go to play Speed Highway (and I assume the 4th level in the mod, where it asks you if you want to watch the tutorial). It's less obvious in the original Generations levels, but in the mod the game prompts you about Light Dashing well before you can technically do it.

But once you've unlocked it, it works for good on that save. It's just a weird quirk Generations has.

When you're speedrunning through levels, stomp is your best friend for life. That goes for Unleashed as well.

It takes practice to get back in the groove again, really. I used to be terrible at Jungle Joyride before I practiced and got decent at it, and I suspect that if I go back to it right now, I'd be overwhelmingly terrible at it.

It's all about not putting your finger on the boost button all the time until you get the hang of things. Then you can experiment with it. Colours and Generations seem to typically frown on the player using boost all the time unless they're incredibly proficient at it (if you're unskilled, you're penalized for your carelessness; if you're playing Colours, you can't waste your boost at all because it's in limited supply).

Ah, I see. That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. It's been a while since I've played a new game of Generations.

This makes me feel all the more terrible for having Unleashed for Wii sitting on my shelf for ages and having hardly touched it.

Incredible work.

Downloading now, excited to play it!

Incredible work.

Dont feel bad, Unleashed on the Wii is vastly inferior outside of a few endgame levels

I can't play the mod due to lack of PC Generations, but...

Holy hell at that music! I was expecting a nice light medley of all the main Unleashed themes, and we got BEAUTIFUL music that stuck really close to the original White Space Medley - violin and all. Gorgeous.
Now time to go check out Falk's other stuff.

Surprised that they decided to create music for the white world rather than use the hub music from Unleashed. Sonic community sure is enthusiastic.

I just saw the trailer and Im really hyped! I have to be honest here, my laptop kinda struggled playing Sonic Generations so I don't know if I'll install the game and the mod, but really surprised at all the work done here.

There's likely your problem.

Just finished playing through all of the levels, whoever made the decision to dress up the Eggrobos to match the themes of the different stages deserves a medal. Too good!

My laptop cries at the prospect of not being able to appreciate Sonic Unleashed and Generations the way it was truly meant to be played.

Heh , nice touch than the trailer of this mod shows the same gameplay as the trailer of the real Unleashed.

Impressive work.

I am the biggest Sonic fan/apologist, I really liked the Sonic Adventure games and Sonic Heroes, and I even liked Sonic 2006 (despite the game's every attempt to push me away), but even I couldn't stand the Werehog stages in Unleashed. Didn't get very far before I just stopped playing, so it'll be nice to see what potentially good stuff I missed.

Also, after I started downloading the mod, I booted up Steam to redownload Sonic Generations...only to find that I had never uninstalled it.

so excited to finally see this released. Can't wait to play it when I get some later today. I really enjoyed Unleashed (even the Werehog levels, shocker!) but having boost and homing attack bound to the same button got annoying, so I can't wait to blast through the levels without the fear of rocketing into the abyss because of an unintended air boost.

On a somewhat-related note, it's been months since I last played Generations. Have there been any improvements/outright fixes in regards to the framerate hiccups the game is known to have?

Because of the way the hub music system in Generations is designed, there's not really an alternative. The system is set up to only work with songs of a certain BPM and length, so Falk, wonderful man he is, rearranged the stage music in that format in the style of the Generations hub music.

There's an optional mod to drop some of the graphical effects in this mod to boost your framerate. Might wanna check it out!

Really wish I could play this. Those screens look incredible.

Loved the day stages in Unleashed. Really fun and replayable. And Generations was even better!

Really, really impressive, but did Unleashed really have these speed bumps everywhere? Why?

I know there were one or two in Mazuri (Savannah Citadel) and Chun-nan (Dragon Road), but they aren't really everywhere. No more than Generations (Sky Sanctuary and Speed Highway had some, at least).

Unleashed had hands down the better and more ambitous #D Sonic stages over Generations, I've been waiting for this for ever, and mad props to the dev team. I doubt we'll ever get a total conversion due to all the work on bringing the levels in but... thankyou very much.

Played a few levels before work this morning. Really, really impressive, but did Unleashed really have these speed bumps everywhere? Why?

cus gotta go fast.

Is there any way to disable achievements while playing the game? I don't want to earn achievements from mods by accident, I don't like cheating!

What achievements are being awarded by playing this? I hope this mod accidentally gets me the god forsaken Time Attacker achievement since it's the only one I'm missing and the broken ass netcode doesn't allow me to even play some stages in ranking mode.

Only achievements it gets you is the red ring, S Rank, and Stage completion related ones, along with some other random easy to get achievements you probably already have.

Sadly, all that stuff seems hardcoded as well.

Also I'm not sure what you guys are talking about the lightdash? The thing's unlocked from the start! Maybe you just pressed wrong or something, since the lightdash barely works in this game I swear.

So, if I install this, do these new stages just show up on the main game's level selection hub...? Or is it a standalone game?
