I love the look of it. I was already really excited I am getting a 3DS for my birthday next week, but this and Yoshi make it even better!

I love it when people start developing hypotheticals in their head when it's literally been a day since the game was announced. I'm not sure why I like it, but it might be all of that faux hype over non-realities rising into the air over time and forming hypothetical clouds. Filling, filling, filling, they eventually get to a point where they cannot contain more non-realities.

Several months later - possibly even years - the release date is near. The clouds are getting so very heavy with the hopes and dreams of an avid fanbase awaiting the next game in their beloved franchise. The rate at which non-realities of these fans are rising into the atmosphere is becoming alarming.

They finally play the game and, to their absolute horror, they realise what they wanted isn't there. Their expectations have created a sourness within them. As a collective entity, every fan who fuelled themselves on faux hype starts to emit fumes of frustration and angst. If enough of these fumes reach the hypothetical clouds of non-realities, the clouds will finally give in and start to rain down onto the fans. Painful, burning, searing acid rain. Will it teach them a lesson? No, it won't. If it taught them a lesson, it wouldn't keep happening. It's the hype cycle.

I love it.

Oh dear while I actually agree with some of what you said since I love reading about theories and speculations aswell I myself atleast rarely fooled myself like this in recent times. I do like to make up theories and ideas on my own because creativity is something I value the most in games and stories though I know that a game will never change what it is because of what I think so I won't hold big expectations towards a game but rather enjoy it for what it is :)

The game has been in development since at least 2011. So there's no way we'll be getting the same overworld with dungeons in the same location.

I believe the original overworld to only be a part of the new overworld.

The overworld will clearly have new secrets and shit to discover, no reason for it to be 1:1 of the old overworld.

I hope the soundtrack is similar to Link to the Past. That game had some awesome tracks.

If there is one thing I do not want to see them do, is use the same exact same BGM for every dungeon. Phantom Hourglass mimicked that and it was dreadful. I want some more catchy music like in the Oracle games, okay Nintendo?

I wonder if the Dark World is still there.
Anyway I feel like this is what the 3D Classic version of ALttP became.

Good thought, but the Dark World can't be there - it was the Golden Realm until it was corrupted by Ganondorf, but, upon his being killed in ALTTP, it dissipated. Some also believe it turned back into the Golden Realm, but it's less supported and not really referenced in the Hyrule Historia.

Nintendo better fucking call it A Link to the Past 2.

No fucking bullshit. People already confused on whether this is just a remake.

Do it right Nintendo, put that 2 and the end, no Wii U bullshit, no 3DS bullshit.

Except, if what Nintendo says is true and this is not a "sequel" but rather a game in the same "world", you can bet there's going to be a dark world.

Hmmm, that's a good observation. I think the green bar is likely going to be a catch all "special meter", which drains when you use any sub-weapon, and maybe even if you use stuff like dashing, the charge sword attack, etc. I really, really, really hope this doesn't mean they're going to streamline items into infinite quantities because that's definitely a concern.

I wouldn't mind that if they utilized it correctly (like having scenarios where you have to effectively use your green bar). How many times did you run out of bombs or arrows and then had to scrounge around pots looking for more just to get past a dungeon? The first dungeon in Majora's Mask was notorious for this. If you ran out of deku nuts or sticks or whatever you were screwed and more or less had to restart the day. The stamina bar in SS was a great change and there were many moments where you had to think about using it sparingly as opposed to spamming it.

LTTP 3 NEEDS TO BE TERADA STYLE AMIRITE

I do wonder what their promotional art will look like. I'm guessing it'll be really similar to Oracles style artwork. Still, I'm just glad we can still have a goofy big hair sideburn link in this day and age.

Seriously now I'm thinking of delaying my 3DS XL White purchase, in case they bring out a Gold 3DS.

Remember this?

Gold 3DS, drool....
Meanwhile I'm still surprised to this day even with the Year of Luigi and with Yoshi and Link games in the next year, we'll most likely never see that amazing glossy green or orange 3DS from E3'10.

Sorry these days Nintendo has this guy hired for making the names.

Wind Fish or bust. Here's hoping Nintendo pulls out all the stops (inspired by the jaw dropping effort their WW remake team is secretly putting in) and takes a lot of inspiration from LA.

Did you guys noticed that when he uses the hammer, the bow and draw form, it spends some mana? maybe finally they will use use this to explain how he can carry so much itens, besides, what about the dark world? From the ending of alttp it can't be used again, as it were, as well as MS :C or Ganon. I believe maybe they will say that a ganondorf were to be reborn, so in oracles they can ressurrect him :C

Completely forgot about the press event. Hope it plays nice and they have videos.

Hopefully that isn't the case, inventory management is important to Zelda, especially ALTTP.

I want a new subtitle, to keep the tradition

I really don't care about people being confused. For what I saw on Gaf yesterday, people are really being obtuse, and if they buy something they didn't want, they fucking deserve it.

A link to the past 2 is a terrible name if you ask me, It shouldn't even mention the original in it's title. Should be a new subtitle like pretty much every zelda game.

New Legend of Zelda: Link to the 3 Day Sword

Maybe it will tell the story of the fall of Hyrule which precedes the events on NES zelda games as Oracles and awakening are clearly Spin offs whihc no relation to Hyrule.

Why wouldn't they give it a new subtitle? Majora's Mask wasn't know as Ocarina of Time 2, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks weren't Wind Waker 2 and 3 respectively.

Hell, Link's Awakening wasn't even called a Link to the Past 2.

So we have Zelda: OoT remake, GBA Zelda games, NES zelda games, SNES zelda games, DS Zelda games, possibly MM remake, Lttp sequel and an all new 3DS zelda. This is slowly becoming a Zelda fan's definitve game system.

If it's more of a true sequel that deals with the Triforce, etc, rather than a side story like Majora's Mask, they might as well as call it "A Link to the Past II." I wouldn't be surprised, since they seem to be playing up the ALttP connection as a bullet-point, and indeed, parts of the overworld seem to echo the Super NES game.

Btw, how legit is Reggie's claim that he loves ALttP? Do we believe him? PR speak, or authentic gamer love from the heart? (I like Reggie, so I want to believe!)

The 3DS is also the Mario fan's definitive system: Super Mario 3D Land, NSMB2, Mario Kart 7, Mario Tennis Open, Mario Golf World Tour, Mario Party 3DS, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Yoshi's Island 3DS (starring Baby Mario), Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move, and so on, and so forth.

I actually somewhat believe him. He's mentioned it before, in passing. I don't think he's an extremely avid gamer, but I don't think it's impossible that perhaps one of the games he has played in his life is ALTTP, and he enjoyed it enough that it stuck out in his mind.

Also, look: I'm excited for this game because it's been a decent amount of time since a good ol' top down zelda. But I definitely want new things, constantly. If nintendo turns this into a NSMB style "let's pump one of these suckers out before every investor report", I'll be pretty upset. I don't think too many people were hating on on NSMB when it was announced; a lot of the hate came when they milked the series.
