System wide screen size setting.

Folks should be happy.

I STILL can't get past Checking for Updates...

FINALLY! I wonder if it unifies the screen size between Wii U and Wii Mode. I have 1:1 pixel mapping enabled on my display since I run it in PC mode (reduces input lag on my set significantly more than Game Mode), and on Wii Mode I get black bars on all sides.

This is ridiculous, it didn't even tell you that the update was out or start downloading - how are the non neogaf Wii U owners and general public meant to know that there's an update?

The update will download automatically eventually. The Wii U checks on its own. We're just impatient so we're doing it manually.

The 3DS works the same way.

There will either be a notification or eventually it'll download automatically in the background I guess.

They'll send you a msg that there is an update. They've always done that. Only NeoGAF posters are going to be watching the update like hawks. Come on man, don't be this silly!

This kind of sentiment is always hilarious when it comes to system updates and shop releases. Like because the announcement horns didn't tirelessly blare the INSTANT they hit the network, those in charge are wholly incompetent.

This time is just for us, those who follow this shit. If you care enough to want it, you're sitting here waiting for it. The announcement, be it for this, new games in a store, or whatever, is for the people who AREN'T waiting. The people who really just don't care very much. Those who actually need to be attracted and told to come look. These things continue to exist beyond these initial moments, ya know. If the public finds out in an hour, in a day, in a WEEK, they weren't missing it.

Uh, what?

It should not let you connect to Nintendo Network if there is not an update. Plain and simple. Force people to download it on boot.

Going from Miiverse to the main menu. 1 second
Loading the web browser. 5 seconds

Fast :)

Exiting a game with the home button takes less than 10 seconds.

I'm actually kind of jelous of you WiiUBros. I hope Nintendo updates the 3DS to be a tad faster, I mean exiting a game takes a little bit too long. (About the same time as turning the system on and off)

They actually did update it a few weeks ago to be faster, or at least the eShop and the browser. It's very noticeable in the eShop.

It's interesting that I own a 3DS and cannot relate to what you're saying simply because I never turn mine off, and the vast majority of my games are downloads, so the speed is dependent on my SD Card.

Ok so it's not that interesting at all.

Meh.

Huh I just press Home then click exit on the 3DS, it's as fast as it gets. I just tried exiting Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem Awakening and Link's Awakening and it took one second for the three of those.

Will report back on Wii U speeds afterwards.

After that last update, the 3DS runs perfectly swell to me. That was a really good update for performance.

Wait can someone confirm whether it scales just the system UI or does it scale the games (a much bigger deal)? NSMBU has some UI which cuts off on my TV.

Holy shit. How did I forget that? It's instant. I must've somehow managed to confuse it with exiting an original DS game (Which actually DOES reboot the system). My bad. I feel dumb, as I should.
