The reign of the super heroes is over, replaced by the rise of the zombies as Deep Silver/Koch Media take the No1 spot with ‘Dead Island: Riptide’.

The sequel to the hugely successful ‘Dead Island’ which launched in week 36 2011, matches its predecessor by taking the crown in its first week despite having less than half the sales of the original. In total 71% of sales are for Xbox 360 which includes the special Zombie Bait Edition.

Warner’s ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ drops to No2 ahead of Capcom’s ‘Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen’. The release includes all the content of the original ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ which also debuted at No3 back in week 21 2012, as well as a host of new content and features. The crew of the Starship Enterprise land at No4 with Namco Bandai’s release of ‘Star Trek’ coming a few weeks ahead of the hotly anticipated movie. It also makes it the third highest week 1 sell through for a Star Trek branded game. Square Enix’s ‘Tomb Raider’ slips down to No5 while last week’s No2 2K/Take 2’s ‘Bioshock Infinite’ is down to No6. Following the release of Lego City Undercover on Wii U in Week 13 a prequel title comes to 3DS with Nintendo’s ‘Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins’ at No8.

Rising Star Games also sneak into the Top 40 this week with ‘Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut’ at No38. The title which launched on Xbox 360 back in week 43 2010 gets all new content and story lines in this latest edition exclusive to PS3.

I tried to hold out for a physical copy of Awakening, but I couldn't do it, and caved for digital. Game is just too damn hard to find.

I'm surprised to see the 3DS lego game doing so well

Injustice came out last week for Wii U and made up 4% of Injustice sales. LOL.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2013/apr/29/top-20-video-games

Not surprising, seems like Wii U owners aren't too keen on purchasing third party games (and I can't blame them since they're par versions except may not get the same level of support and multiplayer is probably scarce), same story with NFS having a good port and not selling well.

Either way, third party situation is looking real bad for Nintendo since they're having a hard time even getting ports now and this is their window when their system isn't completely outmatched in terms of power.

Go go Fire Emblem! It deserves all the sales it can have :D

I have to assume at this point that third parties arent even making the money back on effort and dev budget.

8 year old systems with huge install base vs System barely out and not doing too well yet hardware sales, yea easily explainable.
Ofc I know you are dying to doom the Wiiu, but keep it realisti will ya.

glad to see lego city 3ds opening well (will pick it up myself when got some spare time/money) as really enjoyed the wii u game and i'd love to see the franchise continue

No publisher is going to look at that and say it's good.

They better do it when it comes to next gen then, because they will face a similar thing, maybe not as much, but if you expect next gen versions will come close to doing ps360 number
will be in for quite a surprise.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Fire Emblem was clearly front-loaded, but it's refreshing to see a variety of 3DS software hitting the charts nowadays.

Actually, it didn't have a drop as steep as it seems, since there have been 6 new entries, counting all SKUs, in top 10.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.

The realistic view is this is the end for non-subsidized third party support of the WiiU.

This isn't even about new-gen adoption rates, this is about a niche audience that just doesn't give a shit unless Nintendo tells them to do so. That this issue has become such a problem is the main reason why I doubt there will be another Nintendo home console. Who will support it after this debacle?

Why isn't there a FIFA, Call of Duty or Assassins Creed game in the Top 10?

US GAF told me that's all that sells here.

I looked at getting injustice. On Amazon the 360/PS3 versions £30 Wii U £38. What reason is there for me to pay more to get the Wii U version over the 360 version?

No, it's just you too eager dooming anything Nintendo does.
You just love to hyperbole everything negative, and shouldn't be taken seriously when it comes to these topics.

4% of sales for the second week of sales; I imagine Injustice fell a lot as most games do week/week... the percentage actually paints a more positive picture than it seems.
How do you figure that? Wii U install base is about 2.3% of PS3+360 and in 1/2 the time it's sold 4% of the total units.
Second week sales for the other two platforms.

It's not 4% of the total, it's 4% of this week's sales.

Early adopters are supposed to buy more software, that's how console launches work. Software sales don't scale proportionally with install base.

Your post history bias is about as damning as it gets so I wouldn't go playing the "can't be trusted" card. Its bad news, but sticking fingers in your ears isn't going to solve anything.

Videogames aren't made and released suddenly, decisions behind their budgets and where stuff is going are made 2-3 years in advance, and right now publishers are looking at their efforts on WiiU not making the money back with no turnaround in sight. So right now theyre cancelling things, aborting before the lost cost of a WiiU port gets too much. Worse still, devs like Criterion that actually put extra effort in will be feeling massively burned.

Now even if Nintendo does turn things around to some gigantic platform adoption rate due to Mario Kart, only the second sustained month after those sales figures are available will third parties think twice and actually restart WiiU projects again, leaving you entering early 2014 with the PS4 and Xbox 720 power gap finally there and taking up budgets going forward and whatever adoption rates theyre offering which most betting men are guessing will be substantially better than WiiU's due to that being where the mainstream hardcore gaming audience gravitates these days.

Ahh OK I was thinking he meant total sales. Anyone have total sales for it on the platforms?

True, but there are also a ton of other aspects to considere. For example, a game that has its most appealing feature in on-line gaming will be bought for the consoles with a bigger community.
If you add to the mix that no one bought a WiiU to play this game, it becomes apparent that while not being great or even good, those sales are far from bad.

This game's main purpose is to create a user-base of those kinds of games for future releases on the system.
Of course, what will matter the most is the total amount of copies sold to the public.

Frankly, I can't even begin to fathom why somebody would argue with Pie and Beans on matters concerting nintendo.
