Halo has Master Chief, aka John, who wakes up in the beginning of Halo 1 and Halo 4, but that's all I can think of.
Tomorrow, 6pm BST/10am PDT, Xbox is revealing something special.
We think you might like what they're announcing...
Less than 200 posts to thread close down and I will see you guys only after the show!
Not so much the visual fidelity angle as in the "are people going to boot this thing up every single time they game five years from now" angle.
Aside from 'immersion' being only slightly better than 'visceral' when it comes to gaming rhetoric, I don't exactly buy the unadulterated claim that just because you get some extra images broadcast on your wall that you are somehow more immersed. I think all of the justification for the device comes from its longevity.

It was locked at 20,000 posts as most threads are.
Fuck. I'm not going to get any work done today. and definitely not tomorrow.
GIF time? GIF time.
Yeah FUCK immersion. Immersion sucks!
Racing game confirmed.
Why relegate it to the initial prototype video? I used modern because I borrowed your phrasing. Of course those games are modern but any one would be able to deduce that Just Dance and Wii Sports fall into a very different category than a FPS. I'm not saying Kinect was ever meant to control the gun in a FPS game -- what I'm saying is what functions it ultimately fulfilled in core games were lackluster. It didn't necessarily make games "better" just different at the very best. And that had less to do with the positioning of the device than its inherent capability/fidelity.You should watch the concept video again. There's not a single moment suggesting you would use kinect in a shooter, for example. The most "traditional" game portrayed in there was the racing game (with the tire changing minigame), everything else was a kid fighting or stomping like a monster, a quiz game, sport minigames, a virtual dressing room, and voice control for videos.
Besides, I don't see how motion control games wouldn't qualify as "modern gaming". A game like Just Dance, Guitar Hero or Wii Sports is probably more modern than your regular FPS, which is from a genre that has been popular since the 90s.
So... PGR? Forza?

lol. I love shit like this. Sony and MS are really going to go for each others throats with their consoles launching so close to each other. Exciting times.
will illumiroom even work in a small space? seems like you need a kinect sized space to get that shit to work properly.
That was quick!
So... PGR? Forza?
